I really like the song. It's a shame about the choice of how to make her voice sound. I would have liked to hear her as beautiful as in IFSF. I was a little disappointed. It's a very unique choice! She doesn't sound robotic or anything like when I heard "La Bambola." It's a shame because the song deserves a lot.

Constantly on repeat!!

first listen I was a little taken aback by the mixing on her vocals. But the more I listen to it the more I get used to it.

and that must be a bit of track 3 we hear at the beginning!!

It seems to be an artistic choice but I don’t like her vocals, they are overproduced / altered too much.
At 2:35 it’s the worst it sounds like they started a record player.
In contrast Sabrina‘s vocals are unaltered.

However the song might grow on me.

That was my initial reaction to M's vocal performance. But perhaps they did it to make her voice more distinguishable. When M and Sab sing together, it seems like there's only one person singing, especially at the lower register.

It's awesome. ON my hundreth listen already.

ANd how does this bitch just know me? Know all of us?

I am living the "Ask yourself this. What are you doing it for? Is it for you? Is it for them?" part now!

❤️

She is always so profound, even in deceptively “simple” trappings. It is a really deep question… not easy to answer, even when love is the reason. Is it altruistic love for others, or is it selfish motivation for self-gratification… Hmm. Things to think about!

I concur 💯

M's vocals on YT with a soundbar don't sound overprocessed but on Spotify it's another story

I don't mind her vocals as some here. I think they totally fit the song. Production is amazing! Returning with Stuart was a great decision.

I definitely hear Good Life in it. It sounds as if they reconstructed the bassline instead of lifting it directly. And I think they have sped-up the melody for the chorus.

I need the phrase... I Got Something I Wanna Talk About on a T Shirt!!!! This is gonna go top 10!!!! ❤️

the YT visualiser also sounds crisper and sharper than on spotify. at least to my ears

I agree, sounds better, at least her voice doesn´t sound so retouched, and her grills or whatever she has are there but not that much

It’s pop and 90s house perfection. Just a banger and a feel good song. I don’t mind her vocal delivery here. It actually works in favor of the song in my opinion.

Anyone else getting “Thief of Hearts” vibes?

I think it smashes!

Lyrics I would give a 6.5 out of 10

Production 10

Music 10

Overall an easy 8.5

Best lead single since 4 Minutes and while they are so different I have to say this one is better on production (thank you, Stuart).

It’s a fucking bop!

This has HIT written all over it....now lets see what radio and streaming outlets do with it !

hopefully they´ll fix this

I would have loved the Good Life sample to be a bit more prominent. I think I was also expecting pristine vocals with Mirwais so am finding it jarring, considering Sabrina’s are so clear.

But otherwise  great pop song. Hopefully it’s received well by the general public.

Yeah it is as if Thief of Hearts and something Crystal Waters would create together.

Glad it wasn’t just me. The volume even sounds lower on Apple Music. I thought I had it turned down but when I checked it was on max.

Me too.

I adore the track BUT they could have used a lot more from Good Life which has so many iconic synths and chord stabs that could have been lifted on to the track.

I think it would have brought much more to it, there was PLENTY to play with, if you’re gonna sample it and give a credit then go for it!!!!

They lift the essence of Inner City but leave out the real iconic hard hitting parts of the track.

It’s one of the lightest uses of a sample I’ve ever heard in a song.

Thanks — I tried logging in to my account (which I hadn’t used since MX) back when IFSF was released and couldn’t. Have been meaning to get that all set up again, but it was just a hassle.

Anyway — are the writing credits Madonna, Stuart, and the Inner City trio? What about Sabrina, does she have a writing credit?

Yes, exactly. No writing credit for Sabrina.

Perhaps future live performance/tour arrangements by Stuart will lean even more heavily into the sample. Think about Future Lovers and the Confessions Tour performance… You may get your wish. Patience, friends!

It's a sample, not a cover

songwriters of sampled songs typically receive a writing credit. and it appears they have. it's why beyonce's renaissance has so many "writers."

yeah a really big missed opportunity. would be cool if maybe the song it sampled twice on the album.
