The Max Martin rumor in relation to BYL was said to have been from madeyes — if so, this MrWR is recycling something read elsewhere. (I don’t know him, but in another thread, his credibility is already being questioned. Certainly haven’t been seeing his name in the “insider” circles for the past six months or so.)

The rumor about the Max Martin collab (from 2023) not being finished came from G_O_N_E (or something like that) at Infinity. And when they started talking, others started saying they weren’t reliable, either… So … who knows?

Until we get the album and see the full credits, we can’t totally rule it out. If he was involved at all with BYL, we may know sooner than July…

(It’s a possible scenario that *if* that Max Martin song wasn’t finished … it was finished with Sabrina and Stuart. 🤷‍♂️ Not entirely impossible. But I don’t even know whether I’d say that’s likely or unlikely at this point. Don’t know enough.)

The fuck is OZGO? 🙂 🙂

Sounds like a sauce — and I want it all over my body THIS WEEK!

would inner city people be there?

If Stuart & Madonna have used the sample absolutely they will be credited.

Good point! I would think they might, but it depends … Sometimes a sample gets a fee, but not a writing credit. ABBA famously got a writing credit for Hung Up.

I mean, Lil Louis got a writing credit for IFSF … so … one might imagine Inner City could have lobbied for it — not sure, though. Could depend on if those composers are still alive, haven’t sold the rights to their catalogue, etc. etc.

The sample would be credited/acknowledged, yes, certainly. Whether they see a writing credit with a split of the publishing would be negotiated (like I noted above about Benny and Björn, and Lil Louis — but not all samples are automatically given writers’ credits — check samples on “Erotica” and on several Bedtime Stories album tracks).

things have changed since the 90s. i think most sampled tracks receive writing credits these days.

Very true.

But the ABBA sample in Hung Up is so prominent it literally carries the song and is featured in most of it. The fact Madonna & ABBA negotiated a 50% split on the publishing of the track is absolutely correct, the song is half the ABBA sample totally.

We are yet to hear BYL with Sabrina, but from the preview the Good Life sample used in the chorus is far less prominent, and it might only be used in the choruses, whereas the ABBA sample was used throughout Hung Up.

I am not an expert on publishing but I do believe it depends just how much a sample is used in a song that helps determine the publishing rights.

I think it depends on whether it is structural/compositional vs just an incidental embellishment or something like that. But, as I said above that, I tended to agree that Inner City would warrant that for BYL. But it really may depend on whether there is anyone to advocate for that in a negotiation for the usage.

i'm not really hearing it in BYL?

I can hear it in the synths but it’s not obvious like Hung Up was, it’s intertwined into the song more lightly.

Hung Up is the ABBA sample, the entire song is built around it, but from the preview of BYL, it sounds like they have used the Inner City sample delicately and built it in to the songs production.

If it’s not a sample then Stuart has worked his wonders on yet another expert interpolation!

AAny updates yet on whether BYL is the lead single? Or is it something else?

Either way, it’s been in my head all weekend and I’ve actually only watched the performance a couple of times so it’s obviously catchy and has staying power

Most likely next Friday now.

This is serving as the preview and warming everyone up.

We have I Feel So Free to enjoy this week now it’s available officially after its exclusivity to Pride Radio.

I think it was on purpose, to release the albums opener as a solo track to open the era, rather than launching with a collaboration. Then we have the spectacular performance at Coachella with a tease of the collaboration…..

…..all leading to the lead single with Sabrina being officially rolled out next week, I’d imagine with the epic music video 😍

Warners are drip feeding but it’s working as she is absolutely everywhere right now.

I still don't think the Sabrina track is going to be the Lead single! The lead single is allegedly Hung ups true heir & the tracks we have heard so far are not that! They represent the thread from confessions 1 (future lovers = I feel free to/ get together=BYL)

i truly feel the lead solo single is going to smash us to pieces like Frozen, LAP, Vogue,Hung up & 4mins did!

I can't stop listening to this! I can't wait for the studio version. The layers sound so amazing and I well up when they sing "I did it all for loooove" almost every time.

why would the insiders have heard this alleged lead single but then warner releases two other songs? seems to be the insiders were wrong (likely) or plans changed.

Or Warner is taking the temperature of how the GP are reacting to the songs to see how best to move forward.

We're getting a single this Friday. Is it the same 5-4-4 title teased by the insider last week? Is it Bring your love? Answers on a postcard, please

Hopefully Warner will release the physical single in the US. 😀

The last physical single in the US was Turn Up The Radio in 2012.

It does seem very odd.

My initial thought was Sabrina was brought in late to the album, so there may have been adjustments, but there’s not really any evidence to support that theory, but IF that’s the case maybe by the time the insiders heard/learned about the killer solo track being the lead single, it was because the Sabrina collab wasn’t ready to go yet?

Agree. We know nothing and just aren't used to that. Any theories that gain legs are just that...theories based on conflicting "insiders" and rumors that are never substantiated.

It doesn't make any sense for her to have teased a big collab with SC and for it not to be the album's lead single.

Anyways, I can't wait. My only critique is that I would have preferred the single to be titled  "I Did it All for Love" but that's just me. :madonna2:

It's about getting streams - she will need her fan base to stream the song when it's released as it will count towards album placement
