They play Sabrina constantly so I think if it gets picked up by commercial stations but Radio 1 refuse to play it, it would be seen as a snub and might create some fuss. I do remember a few articles about R1 not playing Living For Love when it came out and accusing them of ageism. They put out a lame statement in response to say Paul McCartney was on their playlist at the time, but that was purely because he was on that song with Rihanna and Kanye which he didn’t even sing on. If Radio 1 playlist it, then it has a really sizeable chance of becoming a hit. I’m also hoping the big commercial stations like Heart and Capital pick it up, as they have huge reach and it seems like it would go down well with their listeners, plus they play the SAME songs again and again. I think Radio 1 only started playing Padam Padam after all the other stations playlisted it. The worst case scenario is that it’s ignored in favour of other recent hits from Sabrina but I’m hoping that won’t happen given the publicity the album campaign is getting and that the general audience seem receptive to Madonna once again.

For anyone who didn’t want a collaboration as lead single, this is the exact reason why it NEEDED to happen. A-list tracks get tons of spins on radio 1 so this is an incredible development! Another massive milestone towards a top ten (possibly top 5) hit single for her in the U.K.

It is shaping up that next week multiple radio stations will be spinning BYL in the U.K. I never thought that would ever happen again for a Madonna single. Madonna all over the radio, 45 into her career at almost 70 & with a banging song ! I fucking love being a fan right now.

Radio 1 & 2 are the major players over here, but we have a lot of others. Capital, Heart, Magic, KISS all have big audience reach and followings. We have a lot of local stations all over the country as well, similar to America I’m guessing but obviously a smaller number. I am sure Warners have something planned for America as well. But Sabrina is pretty hot property so I’m guessing she will get spins just because of BYL. I wonder when & where Madonna will start to promote BYL? The song could benefit from some radio interviews next week for sure!

I'm not bothered about chart positions except I'd like the album to be a UK #1 but I now have hopes for the single.... top 10? Top 5? Do I dare to dream?
