Fitho Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I cannot remember the last time when I found a Madonna song to be so commercial and I mean that in a positive way.

I love the 90s nostalgia and I really think the general public will really like it as well. From the preview ALONE I think its her best lead single since 4minutes! Finally, a song that is suit for the masses! Cant wait for the 2nd track from CONFESSIONS II Ny only gripe is the single cover is a bit boring ! I know! I actually wouldn’t mind the half effort if they just looked more posed and not M’s hands on Sabrina’s waist …not my fave but I can see it working with everyone liking it. It’s sexy and cool and really feels like the 90’s in the chorus

So what's the correct answer? they will count toward the album's total units, not first week units. 25 minutes ago, Confessit said: I think it has potential to become a hit over here across Europe as I think that sound and vibe is far more popular and palatable for the mainstream. In America not so sure ! But I think it will play out big time on many clubs and pick up traction there….. I mean, Beyonce enjoyed her moment with house resurgence, Sabrina does have big streaming pull but I think a top ten entry here in the U.K. is very possible with big promotional tactics ! This is where Warner’s need to come into their own with major playlisting! And what about the video? Is it the clip filled with stunts & celebrity cameos that will become a news worthy talked about clip? If so, that will help divert attention to it! i've pointed out before that beyonce's song was not a massive hit. it's been four years and has barely crossed the 500M mark on spotify. the second single, which was more R&B/disco, did significantly better. same for ariana's last album. "yes, and?" was not the biggest track from that album. house-pop has just never really caught on with gen z. and sabrina has never done this genre before. it's all a very big gamble. 17 minutes ago, mtzlplk said: Not if they have a stand-alone version of it, just like what they have with IFSF, right? They actually should have that stand-alone version available, the one that they should spread on playlists... . i think you're referring to that erroneous twitter post by a fan that claimed IFSF was not eligible for the hot 100, which was false. we really need a tutorial for m fans about streaming.
*mlvc* Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) So, this now leaves me wondering what all of the buzz was about "Hung Up's true heir" which was supposed to be a Madonna solo track. I wonder if that is the single that will be released alongside the album? I will go ahead and say that regardless of how good the song is it probably won't do a lot on the the Hot 100 because radio all but refuses to play legacy artists unless they are paired with a current, young artist. At least that's how it is here in the US. At this point I don't really care about the charts as much as I care about the music but unless Warner does some sort of payola deal M's chances are slim for a successful solo single. I really didn't mean to come across as a wet blanket, LOL! I just remember how here in the US even Sorry couldn't gain traction after Hung Up being in the top 10 and that was over 20 years ago. It does seem though that in recent years the media has become kinder toward legacy artists, but I don't know if that's going to affect airplay. Edited April 27 by *mlvc*

Couldn’t they have lifted something better from the epic video we are all suppose to be getting? Even so, the song sounds fresh, catchy & summery ready for the sunshine & Pride celebrations and dance floors of the world!! So I can forgive the boring as fuck single cover !
runa Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I don't know why but I'm going to let myself dream of a Hot 100.

Because if this was the intended lead single, they logically should have released it during the performance...

Do we know for SURE that's the cover though? I think it's a very fun song, too! IFSF is more my style, but BYL will be more commercially appealing.
Anne Posted April 27 Posted April 27 The lead being the "true heir to Hung Up" only came from Ragazzo on Popjustice, who got all his predictions wrong this time, so most likely it was just another of his guesses trying to pass it as insider info.

Yeah, they should shove it down at all iHeartradio stations with every hour plays...
domyeyebrows Posted April 27 Posted April 27 It's so catchy and radio-friendly. I'm not getting my hopes up as I did that 10 years ago with Ghosttown and that got to, like, number 780 on the charts despite it having radio hit all over it. But let's see! The cover art looks like a place holder but I don't suppose anyone's particularly bothered about single covers these days. It sounds fabulous!
Sokrates5 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I just had the following thought. With Bring Your Love as the lead single, the clubbier track we heard bits of must be the second single, and Love Vibration being the third. Thoughts?

BMS did decently because it was beyonce, not because people wanted a house-pop song. "the cuff" has twice as many streams. same for ari: "yes, and?" opened huge because it was ari, but it didn't have very long legs. it's not even in her top 10. meanwhile, the second single (more synth-pop) has 2B streams and is still her top song currently. audiences simply don't want house-pop.

I don’t think I’ll be able to work on Thursday and Friday, but I’ll use my toilet breaks in between calls to listen to the song and have a little dance. I did that with all the clips that emerged after Saturday night. My clients must have thought I had bladder issues all of a sudden

I hear what you are saying but I still think a #1 and #2 entry in America/UK charts is most definitely a big hit and something BYL can only dream of (not that it needS to make #1) as you say there are many other ways to define a hit these days. But time will tell, one things for sure, BYL sounds more catchy & brings more repeat value than a Madonna single has in a looooong time!

Confessit II Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Just now, bard said: right but beyonce and ari were able to do that because they're in their prime. Very true and I totally accept that. I also agree with you in the fact the vibe and tone of BYL is the opposite of Sabrina’s usual wheelhouse so for her fans, the very fans Warners are banking on streaming it won’t be used to this type of track. BUT having said that, I still think this collaboration has the best chance over an outstanding Madonna solo lead for very obvious reasons. That’s just the times we live in of course! Its catchy, refreshing & to my ears had replay value that nothing on MX really captured because it was too left field, that’s fair enough differ vibe of a record! Ultimately, I think BYL will absolutely boost CONFESSIONS II profile online, purely because of Sabrina, and that’s exactly the place for it to be in. What I love about it is it feels authentic to Madonna’s sound & vibe rather than a let’s hook up with the hottest young thang so it’s pleasing to us as a fanbase as well.
