jonski43 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I would have thought she would be previewing tracks otherwise what's the point of the evening? They can't just play IFSF all night. Even if it's just some instrumentals or remixes but there's got to be a promotional reason for it. Quote
Get Together Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Got this text about tonight from my friend: mez is 9-1030 then it’s romy 1030-1130 then Stuart price 1130-1230 He thinks M will show up around midnight Quote

Have a great night (for yourself and for all of us vicariously)! It’s helpful to know this for those of us on the east coast, too — knowing whether to stay up awaiting info (or wake up early lol). (And of course M will show up at midnight! Haha!) Quote
peter Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I think someone already said it, but it is likely to be similar to that night before the release of COADF when Madonna and Stuart appeared at a club … Madonna wore a blue dress and Stuart played Hung Up (perhaps some other tracks? I don’t recall now). They used some of the footage alongside interviews she did at the time. Quote

I don’t know anything (or anyone!) … I was just sharing what I imagine might happen… (Especially in light of the discussion about the venue not being ‘appropriate’ for performance or whatever. Was just saying she did something like this for COADF.) Quote

I hope she previews several songs, but I think they'll hold back the smartphones to avoid leaks. Quote
Jairo Posted April 25 Posted April 25 I don't think they will premiere more songs that we already know at this point, but maybe playing instrumentals for the next songs or snippets. Can't wait! The night is young! Quote

Midnight?! I may stay up past midnight like a dozen times a year at MOST. I’m 45 and if I’m not in bed by 10:30pm at the latest, it’s game over the next day. Quote

She just keeps a different schedule… Keep in mind what her profession is. When she’s on stage, she’s working at night. In one recent interview, I thought she said she was going to bed between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., or something like that. I tend to be a night owl, so I get it. But it’s rough when you’ve gotta be operating on a “morning person” schedule (like most of the world). Quote

I’m just saying that at 67 it just shows her stamina, endurance and work ethic. It’s wild. Quote
bard Posted April 26 Posted April 26 didn't mariah do an appearance at the abbey for her last album? Quote

It’s likely genetic, and it tends to become more fixed with age. That’s why I, as a morning person, have an increasing need to go to bed early or indeed the next day is ruined, while she probably needs to lean into her night-owl rhythm more and more over time. So it's likely not a stretch for her to stay up all night. I wake up at 6 am at the latest even if I go to sleep at 5 am, so I'm extremely picky when it comes to staying up late. I've missed out on some great parties (and probably lots of good sex lol) because of that. But I agree that in the big picture, being a morning person is a huge privilege. The world is structured around our schedule. Quote

So it's likely not a stretch for her to stay up all night. I agree that in the big picture, being a morning person is a huge privilege. The world is structured around our schedule. I feel so validated!! I saw a meme of two owls, one flapping its wings dramatically saying to the other, “Why did we let the early birds determine the schedule?!” And the other owl replies, “They did it while we were sleeping.” I thought it was cute! But yeah, I get how difficult it is to function on low sleep. Unfortunately I kinda ruined my sleep schedule in college (writing papers all night) and then slowly got into worse and worse habits on the job, having to pull all-nighters at the office (or working from home) to make up for other people disregarding deadlines … and then the pandemic changed patterns and work volumes with digital/virtual needs multiplying other demands … blah blah blah, I think I don’t operate on a circadian rhythm anymore. I can be awake for more than 24 hours easily, but then I want to sleep more when I get the opportunity. (Like my body says, “oh, you’ll let me sleep now? thanks! see you in ten hours!” and i am deceased to the world.) So … yeah, I can kinda understand Madonna, although I also know it can get to a point where it is ridiculous and too entrenched. But I can see how it’s her body — she’s gotta be ready to take the stage and not stop the show until it’s over. No restroom breaks or anything, so … she’s probably gotta be pretty regimented, even if she’s going on stage later than scheduled. Quote

peter Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I’ve heard Stuart has arrived; he said hello and was friendly to the fans outside hoping to get in (but it is restricted to guest list only). Someone wrote that it is an open air venue, so even if some fans can’t gain entrance, they should be able to hear what’s going on, I would think… Should be about another hour until M makes her presence known, if she arrives at midnight. (Someone said she’s already there, but not doing anything yet.) Quote
