jonski43 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 A good explanation. The way this has been marketed means that an the streams will count towards the album. Quote
dollhouse Posted April 24 Posted April 24 ^nice, well i suspected they only care about the album sales and pre-orders those numbers (its a worldwide number, not USA alone) wont generate big number of album equal sales but every little bit helps! Quote
Lolo Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Yay, in Germany it’s now in the NMF playlist, at 16 in the list. Quote

It's currently not appearing on the New Music Friday one with 4.5 million... Oh I didn’t realise this! Yes there are 2 lists! Why? Is the New Music Friday playlist an international list? Whereas New Music Friday UK is tailored just for us Brits? Quote

Paul Posted April 24 Posted April 24 On Australian iTunes Store all week they had highlighted all of M’s albums under a special ‘rediscover Madonna’ banner. This week it’s replaced with a highlight of Michael Jackson albums. on Amazon music IFSF is number 1 song on their dance hits playlist. Quote

Good explanation. My only question would be: how come Taylor Swift's album tracks chart? Wouldn't those also be no eligible, by the rule? Quote

Prayer85 Posted April 24 Posted April 24 So, to get into the charts, a song has to have a different cover? How absurd is this? Die with a Smile was released as a single, and then Gaga put it on the album at the last minute after saying the track had nothing to do with her work, ensuring that the album would get all the millions of streams of Die with a Smile on its first day of release! Can someone truly knowledgeable explain the mechanism to me better? So how will they handle the release of the actual first single? Quote

From what has been discussed here before, they don't count for the first week's sales but they do count for overall album sales. Quote
