I personally think she’s the one who hated this kind of ceremony, not the other way around… Pretty sure they wanted her, but she refused.

Sounds about right.

I think the only awards ceremony Madonna has been loyal towards is the VMAs.

All the others are here or there for her.

She has even attended the VMAs just because, and without anything to promote because they invited her, I think she felt some kind of synergy to the show since performing at the 1st one, the one that made her a global superstar.

Oh, apologies! I guess I got confused, too — with Koko and the MTV VMAs, where (I think!) she wore the purple leather Gucci jacket. I guess the Coachella 2006 version was a little like a precursor to the Confessions Tour Hung Up sequined jacket… (Or else like the pink sequined one she wore at G-A-Y.)

Still … it was mostly vintage from twenty years ago. Maybe that’s all she meant — that she was wearing pieces that she wore when launching the album back then. I remember thinking the same thing when I watched it live — that she didn’t wear that corset at Coachella, so it definitely gave that impression (that she meant that)… But maybe she had planned generally what she wanted to say and left out a few words or something. The pieces she referenced, though, are all original to the era … so … she can be forgiven for causing a little confusion! haha!

If she had, I think there would be a different conversation about what fans wished she hadn’t done… (I don’t even wanna say it…)

I think Madonna Outfits posted what those two lilac pieces were that she wore under the corset. I thought it was a nice update — not wearing the same exact thing as the first era without any twist, and it felt like a nod to the chiffon blouse that she wore on the 2005 album cover (pink with pink leotard).
