We had threads to discuss each individual tracks during MX so let’s do it again. 

 In a statement, Madonna summed up the new album by quoting the first few lines of the song “One Step Away,” saying, “People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.”

It feels really authentic for her to talk or sing about dance as she started as a dancer and was always first and foremost a great performer (if not the greatest).

On the Madonna Infinity forum, the member Roland Barthes (I think he had the same username here), has posted that this track is the lead single that is coming on Friday.

I also read on X, someone called Skywalker PL says this is the lead single. Don't ask me who the hell that is!

Roland Barthes knows nothing, though. He has a liar reputation. He used to post here and then talk shit about us on other forums.

This was also mentioned in Rolling Stone article. 

the RS article was a regurgitation of the press release, so i think it was just an misinterpretation. but i'm super-curious about what's going to happen. is it possible IFSF is a buzz single, the lead single is indeed still a solo track, and the sabrina collab is indeed the second single? is it possible they just couldn't pass up the chance to preview the collab at sabrina's set but are still intent on going with the solo lead? then the collab will be released as the second single in late june or the week of the album release, which would boost first-week sales/streams? 

i know @Confessit will have some thoughts about this!

Could be.

I suppose as long as the Sabrina collab is actually released BEFORE the album drops OR the week it drops, then Bring Your Love will be doing exactly wha it’s intended to do, boost the streaming profile of CONFESSIONSII.

Therefore, I suppose in the great scheme of things it matters not which way round it happens, 1st or 2nd single.

BUT

I would add the solo lead therefore needs to be something really splashy and effective to bump the collaboration to 2nd single for very obvious reasons.

yeah i agree. i kind of want this to be what's happening because that means there's a solo song that truly is the true heir of HU and/or "vogue," which i don't think BYL is. then again, i thought "sorry" was superior to HU at the time, so i guess the order doesn't imply quality.

And if it is indeed the 2nd single, the fact Warners have the ultimate faith in the solo track to be the first one out officially (which is vital she gets it right to set the tone for the albums future) then I like you and many others on here, anticipate one hell of an amazing single

I also think Sorry edges HU as a song but totally understand the mass appeal of HU and the fact it was begging to be COADF lead single after completion!

yeah, BYL is like an insurance policy. warner probably knows that even the true heir to HU and/or vogue is not going to smash (in the US at least). but if it's that good, give it its time and then follow-up with the collab, which has always been my preference/theory. i guess we're a few days away from finding out? or less if she starts to tease it.

I guess in many ways the old rule book is out that window, I lean into your theory and I agree, even if she has recorded something to rival Vogue & Hung Up in 2026 it won’t smash as a solo track but what it will do is receive the critical acclaim & set the album up on an amazing pedestal.

As you say the Sabrina collab is the ultimate in insurance policy so maybe that is the better way to go to pitch up an amazing solo lead first….

God I hope she starts teasing this week. Will it happen this Friday the official release of the lead single !?!

Only time will tell! The excitement is at fever pitch!

The should release "Bring Your Love" before this one. There is a lot of hype for their performance and the song will do good at least on the charts with Sabrina on it. Also, they already release a Madonna solo song, so we can wait closer to the album release for the "heir" to Hung up.

you're probably right. but unless the song is a hit, wouldn't it help the album more if it drops the week before or even on release date with a video?

I think there’s a lot of things that have already happened that “don’t make sense” on paper but then they happened and it feels like they all make sense to everyone all of the sudden. So who knows at this point what song is coming but there has been much consistency across insiders, some credible and some known liars, that the lead single is the solo song including Matthew who’s been adamant about it. Personally, I think if they didn’t release BYL right after the coachella performance it’s all a wash anyways so let’s see what happens on Friday!

I’m also subscribing to this theory, purely because it’s exciting to think there is a lead single they believe in enough to go ahead of the Sabrina collab. A solo is unlikely to smash but there is enough interest in the album now for it to do well and if it’s the stronger song, then it should be the lead.
 

That’s not to say I won’t love BYL - it’s been in my head since Saturday - but that will come ahead of the album anyway. 
 

We will see soon enough.

No, someone posted before album announcement that this guy said new song on Friday and album on july 3rd but it got totally lost (and i guess noone paid attention cause it was a new name. And he then described the album cover with the veil. So I guess this info that solo lead single coming this friday can be trusted

Exciting times, so that’s an album track, half a collaboration & the lead single all within 1 week of each other
