That said, I personally feel like the keyboards, the element that makes it sound so special have Arca written all over them, especially in the intro and throughout a big portion of the track. I’m not exactly sure what “additional production” fully covers here, but it definitely feels like her touch is present beyond just a minor contribution. I really hope she’s involved in more songs, because her sound elevates this to another level. Madonna + Arca + Stuart… who would’ve imagined this result?

Was just curious. “why” makes more sense to me (and is honestly kind of sad to me — conveys that loneliness and how isolating fame can be, but also just what it can be like for any human who feels insecurity or questions their worth and value).

Yeah, I agree — which would be preferable if that’s the sense in which it was intended… I think why makes more sense. (She even used to talk about feeling like a nerd and would take a book when she’d go out places … can believe she sometimes might feel like she could be bewildered about her own magnetic appeal to people, and not being able to understand what draws others to her. I mean, we all know there is something about her, a lot of things. But sometimes it is difficult to see yourself from outside of yourself. I’m rambling, but … for her, I’m sure it’s an extension, too, of the fame thing and what she says in the previous lines about having a hard time trusting people — “can you blame me?” — and questioning people’s motives. Why do they like her? For clout? For access? For opportunity? For a free meal ticket? et al.)
