Same! I love house music but this track sounds like it’s trying way too hard.

I feel like it doesn't need the snaps at the beginning, it would’ve been better without it.

After the three minute mark it’s unbearable to listen to. Sounds like two songs being mixed together at the wrong beat rate. Way too much going on, and giving me a headache.

I’m hoping it grows on me though. I’m excited for the rest of the album

Glad I’m not in your shoes.

Glad that after 6 hours of sleep it is at 35 countries #1... Damn Celine Dion, those 4 countries she is blocking our M. 😍

I don't wanna sound dumb, but what does "safety in numbers" mean? Why do fans love that lyric? Does it mean something else? Am I missing something?

The phrase “safety in numbers” implies that community provides a sense of security and safety from outside threats. So, dancing with a collective of humanity is something she sees as a refuge and shelter. Vulnerable and marginalized communities can especially identify with that notion.

There’s also that feeling that dancing one-on-one is almost too intimate and vulnerable, too risky. It’s easier to be free and release your inhibitions if you’re dancing in a large group where perhaps the attention isn’t focused solely on you.

Which … is also a little bit of that touch of Madonna melancholy. She feels safe and free on the dance floor, but … there’s a sense that we don’t get to remain there forever, so … when we step off the dance floor and exit the club … we go back to being in danger, imprisoned, oppressed, repressed, etc.

Just my interpretation. Someone else may have some additional insights. (You can Google “safety in numbers” and see if it helps more? I think it’s a common phrase — meaning you’re safer from danger if you stay with the pack than if you are a lone wolf. It reminds me of her using “you can’t hit a moving target” for MX, but she was relating movement to dance.)

My interpretation is how you can lose yourself in the anonymity and enormity of a dance floor crowd and feel at ease with likeminded lost souls. You're with your people.

Not really explaining myself well but it's hard to describe the feeling those lyrics evoke. And the song ends with those menacing organ/keyboard notes (or whatever). It made me think of Pulse.

This is a dark masterpiece.

You explained that so perfectly peter! That's exactly how I interpreted it as well.

🤣🤣🤣

On a side note we know she has a song on here about her brother, but I have a feeling it's going to really punch me in the gut. I can only believe the song will be about their mutual love of dance and the dance floor. 😢

This is basically how I interpreted it... I think the reason why fans love quoting it is because when you listen to "That's why I like to go dancing, safety in numbers" that sound similar to HISTORY kicks in and it's delicious. 😍

👏Truer words

When she hits the chorus, "I Feel So Free," what are the words to the background vocals?

Or are they just moans?

Listening to this through halfway decent speakers is a must. Listening to it through great speakers is the best! No phone speakers for this one. The more I listen to this the more I unpack from it, there's just so many layers to it. The way she samples/interpolates from others while still being self referential is so unique. In one song I can catch references to Future Lovers and Erotica in the way that she speaks, the last 2 minutes of Skin in the more chaotic aspects of the production. Get Together has always given me that vibe of being a dreamlike haze, floating through space and this song definitely gives that vibe. Then you have the little dash of the essence of Into The Groove to bring it all together.....only when I'm dancing can I feel so free!!

She and Stuart are just brilliant! While the production may not scream "single", it definitely has a strong hooky chorus that's classic Madonna in the way it just gets stuck in your head.

I made a playlist of three songs, IFSF, VOGUE and Bitch I'm MADONNA... to help get 1B in 90s and 10s... Will a three-song playlist do?

All I want to do is listen to it over and over though. 😭

I think the best advice for us Millenial/Gen X fans is to try to avoid playing our physical copies of the album as much as we can after receiving them, and continue with streaming instead. 🤪

Gen Z fans....I'm sure you're streaming game is on point.

just the same three songs on a loop? that's probably not a good idea. best to include lots of other songs, ideally from other artists so it seems more organic. throw in some donna summer, sabrina, jessie ware, etc.

Okay, thanks. I made a playlist with those three songs plus 5 short songs, so a total of 8... Added As it Was, Aperture, American Girls, What Do You Mean and Sorry... Will 8 songs do?

Idk wtf a single even is in 2026 but this song is PERFECT as is but is also RIPE for some remixes. Guys, the vibes already are just....different than the past couple of eras. I think we're in for some peak Madonna magic this time. This is coming from someone that absolutely loved MX and RH but there are times when there's an undefinable  something extra and that's the vibe I'm getting from this era so far. Minus the couple of folks here that are underwhelmed, I've read absolutely nothing negative about this. She seems to actually be respected and appreciated this time (as she should be). WE ARE SO FUCKING LUCKY!! Let's treasure and appreciate this moment in time!! Thank you Madonna!! 🙏 To think, she's most likely delivered a top tier, "peak" album nearly 45 YEARS into her career. It's unheard of.

I know what you mean. Same here 😘and the fact that she is 45 years into her career makes it even more to appreciate.

We are the luckiest fanbase 🥰🕺🔥

Maybe the few that dislike it are listening to it on shitty phone speakers?

I can't see how you could hear it through some great headphones and not get the feeling like you are strapped in a rocket blasting off into space.  The rumbling at the beginning, I can only imagine the floor vibrating and shaking in an arena as the song kicks in.

Through my great headphones it‘s pure ear orgasm 🔥 the beat is everything I need right now. Her spoken vocals 🤩 her voice on c‘mon meet me on the dancefloor line made me almost pass out 🥰🕺

Its incredible.

Also love this.  He's probably been talked about here, but he's been on a Madonna journey for a few years. He's been blown away by most everything until he recently got to Hard Candy which he really disliked. (Justice for Hard Candy!!!) But reacting to the start of this new era literally brings him to tears.

Temporarily. Though if he repeats that same obnoxious trolling behavior when the next song is officially available he’s going to get an even longer timeout or worse!
