The design, the typography, the leotard…..it perfectly summed up the era and message. Hard hitting and punching. The new font used looks to be as run-of-the-mill relativism that is reproduced on mass. Whereas the COADF font feels unique to that album & moment in time. Fonts/design Standard (Confessions II) vs Timeless (COADF). I agree that the imagery for COADF was sublime, however, I think the point with C2 is to give an obvious nod to COADF while having its own identity. COADF was disco inspired whereas so far it would appear that C2 is 90s inspired hence the simplistic fonts and the standard CD looking like something we would have made at home when burning your own CDs was huge.

I haven’t felt like THIS about a new Madonna album since Ray of Light. Everything about today harkens back to the feelings I had when the first images of Frozen started to come out on MTV. And to see all the incredible press this is getting. To see so much of this being celebrated on social media and the joy she’s injected into pop culture once again is just so fucking cool to experience in real time. I have no doubt this is going to be something extremely special. And quite frankly, with all the nonsense and bullshit out there at the moment, it couldn’t come a better moment.

Shaun Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Yeah the art direction is chef’s kiss. Even the title Confessions II is like a DJ burned a CD, scribbled the name with a Sharpie, and headed out to the club. I was so against it as a title, but seeing the packaging made me have a complete change of (rebel) heart. It just…WORKS.
