Paul Wade Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I'm of the school of thought that thinks that any new material will hopefully be strong enough to stand on it's own merits, without Madonna having to remix, or shoe horn some other current artist in,just so that it will stand a slightly better chance when streaming. Adding rappers or other artists has done absolutely nothing for her in the past, when it comes to the quality of the music or her chart placements. If she MUST collaborate with someone,I would hope she would do it properly and create something unique and worthy of their talents.
AlvaroLiam Posted February 5 Posted February 5 According to Magical Green Unicorn on MInfinity (reliable)… yes, she seems to have finished the project 9 months ago. But neither him or his sources understand why is she delaying it for so long. Frustrating indeed.

It could not have been completely finished and handed off for production then. (And … before anyone says “It must have been La Bambola” … the date on that was October, so … guess again?)

Madonna was literally in the studio with Stuart in November, that was 3 months ago. She posted about it on her IG. So there’s no way it was all finished 9 months ago and she has just sat on it.

peter Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Well, supposed insiders were correct about the March 27 date. Unfortunately, it isn’t the new single or the new album — it’s a reissue. The code name was “Disco Nights,” apparently, and a UK online retailer even has that incorrect code name paired with the silver collection COADF vinyl product photo and info. So … some insider(s) must have believed it was the code name for something new. (Perhaps, anyway.) So, we’re probably back in the dark for now. Which is “fine” — I mean, it’s only early February. If we don’t get anything by the bitter end of 2026, I will be disappointed, naturally. But I’ll try to exercise a little patience… (Also trying to decide whether to spend my $$$ or save it — knowing whether she is touring after the album release would be helpful. Maybe that’s why they’re releasing these vinyls early in the year before we know what else is coming. )

I think you are correct… Memory is fuzzy, but the date for the release of Right on Time was rumored, and then the week of release, another insider confirmed it was coming later that week + teased some lyrics. But much earlier, there probably was some chatter that the date was for a new single. There was a belief the album was aiming for a November release, like the first Confessions. Could be mistaken, but … I tend to think your recollection is accurate.

Right… The one on ATRL (?) or PopJustice who alerts people the week of release definitely “just” has access to a database for digital releases when release is impending. But DazedMadonna… I tend to believe has a slightly elevated level of access. Unclear as to what type. At one point, he said with certainty whether the album had been mixed/mastered (which it hadn’t) — and then, the week in November that she posted “in the stu with Stu,” he said the album was being mixed/mastered (before she posted). So … he knows something probably from the label side? And he knew a lot about D&G. Unfortunately, sometime today, in response to fans’ pleas for info, he replied something like: All I can say is keep playing La Bambola. (So I don’t believe anything is imminent, and I doubt March 27 is significant for a new single, sadly.)

VictorMarques Posted February 6 Posted February 6 She does not care anymore with comercial success or to release something with a bit of strategy. She does not care even to try to gain some space in a complete different market. So it's not so disappointing to me, seeing how long she's taking to bring it.

But I'm going to say something controversial. Popular would've done what it did without Madonna. It didn't set the charts on fire did it? That song is big in streaming because of him. That's not shade towards her. It's just a fact.

It was a Weeknd track, she was just along for the ride as was Playboy Carti. I'll still take it of course, but her role in it becoming a hit was not significant.

Sure it was about The Weeknd but the song also clicked. The Weeknd has many singles that fizzled on streaming.

peter Posted February 6 Posted February 6 17 minutes ago, cocolattee said: and here we are..... I think, when she wrote this, she fully intended and believed that she would release at least a single or the full album before 2025 had concluded. However … She posted this in December 2024, and had been working for the past several months (per her post) at that point. And we know she also had other material from previous recording sessions between MX and then to draw from, as well, if she/Stuart saw some potential. Obviously, they did not meet the deadline to release anything along that original timeline. They were still at work in November 2025. Production would require at least three months, even if she were to get priority treatment in manufacturing and if there weren’t any reason to delay (for an advantageous marketing position — either for chart purposes or collaborative marketing opportunities like a festival appearance or a film placement). Add into the mix these factors: - When she wrote that post, it appears she didn’t yet have a formal agreement in place for a label’s involvement in distribution. The announcement from Warner didn’t come until September 2025. Now, she may have been able to release the new music through Warner under some other previous arrangement (the way some new music came out between MX and now) — but perhaps she wanted to re-negotiate for more favorable terms than what she had been operating under post-Interscope. This process may have taken longer than anticipated. We don’t know if she shopped around a bit before settling back at home with Warner. - Secondly — not to get too political, but — a lot changed between when she started new work with Stuart (prior to the U.S. election). Even though her post would have been written after knowing the results of the election, the new administration had not yet taken office. M has not been silent (despite some thinking she has not been vocal enough) about what she perceives happening both in the U.S. and in other places around the world. There’s a possibility she felt an impulse to address these current events through music in a way that she hadn’t yet (because they transpired later in her writing process). And even beyond these things, the same could be true personally for her. The creative process can be unpredictable, new inspiration can strike. She continued working up until the last minute — and past it, apparently — which closed the window on 2025. I know waiting is hard. Hopefully, it’ll be worth it. I don’t think she’s just twiddling her thumbs and avoiding the release. I think the process was a little fluid and now that things have solidified, they’re making plans for the most opportune time to launch the album to give it the best chance for success. As with MX, I imagine she is working on multiple aspects of promotion in advance of the release (choreo, styling, musical arrangements, visuals, possibly hiring dancers, etc etc — and all of that can be just for promo tour performances, not necessarily a full concert tour, which, if it were to be in her plans, would require more preparation). If she hadn’t told us in Dec 2024 that she was working on new material, we all might be fretting about whether she would ever give us more new music. Or if she’d given us the fragrance campaign without knowing a new album is coming… everyone might be despairing that we wouldn’t get anything more. I respect that some think telling us too early can cause fatigue and can make some fans tune out. But it’s also been close to seven years — a few more months, in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t change much. I’m as anxious as the next fan to hear new music, but I can also see how we got here. The intervening years have not been empty or idle. Very grateful she is still around and still feeling inspired artistically.

markm Posted February 6 Posted February 6 With two COADF vinyls just announced for April Coachella in April for possible promo, The Devil Wears Prada 2 released in May then I think March/April for the first single and May for the album.
