They sadly seemed designed to gain press coverage in the hope it will help the album. Popular is the only song I still hear being played on the radio and I would wager success by that. Thats not to say they’re all bad. I genuinely love Crave. But does anyone truly want collabs after waiting 7 years?

Popular, the closest she's been to a "hit" since MX, was massive on Spotify for almost a year but stalled at number 60 (ish?) on Billboard, I think. Granted, it did much better in the UK and, if I'm not mistaken, Germany. But still, she was the featured artist in that song, and some radio stations even had the nerve to cut her verse. I'd be thrilled with a critically acclaimed album with *some* staying power and a strong first single that can give her at least a Padam moment. Anything beyond that would be amazing, of course, but I'm keeping my expectations in check. Above all, I think I want Madonna to regain some of the confidence she's lost since RH, especially in TV appearances. You know, that woman who used to take the stage and mesmerize everyone. Someone who was in full command of her craft. That little magic had been missing for a while, and it seems that she got (most of) it back during CT. But who can blame her, really? The past ten years haven't been exactly kind to her: cape gate at the Brits, leak gate, Drake's reaction to her kiss, backlash after the Prince tribute, mobility issues during MX, Eurovision backlash, Grammy photo, the list goes on and on. And she's not Joan of Arc - not yet. But maybe CT was the confidence boost she needed, and now she's ready to deliver the goods and show everyone why she's the fuckin queen.
