Very true.

If Sabrina has recorded with Madonna and it’s all been kept total secret until the video shoot, I believe this will be the very first time a lead single collaboration has ever been kept under wraps until music video….??

Where is the info that she's collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter? On Tik tok or where?

No, I think what Dazed said (keep streaming La Bambola) was meant as “nothing is imminent” when others were pressing him because: Pensiero Stupendo/second commercial; February 13/14 was the second special date (after the last Fri in January came and went — all of which was from LindebergBoy); the Grammys were coming etc etc. So it was like he was saying, all those rumors are not substantiated by what he’d seen.

Someone else (to my recollection) initially mentioned March 27 … but someone pointed out later that they could have seen a schedule that just said MADONNA (and they misinterpreted) … OR … they saw the code name “Disco Nights” (like Naptime) and didn’t know it would end up being silver series COADF. So … yeah, they had access to something, but … it didn’t actually matter in terms of the new album.

I could be wrong, but I thought Mystical Green Unicorn said the March 27. Either that or it was stated privately by someone who quietly exited the Infinity forum’s thread about it, and created their own site or server dedicated to rumors. And then it was repeated on Infinity by someone like LindebergBoy, so … he may appear right, but he wasn’t the actual source.

were "disco nights" and "naptime" actually listed on a release schedule somewhere?

Naptime was — way back in the day, for a previous RSD, I think? That was the Untold Chapter of Bedtime Stories.

Disco Nights was definitely the code name. (Several online listings immediately after the announcement displayed the name incorrectly as Disco Nights, but the descriptions and product photos were the silver COADF. The only thing wrong was the code name as the title.) Whether that caused the 3/27 misunderstanding is conjecture, but pretty likely.

"keep streaming" meaning nothing else is coming?

who was the one who said something was coming on 3/27 and then we found out COADF vinyl is being reissued that day? they were either mistaken (but do have some inside info, if vague) or both things are actually happening on that day. we need to compile all of the info from the various sources in one thread in chronological order like the genesis timelines. 😅

anyone who was on set knows something. they probably signed an NDA.

they probably all signed NDAs. or there's a placeholder song being used until the last minute.

as we already talked about, even if the DWP2 rumor is false, there's nothing unusual about a Q2 release for an album that was still being recorded/mixed at the end of last year.

Sorry, what does NDA Stand for?

I'm sorry, but every time she's collaborated with someone it's been a failure.

I wouldn't mind, in fact I would love a collaboration with Daft Punk, Weekend, Rosalía and a few others...

But Sabrina? No, please! I wanted a first solo single.

Let's wait to find out more details and the final result.

but… 🤨

To some degree, I do enjoy Sabrina, but I think she lacks the gravitas. The rumour doesn't excite me.

I think it would be epic if it was true.  Plus Sabrina is a true fan, so for her it would be a dream come true.

We had a similar reaction with Dua Lipa (even though it was just for a remix). It changed nothing. I'd rather have her album solo, with a good release strategy

But choosing to have a featuring on the first single of the new album is a release strategy. She's done it many times, in some cases it worked ( and some would say It was a good release strategy), in others it didn't (and many would say it was a bad release strategy). Obviously I'm talking in terms of sales or streaming. What we hardcore fans prefer is another matter.

Her collaboration with Justin Timberlake and The Weeknd were not failures.

This is absolutely not true. Relax. Your doom posts are getting old.

Sabrina discussed meeting Madonna in this interview about 5 months ago, noting that she was lovely and has been very supportive of her career.

Does anyone have any information on when they met?

Maybe Sabrina was being tight lipped about a collaboration: Notice how she says "I will definitely tell her that I have it", Implying they are stll in contact.

'Down for Madonna-Rosalia combo. I expect it to be spicy hot! But won't mind a Sabrina feature either.

They will have to film the video a week apart as per The Substance rules

I love Sabrina. I’ve said it around here a few times, but I think she’s incredibly self aware, savvy, and has a deep appreciation for the Greats that came before her. Her music isn’t anything groundbreaking by any means, but she has a sharp wit with an ear for pop music unlike any of her contemporaries. Plus, her visuals are funny as hell, bright, and vibrant in a sea of dirge.

I can absolutely see why Madonna would want to work with her.

Madonna's peak in US & UK with collab songs

"Me Against the Music" with Britney Spears #35 & #2. It was a disappointment because of the star level and being both artists first big collab but the song did OK and it was not a flop. Their previous lead singles didn't to much better at the time.
"American Life"#37 & #2
"Slave 4 U" #27 & #4

"4 Minutes" with Justin Timberlake. #3 & #1 HUGE HIT.

"Revolver" with Lil Wayne. #130 in the UK. FLOP, but it had ZERO promo.

"Give Me All Your Luvin'" with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. #10 & #37. It did what it had to do in the USA, but it was a flop in the UK.

"Bitch I'm Madonna" with Nicki Minaj #84 in the USA. It did OK in the USA after the first 2 singles where nowhere to be fund in the charts (Living For Love was a HUGE flop)

"Medellín" with Maluma #87 in the UK & "Crave" with Swae Lee. Both "flops" but Madonna was already having trouble charting her own songs and both artists were neither big in the USA or UK.

"Levitating" with Dua Lipa & "Break My Soul" with Beyonce. Both remixes, ZERO promo with Madonna and their original versions were much more popular than this remixes.

"Vulgar" with Sam Smith #69 in the UK (love that peak position). A flop, but again ZERO promo.

"Popular" with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti. #43 & #10. A HIT and one her longest charting songs ever.

So, she is very hit and miss with her collaborations, but I feel a Sabrina Carpenter one could help her reach a Top 50 in the USA and Top 10 in the UK if this the first single from the album with all the COAD2 hype and has proper promo (video, radio and streaming push, live performance)

Looking over this, I d say the collabs have all been flops minus JT and PROBABLY the Weeknd, but that song felt very the Weeknd and Madonnas presence is not really felt I guess. I like Popular (though I prefer other more pop Weeknd songs), but I never really considered it hers.

I would argue that MATM and BIM are kind of considered ‘cult classics’ at this point tho with her LGBTQ audience? Def not classic hits by any definition, but they’re still played and widely know among her gay fans for sure.

If she is shooting a video with Sabrina for the 1st single then she isn't doing the soundtrack for DWP2...

I do miss her soundtrack song days ...she almost always did a one off soundtrack song before she released her own solo album, usually 6 8 months apart.

She could also be filming (have filmed) all the music videos for the singles from the new album as she did with Madame X...

my ideal situation, now, would be a Solo banger tied to the DWP2 soundtrack in May and then Album release with lead single (collab with Sabrina if required) in September
