Icykiller Posted January 10 Posted January 10 @vesper_wolf @Beastialg right! Forgot about Golden, that's probably the one true soundtrack song that has become a major hit in recently years. The others such as Kate's RUTH and Sophie's murder is more a case of reinteoduced classics to newer audiences. Similar to LAP in Deadpool. Still, I don't see the point of linking M's new song to DWP. The movie might as well flop, so I don't see many advantages to the strategy.

But the movie won’t flop, it’s guaranteed to generate huge interest and a take decent amount at the box office. Even if it’s critically panned, movie has got a huge following with big anticipation. I can’t see Madonna losing anywhere if she gets a new song into the film. Any music used in the sequel will enjoy some kind of traction.

If the movie (or TV Show) is a hit and the song is used properly on it (and its great), it can sure help with exposure and promotion. We have several examples where new and olds songs get a huge push thanks to the movie/tv show they are in. The Devil Wears Prada 2 was the most viewed trailer in 2025. So chances for the movie to flop are slim. As I mentioned, I would rather they try something new (DWP2 + (new) TV Shows performances + FIFA World CUP, all in May and June) than go the obvious route (Grammys)
luizotaviobarros Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I'd love to hear the song on DWP, but I wonder how much it'd bump streams? Jump went nowhere in the US after the first movie, right? That said, it is the only song besides HU that influencers like Jacob and Beth said sounded vaguely familiar, so the movie might have something to do with that. Besides, Shazan wasn't a thing back then (right?), so people were less likely to search for the song anyway.

It’s hard to measure really as streaming didn’t exist in 2005 and they released Jump a good 3 months after Devil Wears Prada was released. It was a top ten hit across Europe but I don’t think it did much in America. But it was the 3rd single from COADF and she was already on tour so she never promoted it really. By that point in her career, having huge 3rd & 4th singles were over as well.

By that point in her career, having huge 3rd & 4th singles were over as well. Jump was the 4th single from COAD and did (slightly) better than Get Together. It's her best performing 4th single since The Power of Goodbye. As mentioned, no streaming in 2005-6 which would actually have helped. And the song did good with single sales. Problem was that Hot 100 relied heavily on Top 40 radio and that didn't give a chance to any COAD single. Even Hung Up got middling airplay in the USA.

For most territories outside of America it did pretty well, but as you say, American radio didn’t give any COADF single a real chance. As Jump was released months and months after the film, it couldn’t benefit instantly from streams after people watched it. Thats the major difference here. It’s not just about a single in the Devil sequel (although that’s obviously preferable) it’s about generating steams for the individual songs on COADF2 which will help the album steams. Had Jump been released in conjunction with the film in 2005, I think it would have done better for obvious reasons.
bard Posted January 10 Posted January 10 so glad we're still talking about something that's based entirely on fan speculation/fantasy! regarding the music video, surely we would have seen some reports of casting calls, especially for a dance video? even when the MX videos were being shot, lots of details emerged, especially for "god control" and "dark ballet." that's not to say they aren't keeping a tighter wrap on things this era, but would expect something about casting or location by now...

I hear you. I totally agree nothing is confirmed and it’s totally fan speculation. I suppose it’s wrapping up incidents where music in film/TV have benefitted recent releases and Madonna and airing that it would be a cracking choice as part of the album campaign this year to raise awareness. I agree with you about the music video. I find it very hard to believe an entire shoot over several days has been kept top secret. I did think last year in November when the album was being finished off (the IG post of M&Stuart) that she would enjoy Christmas and shoot it this month. I haven’t changed my mind about that but I am impressed the D&G commercial was kept a secret for almost an entire year.

Nikki Posted January 12 Posted January 12 NEW ERA ON THE WAY? It certainly seems so. On Sunday night, Madonna updated her profile and cover images across her social media platforms, including Spotify, YouTube and Facebook. The move has fueled speculation about a new phase in the Queen of Pop’s career. According to insiders, the first single from this new era could be released later this month, in January. laurasouzamvb https://www.instagram.com/p/DTY8_TtgAwz/?img_index=3

Her team is doing the Lord‘s work on a part-time basis, I see.
strepentijger Posted January 12 Posted January 12 She also updated madonna.com with the same picture?!

Fabulous. So it sounds like these photo uploads are just to plug the gap now between D&G drop & the actual official lead single/album cover being announced. Cant wait to see the official album cover
