What is allá this about Devil Wears Prada? The first one did nothing for Jump, and the only reason LAP had some traction due to Deadpool is because LAP is already a classic. Can anyone give me an example of a soundtrack song that has become a hit recently? Because imho the days of big soundtrack hits are long gone.

I take your point it isn’t going to bag her a massive chart hit BUT….

It’s not just about a short term chart hit on the main charts, it’s about generating interest and streams towards the song and album.

So a placement in a huge film like Devil would absolutely do that. It’s more about making the public aware Madonna has brand new music out.

they should just add Taylor or Bruno to the new single to get those streams

But with multiple positive appearnces from Madonna herself, it will put the fact she is back with a new album on the radar to the mainstream.

Usually it’s 1 or 2 big interviews & an awards performance.

There great, but this time I think she would benefit from multiple podcasts & a YT exclusive performance of tracks of the album to maximise visibility online, a big radio interview campaign force them to play her new song.

It does require Madonna in person to get behind it as well, not just WB whoring the lead single out on every playlist for 2 weeks.

I mean of course, I’m not saying I think Madonna shouldnt or doesn’t need to do anything herself. Obviously the more the better, what fan doesn’t want to see her out there talking about and supporting her new music as much as she’s willing to do. I don’t anticipate Kylie level of hustling but it would be amazing to see her maybe put a bit more into this spread out over a longer period of time. I was actually shocked how much Mariah did to support her new album and would love to see more from Madonna. Especially considering how much higher quality the product will be with her album.

Why couldn’t it be both coming soon and in devil wears Prada? I thought everyone wants longevity? If they’re going to try and create some legs to the song that would require tactics in both the short and longer term, so I don’t see how one precludes the other.

yeah, i said this to someone else on here a few days ago - the idea that the premiere of the song would somehow be tied to the release date of a movie she's not otherwise involved in just doesn't make much sense. not only would it be only one tiny piece of a larger PR campaign, there's zero evidence that there will be a new song in the film anyway. it's completely fan-made.

Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else, but do we know if there are any others collaborators, songwriters or producers, on her upcoming album or is it solely a Madonna-Price product?

Micco, looks like it'll be Price + other producers, with Price tying the whole thing together.

Unless, of course, the other producers she's following on IG and has *allegedly* worked with were brought in for a remix album or something.

But the only official bit of information we have so far (from the Warner post last year) says 'produced by S Price'.

I think it’s sloppy amateur uploading, which is unforgivable, it’s so fucking easy to get the basics right.

Don't tell me you're now losing faith in WB's ability to effectively manage the launch of the new album after having welcomed M's return under their banner with great enthusiasm.

Not entirely, no.

I am thankful she isn’t under Interscope anymore and I do think the WB new album roll out will be very different from the legacy releases.

But

I do believe WB have made mistakes with La Bambola is mislabelling it online but it’s far more important to get the lead single right over the D&G exclusive.

But it’s still so amateur nevertheless.

I totally agree with you on this.

But it won't be so. In fact, up to now no close date for the release of the first single has yet been announced.

No but it can’t be far off.

I know nothing. But.

I predict the lead single will drop next month with album announcement, I think the rest of January will be silent on the album.

Hasn’t M said herself that she wanted COADF to be 100% a dance album and that’s even why they made it a continuous mix? Yes, there are a few slower moments like “Forbidden Love,” but it’s still a dance record through and through.

I hope M16 is has the same etheral vibe

Thank you for the correct numbering! #M16 😘

Sophie Ellis Bextor's "Murder on a dancefloor" peaked recently due to that movie... I already forgot it's name.

If shows counts too, Kate Bush had her biggest peak after Stanger things in 2022.

Back in the day people couldn't just look up a song that easily and rarely would buy it but nowadays with streaming, a song in hit movie/show can absolutely hugely benefit, much more than before.

I feel like it’s so obvious, especially with the album delay. All eyes are going to be on The devil wears prada too. It’s the most anticipated movie of 2026. Madonna and Warner will definitely be riding that train. There is a reason why they must have chosen a lead single with vogue like rap of all the designer houses.

Saltburn.

Yes, getting a song into a film,TV show or video game is great exposure for a song.

If she released a physical, got the song in a film and got some playlisting, she could get a big hit.

Agree. If Warners can land a sync in a massive movie like DWP2 then that’s brilliant and it would certainly help with the longevity of the song, but the idea they’d structure the whole album campaign around it is bizarre. I am on board with the theory that it could fit nicely in the movie but beyond that, we should not pin hopes on it. There are hundreds of other ways the song could cut through.

licensing her work for TV, film, and commercials is absolutely essential moving forward. it's very effective. that said, the two examples you cited are the exceptions. it's like trying to make something go viral. you can put a song in something, but it doesn't mean it's going to explode. even LAP underperformed compared to the hype some fans were peddling. it's best to keep expectations low. and again, there is ZERO info suggesting a new song will be featured in the movie. so this conversation is kind of a waste of time... for now.

100% agree.

it depends how its used in the film, backstreet bois benefitted more as their song was used in the beginning of the film with iconic dance moves (and it actually charted pretty high)

also, lap choir version did better than the regular version but she forgot to sing in it (thus missing the credit), lol

i just clicked on madonna's "fever" video on youtube and bruno mars's new video came up as an "ad" - if i didn't click "skip" the entire music video would have played. that's the kind of shit warner needs to do. but they probably won't.

hard to say but we've seen this stuff going on with the uploads of her maxi-singles, etc. for years now - and i'm pretty sure that was done by someone at warner.

They were doing this with Hung Up a couple months ago (or maybe they're still doing it, idk I have YT Premium 😛).

Do we know for sure that there was a video shoot last month?

yes, her entire  team was in London. Maybe they did the album shoot.

The only thing that I want is an official press release about the new album 😊 and I hope we get one this month.

On the other hand it’s fascinating that they have managed to keep everything under wraps so far 😱

No we don’t it’s only an insider source.

We know nothing officially and nobody has leaked anything form a video shoot set either.

I would be VERY impressed if Madonna managed to keep a music video under the radar and totally secret BUT the commercial was a top secret until very recently…..

At an educated guess I would say the album is now totally finished and ready to be sent to factories to press, and I do believe the album artwork was shot in London with her creative team last month.

But it’s all guesses. But it’s very exciting to hear the titbits from insiders but I take them all with a grain of salt.

I‘m totally impatient now 😅

We are all so blessed that our Queen is still so active 🥰 we get a new album soon. We should be grateful 😀

Golden 8 weeks #1 Hot 100, 18 weeks #1 Global

Something more in line with DWP? The Barbie Soundtrack was full of hits. Dua Lipas "Dance The Night" was a Top 10 everywhere.
