@Confessit — in response to your question above — this is how I interpreted the insider comment immediately above. Could be wrong, of course.

I hear you hun!

Oh I’m not sure I read it that way, but could be!

It would be the first time she has called an album after the lead single since American Life!

I tend to think of it as the “code name” of sorts … yes, it could be a public working title, too, in a sense. But I never really bought that she will actually title it COADF 2. (Again, I could be wrong.) So, if that assumption is correct (that she won’t literally use “2” as the title) — then she likely had a private working title (that she and close associates like Stuart might know, but she’d not be hashtagging it on IG).

I was thinking exactly the same as you for months, that Madonna was only using the COADF part 2 tag as hype & to create buzz for the album.

But now she has teased interviews from the era and is re-wearing clothes from the era I do think she is going to use the title officially for marketing purposes. But I hope theres a unique interesting twist on it and it isn’t just plain old part 2

If she focused on legacy too much, she’d have been seen as “past it” and “cringe” and “living in the past” or “resting on her laurels.” I highly doubt that the youth culture would be celebrating her any more if she had been *more* self-referential and self-celebrating earlier in her career. (One recent YouTube reactor reviled the self-references in VVV when listening to RH, just as one anecdotal instance.)

She’s done some legacy stuff — it has to be a balance. I know they aren’t mutually exclusive (to make new music and to celebrate your legacy) — but to say she didn’t do enough of one also means we may have gotten less of the other. And fans haven’t exactly been embracing the increase of self-references since 2012. Of those efforts, the Celebration Tour seems to have been the most well received — which is very much legacy on her own terms. (But unless they upload the Rio show footage for free on YouTube, I kinda doubt that generation is gonna connect with it — and even then, the attention spans probably would require bite-size portions of it to be digested in increments.) Fans want the rare vault material, sure, but are those the best introductions to M for a neophyte? We fans want to hear Right On Time and Love Won’t Wait (et al.) in pristine quality, but is that really gonna capture the Gen Z admiration? Not likely.

I’m not talking re-issues, vaults, chapters or whatever. The mere fact that she does not have a proper team around her ever since she left Warner in 2009 who up until that point had payed for everything - especially promo and PR in general - and then Interscope/Live Nation didn’t, brought us to where we are now. I don’t know if she was too cheep, narrow-minded or whatever. But, not having curated her YouTube / Spotify situation a decade ago or having somebody like Liz R on top of a social media mafia to counteract the bullshit the media and other fandoms have done to her is the fucking problem why people don’t give two flying fucks about her either as a legacy act or contemporary artist.

It doesn’t matter what she does now, the damage is done; chances are the new album will follow a hot mess of a promo like so many other things this past decade. The album will do what it does, and that’s it.
I can only hope the songs will be well-written/produced and have a coherent theme/message. I have zero expectations beyond that.

I hear you and I totally understand because post-WB the roll outs of her albums have been messy and at times, down right bizarre and it left us all gob smacked.

But

She isn’t with Interscope anymore she is back with WB, I am not saying that magic’s everything but it does mean a fresh new approach to handling her new album. Just because of the sloppy campaigns we got under Interscope doesn’t automatically mean it will continue. It is a change of guard at the top.

VE and TUC say hi.

I hear you.

But they are not brand new albums.

The biggest mistake was not having a CD ready for VE which they appear to have made up for with UC.

Madonna wasn’t willing to any promotion for them, I'm not sure what WB could have done to better promote them? The fact they offer the bare bones in terms of content is ultimately decided by Madonna, not WB, they can try and convince her on what to include, but it’s her back catalogue and she decides how much to include.

The marketing budget must be small for the legacy campaign but I would hope WB will put more up for the new album, with Madonna on board to promote it as well.

I do think the legacy campaign and new album campaign are totally different projects with totally different approaches from WB. Madonna wasn’t even on their books for new music until 4 months ago.

Sure thing.

😘😘

Oh I dunno sometimes I think we can get blind sighted with what WB are able to actually do.

All I saw when Untold Chapter was released was all of us pull it apart and criticise it. It wasn’t showered with love, and that’s from her own hardcore fanbase, the very fanbase that the EP was designed for.

Yet we all expected it to do so much better when the results came in, but WB can only go so far

The new album is different of course because that will be aimed at mainstream audience not just hardcore fandom. Which is kinda the point I’m making.

Am I the only one who thinks the roll out for BS TUC was actually messier than for VE?

I’m not sure about messier apart from the fact the nobody seemed to receive the vinyl/CD on release day but I don’t think that’s WB fault but the delivery carriers.

I’m not convinced it’s going to be the title, anyway. The rumor is that the working title was the same as the first single… However …

It’s not like the 2005 album’s “confessions” implied everything on the album she sang about was a sin. There are multiple meanings of “confession” (and more than one are religious, even) … you’re right that “absolution” would narrow the scope to one meaning of “confession” … but, Madonna has been clear, too, that she doesn’t regret anything artistically, but that she does have private/personal regrets. Madonna’s not any more perfect than the rest of humanity. We all fall short, and we all need forgiveness. She seems to be talking about forgiveness as a concept, so it’s on her mind. Perhaps it’ll only be one song, and that may not merit an album title referring to it broadly. But I don’t think that, if she did reference it, she’d be renouncing the whole of her four-decade career. Not like she’s getting herself off to a nunnery and taking vows to become a nun or something. (I’m being a little facetious, in case the “humor” isn’t translating.)

I understang the humor, don't worry

I know Madonna likes to play with the meaning of words. I never considered "confessions" to have a more religious meaning, even though I know some people do. Now, the word "absolution" has a more religious definition for me, and I believe many people will think so too. I understand what you meant; perhaps she's seeking absolution in family/personal matters. Perhaps there is another way to express in words this feeling of seeking forgiveness.

Rumors suggest she will use the words "gold" and "soul." I don't know if there's any explanation in any religion, but look what I found. There is a certain connection between this explanation and the interview she gave to Jay Sheety this year:

The golden soul is your solar body that you must perfect yourself in order to obtain. Please understand that what I just said is for language sake only. In truth there is nothing to obtain, as it is yours already. This is the spiritual work that is done to reveal that you have it.

To say this differently, one now has the seed of the soul. When a person becomes self-realized or has a Samadhi moment, they realize they are more than this body. They realize they are the soul. With that the spiritual path must be worked to move toward that soul. This is the planting of the seed soul into the ground to be cultivated.

To make a long story short, one then works to remove all desires. This lessens the hold that the ego has on a person’s spiritual growth.

Being that we have 49 levels of consciousness, we must remove the desires is each at lower and lower, more subtle levels.

When one has completed that, then the concept of what desires are and the ego is must also be erased completely so they do not return to consciousness.

When all this is done, one obtains the solar body that shines like the sun or like GOLD.

These are the Christ, Krishnas, Buddhas, who come to the physical world to teach us how to do the same. Because the population has become so focused on worldly matters, these teachings have been with-held from all but the special people who have dedicated their lives to religious or spiritual beliefs.

However, because mystics are seeing the direction people are taking society, these teachings are being brought back to help save those who want to be saved.

Again, this statement is for language sake only. The teachings are for those who see the sorrow in the world and want more for themselves. They want to go beyond all this drama.

Not the only one. They already have it and didn’t know what to do. That was supposed to be released months ago and for whatever reason it wasn’t so they already need to do some with it before the new album.

They’ll be another massive statement published by Ragazzo shortly then, over explaining in another huge word salad 🤣

Remember when DrownedMadonna confirmed that Madonna would not be visiting Rio with her Celebration Tour and belittled fans who thought she would? These people are all lunatics, just desperate to act condescending and “break” news.

Didn’t DrownedMadonna get quite a lot of the Celebration setlist wrong as well in many of their early insider info ahead of opening night?

But with Madonna, things can always change up to the last minute. Tracklists, setliists, artwork, lead single, tour hair. Even if I were an insider, to leak any info is a high risk of looking a fool.

and it's rather rich of them to be silent for years and now suddenly pop up and shut down all the online sources and give themselves credit (while not posting anything new)

The only person we should be listening to is DazedMadonna from Infinity.

To be honest I agree. DazedMadonna have really emerged this entire era thus far with great write exclusive ups, not huge long hot air essays like Ragazzo who also speaks as if they are Madonna’s official spokesperson. It’s rather scary & a tad disturbing.

Yeah, they've got no right to say that about anyone else because they do it themselves lol. That Giampiero guy is well known for it.

Who knows! What it feels like for an insider i have no idea truth be told!

To be fair there was an interview with Itaú’s CEO when he explained that during the recording of the Itaú ad in Paris, negotiations were not on the table yet and he had like a vision and made Madonna film the “Brazil, I’m coming” just to have it on their vaults and then the negotiations started until the very last minute before the announcement so…

Exactly, they've got room to talk, because they do exactly the same themselves lol. That Giampiero guy is well known for what he's accusing Raggazo of.

Yep. Both of them act like the almighty Oracle when it comes to all things Madonna, but know just as much (or little) as the rest of us. lol
