Stuart won’t disappoint us. I think we have every reason to be confident about this new single. During one of his TCT DJ sets, I was in the pit, and I shouted “we fucking need you to produce her next album!”. I got the biggest smile in response. He knew .

yeah but i think people are quick to gush about something simply because it sounds familiar in some way (especially if you've only heard it once or even just a snippet, which is probably the most these folks have heard). for example, i think IDSIF a cool track because it's a throwback to that sound we all love and a reminder of her heyday, but is it a great song in its own right? not really.

Like everyone else, the latest news that Anne posted has me so excited for new Madonna. To compare the new single to Vogue is wild though, so we're in for a treat if it's even as half as good as that, or Hung Up. The gold heart is very intriguing. I do like the idea of the title being simply "Gold" or even "Heart of Gold". It already sounds like a hit without hearing a single note, tbh. lol

Hope it's not another disappointing first single, because since 2012 she has been the worst at choosing them. MDNA and RH are the glowing examples. I m not gonna expect greatness, I wanna be positively surprised. I trust Stuart and WB if they have an input in choosing the single. I m happy for Kylie's N1 in UK and kind of hope Madonna delivers/connects with the public/ have another zeitgeist moment and a N1 single, at least in Europe. It has been ages!!! I want her to have commercial success with her singles!

Yeah, I think we all do even though some fans say "chart success doesn't matter".  Seeing Madonna back at the top with a great song / album would be fantastic, and would certainly annoy certain quite a few fanbases. lol Although, I'm not expecting a #1, tbh.

That's so cool! I'm just avoiding having unrealistic expectations. I fully trust Stuart to deliver, though. His set at CT was nothing short but amazing and he knows how to make Madonna sounds amazing.

I do think she still has viability as a commercial artist if the first single is a banger. 

My tiktok feed has many people discovering her 90s output and I've been noticing more people embracing her nowadays rather than just focus on how her face has changed. Things seem to be aligning perfectly for her.

They are the same fans who will be all over it when everything starts to happen, the song drops, Madonna promotes, streaming numbers start coming in, the song starts getting positive acclaim and the album is released….

….if Madonna causes noise virally, or bags another #1 album, or goes in the higher end of the charts in some territories with her lead single, IMO the same fans who don’t care will be putting the flags out.

I feel the same way. Interesting lyrics, Ok production, but very weak melody, which goes absolutely nowhere.

I agree as well.

It is nothing like Vogue in reality, the strings are there and of course it’s a nod to classic house, but the structure of the song is flat & boring compared to the mighty Vogue that has one of the most infectious choruses of her career.

IDSIF is like a line of coke.

Vogue is a bomb of MDNA.

The D&G perfume The One isn’t that Gold is colour & design ? 

Could there be a connection of some kind between the lead singles title/lyrics and the fact the perfume is gold ?

Maybe a cross over of themes? The song is suppose to be featuring in the campaign after all….

January 16th: new single is out

Yeh I agree.

Unless everything is ready like the music video, I think the D&G campaign will serve as a preview.

The song will be released officially as the lead single to Spotify/physical copies along with an announcement of the album/release date/front cover and pre-orders to begin later on in January.

I actually think it could be later than January 16th, possibly Friday 30th January IF she is performing at the Grammys.

To be honest, I can’t remember my first reaction to it, but yes you are right, we did know the title pre-song.
If you were to read the lyrics of HU before hearing the song, I think they read as cheesy.

I suppose the point I’m making is until we hear the song we can’t really judge to much out of context.

I do wonder if all the gold theme could connect to D&G? The Perfume design for The One is gold.
