AlvaroLiam Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 This is a mess… but in a fun way lmao Each time we think we're close to the real thing, everything changes. I love not being able to know what to expect anymore.
DreamTheater Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 OK, better not to take anything too seriously and just wait for official announcements. The title of this thread is very appropriate after all.
dollhouse Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 This must be most ridicilous rumour rollout ever I preferred the other Patty song but Ill take La Bambola, if thats really comin, lol
JayMac Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 Madonna has not been asked to provide any music for the new D&G campaign launching January 9th, 2025. Let’s move on already.

I’d imagine it will prompt some nostalgia for many who heard it first time round, but it was 50 years ago. I am assuming Stuart has produced it so we should be getting a nice updated version. It will be such an amazing moment for Italy

At least my Italian friends are not really into the idea of Madonna covering Patty Pravo. Would you say, for instance, Madonna covering Cilla Black for an ad would be an amazing moment for the UK?

Well, because Madonna has never sang a song in Italian before, so I think that in itself is something. Plus, from what I can gather, Patty is something of a legend in Italy, so again that is something. I suppose the point I am making is the advert & the fact Madonna is singing Bambola will mean something to Italians that it won’t pretty much everywhere else. Oh Cilla Black God Bless Her She’s a huge British star of old, so to answer your Q yes, it would mean something to us over here because Cilla is a big part of British popular culture, but to the rest of the world it would be largely insignificant. So when I say it will be a moment for Italy I just mean that really. Of course I appreciate they’ll be many Italians who don’t care Madonna’s is signing it, but I’d imagine they’ll be an entire Italian generation who remembers Bambola hitting it big the first time round…..

The song is from the 60s. People who were 20 then are pushing 80 now and probably won't even know Madonna is covering it, I doubt D&G are aiming for the senior crowd. Younger people probably don't know or care about a song from 60 years ago. Hell, most don't care for stuff from 20 years ago and think Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny invented music. And people who are in the middle of those demographics in Italy might have an opinion on the artist and/or the song and/or Madonna covering it that doesn't have to be favorable.

I totally hear you on that! I don’t think it will have major impact anyways, I have never bought into the worldwide exposure thing regarding the D&G campaign, although I absolutely agree it will bring her some attention and put her back in fashion glossy print. I’m not Italian so I can only assume, and I do fully agree with you it’s a very old song and Patty is also very old, so the younger generations of Italy probably don’t know it as much, but I bet they are still aware of it. For the majority of the rest of the world, they won’t have a clue what Madonna is singing. It’s not just the fact it’s an old Italian cover, it’s the fact Madonna is singing in the advert in Italian period that I think will impact the most very obviously in Italy. It would be the same if she sang in French, the impacts greater in France vs elsewhere. I agree with everything you are saying, I’m not at all suggesting Italian coffee shops are going to be full of conversation about Madonna’s new advert, or that the gay clubs are going to be broadcasting it on wide screens, BUT I think it will be far more of a talking point in Italy than anywhere else. The D&G campaign I think will be more significant domestically than internationally purely because of the choice made for Madonna to sing the Italian cover. 41 minutes ago, dollhouse said: its a difficult song as everyone knows it there, much like American Pie situation But im sure she can make it her own.. For what it's worth, here's a live performance of "La Bambola" from a year ago: Both "La Bambola" and "Pensiero stupendo" are among her greatest hits, and Patty Pravo herself is one of the biggest-selling Italian artists of all time.

Yeh I’ve read Patty is big business in Italian pop music history. I do think next month Madonna will receive the biggest amount of press from Italy for this very reason. I can also see (maybe) some italian radio stations playing Madonna’s version of Bambola if it’s made available to them next month as well.

bard Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 it always made more sense to include the italian cover in the ad, regardless of whether it's on the album or not. the lead single should have its own proper standalone launch. i don't want to hear 30 seconds of it the background of a commercial a month before it drops.

If the lead single is happening in January, I would say it would have been a great opportunity to get the lead single involved in the campaign. But it feels to me as if the D&G campaign will be enjoyed as a stand alone project for a little while leading into the album campaign. Either way it’s an exciting way to start 2026!

Prayer85 Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 I'm away one day and I find all these hypotheses. How do you confirm that the commercial features the cover of "La Bambola"? Any trusted insiders? Wasn't the new single supposed to be released in January? Sorry, but I'm lost.
