Give Trump an excuse to execute martial law across the country? I would probably argue that outside of the very blue states, most Americans don't care about what he's doing to Venezuela. Only the liberal people (clearly a minority in this country) probably care and they're not the violent types to try and overthrow the government. I think the world will find some way to teach America a lesson, probably a financial one, and then people who supported him will realize (too late) what they've done by electing him. Quote

I lost hope after 19832874387 elections... hell I even thought when Chavez died (and yes! I was GLAD he died) some change or something good might finally happen with Venezuela, but it didnt... No-one supported Maduro, but to accept that its ok for USA to just go into a country and arrest their leaders (even if not rightfully elected...) is so unlawful. It breaches all the articles of the UN Charter. The grounds for this according to Trump/Rubio is that Venezuela is the Western Hemisphere so USA has the right to do what it feels like it needs to do (practically all!). If that is accepted what happens with the other hemispheres? Who is entitled to just go into any given sovereign state and change its leadership, because they don't like it? Also, USA doesn't even pretend its not about the oil... Because OK today its Maduro, but what about if USA or RU or China just go into a sovereign state, a democratic one, with elected government and just change it because they don't like certain policy etc.? It goes back to the prewar period of imperalism where the strongest or stronger state just goes into another and does what it feels like. Its so wrong on so many levels, above all it contradicts international law. Quote
