I think the albums official announcement all depends on IF they are really releasing the lead single THIS year and waiting to drop the album NEXT year. 

The album will have a pre-order period, as that is the typical roll out for most pop album releases today, the industry standard is between 3-8 weeks.

Madame X was officially announced & available for pre-order on April 17th and released June 14th. That’s 2months.

I would assume Warners will want the new album to have the benefit of at least 2 months of pre-orders.

My 2 scenarios are:

If they going to release the lead single in November, I can imagine the album and the lead single being announced together in November, and the album released in January.

Or they announce the album in November but release it with the lead single in February next year, which is more in line with her previous release history.

I don’t think we will get any sort of announcement this month, I think they will want to get the lead single video ready first.

Gone are the days when you needed weeks and weeks apart of projects, it all drops at the same time these days.

I personally think the new album/era will be announced with the lead single in November.

My guess is that she'll probably release the first single around the COADF anniversary to amplify the excitement for the new record. I would love another pocket show like the ones she did at Koko and GAY.

It absolutely feels like it’s going that way. 

She has teased confessions part 2, so it makes sense to drop the lead single on the 20th anniversary and what a start to the new era that would be!

Especially as the lead single is described as Hung Ups true heir 

Then the album to follow early 2016 with the 2nd single.

I was always in the album coming out next year camp, but with artwork only just shot I cannot see how the physical product(s) will be ready in time this year now, it’s already mid September and the designers will still be tweaking the artwork.

I have read many times that the factories that produce vinyls are already backed up until December.

The only question is (I feel) will they release the lead now album later, or the lead & album later.

If no new music is being released before Christmas, then maybe she won’t bother announcing anything until after Christmas. 

Like you, I hope for some club appearances for promo. If she showed up at some clubs and spun some of her new tracks it would be amazing !

After all the teasing, I'm sure she will acknowledge COADF 20th anniversary in one way or another. Which it's ironic, given how many huge anniversaries have come and gone over the last few years.

Btw she must be busy 'cause she has broke her streak of weekly IG posts.

If the album doesn't happen in November, which is most likely now, seeing that not even the first single is being announced yet, I see the album happening on February/March 2026 the earliest.... She never released a studio album on December/January... Are there even rumors of progress in the album's conception?

The last rumours came from Ragazzo. But we haven't had a real album update from her since July 22nd.

Usually she goes silent right before an official announcement, and she’s been silent now for a good two weeks, in which she supposedly shot the album artwork. They’ll need some time to prepare artwork before a single release, so I’m still counting on a November first single release. For Confessions we got the first taste of Hung Up (without the ABBA sample) in the Motorola commercial in September. So maybe she’ll tease us with something in September or October to get the ball rolling somehow.

After teasing Confessions 2 throughout the recording process of the new album, there’s no way Madonna is going to let the 20th anniversary of COADF pass without some serious recognition 

I appreciate anniversaries are not her priority usually, but this is different, it appears the new album is now ready in time for the Confessions anniversary.

She is working with Stuart again, and the album has been inspired by their time together the first time round so it makes sense to acknowledge COADF. She has already set that ball rolling, for her to ignore the anniversary in November wouldn’t make sense.

But that was 2005, releases are very different now.

Previews to lead singles, radio date releases, music video premieres, it was all very spaced out to built anticipation back then, but everything today comes out together in the age of streaming.

Even the biggest pop stars today don’t preview lead singles like that months in advance.

I hope for more teases to keep us going. 

But I think the first time we hear anything from the lead single will be the day it’s released and not before.

Im just not sure we will get a big preview to the lead single like we did with Hung Up in 2005, as things were done very different back then.

These days, everything drops together, song on streaming, videos on YT or within 24 hours. It’s a quick turn around.

Back when COADF came out release strategies were totally different.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the day we all hear the lead single is the day it’s released.

yeah 20 years have passed so i wouldn't necessarily look to the roll-out of COADF to try to figure out how this one will happen. it's more likely to be like her more recent albums... but then this will be a completely different record label, so there's really no predicting how it will go. i think we should just sit back and enjoy the ride.

We're in for a treat, so let's wait and see how it unfolds. We're really closer now, and if she's really going into movie/series mode after M15, then we better enjoy the fuck outta these moments 'cause we don't know when the next era after this will take place.

So far no Instagram post this Tuesday either... Taking into account what ragazzo said about a delay of the plans, as it seems she and her team are working hard these weeks, wondering if they are really trying to meet the initial schedule, and still there is a possibility the album is coming this year, maybe a couple of weeks later than initially planned, like at the of November or 1st week of December.

Very true.

Madonna absolutely might drop a snippet leading up to release day.

The point I was making that’s not really how it’s done today in the age of streaming.

Everything happens at once and the days of snippets, a radio release date, a music video release date all being separate are old fashioned nowadays.

It would be big & bold for Madonna to just drop the lead single out of nowhere to be honest !!

I mean back in 2005 there was a long build up before a big new pop album dropped, those days have gone now.

Unless we are getting 2 singles ahead of this new album (which is probable as time has just about ran out for an album release this year) if the lead single is indeed happening in 2 months time!

I hope Warners throw everything they have at this

I am just grateful as a fan we have a brand new era and album from the Queen!

I was beginning to think studio albums were behind her for good.

Cant wait for IG teases to commence and to hear the lead single

I never said that hun I said the lead single to drop without previews/snippets leading upto it, not the album! No way.

Madonna is not the kind of artist that would benefit from a surprise release.

She is a legacy act who will benefit from a decent pre order period.

To answer your question, Madonna needs all the numbers from pre-orders to give her a big opening week.

I think a surprise drop would massively affect sales vs 2 months of pre-orders, it could cost her a #1 for sure.
