Which member of parliament did even ask for this nonsense? Kirk was no EU citizen, he was in opposition to basically all things the EU stands for, especially from a social point of view. Whoever asked for this moment of silence has made a complete fool out of himself. This person should be ridiculed.

Exactly. What has he done for the EU or Europe in general so that he has to be acknowledged by this EU institution? Even if he was an EU citizen, does his values coincide with the values of the EU? As for those uninformed, the values of the EU are legally defined in art 2 of THE TREATY ON EUROPEAN UNION. The actual article states the following: "Article 2
The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail."

Of course any killing should be condemned.

One of the things I find infuriating is the calls for de-escalating the political rhetoric as if both sides are equally responsible for it... :dry: Particularly when these sentiments come from the moderate types who think they're above it all...

Where were these calls for the last ten years when it came from their Supreme Leader, who built his entire political platform and cult-base on bigoted grievance-identity politics and wanting to smite his enemies? When they staged an entire insurrection to steal an election on? Why so conveniently silent then, but oh-so vocal now?! Ah, because it was all ok as long it was directed towards their enemies (us)...but now that it's one of their own that has gone down - buy his own beliefs/rhetoric - now we have to be lectured to with calls for 'peace' and civility... The AUDACITY.

Not to mention these folks been silent on all the school shootings too...including the ones that happened the very same day...
But oh, they want to finally speak up, now...

yup. from what i've seen today he was radicalized on reddit as a teen and was a "groyper," which is part of the alt-right who believe some in the MAGA movement (like kirk) are too pro-israel. and yet they're still blaming the left and more people will be killed.

That's about as much sympathy and as many neuroresources as Kirk deserves, actually, but I hope plenty of MAGAts will still see it as callous. The blast radius must extend to Trump.

The shooter is a very good shot for a 22-year-old Redditor. I wonder if his gun nut folks are regretting the trips to the shooting range right about now. Oops.

So many young men are so lost. Being raised by the Internet has done something to a lot of people's ability to logically follow a train of thought through to its natural conclusion, and men are naturally more volatile when enslaved by unregulated emotions and hormones. It's beyond my scope and I won't pontificate, but I fear it'll keep getting scarier.

weird how they already had 2 “persons of interest” before this guy.. like why would that first old guy randomly admit to to being a killer when he's not? and then the other one too? feels like they just tossed distractions out there to buy time or something. idk the whole thing’s off

Interestingly, there is a tweet by Nick Fuentes from the 11th of September, telling his followers that taking up arms is not what he stands for. This appears to be before the suspect was identified or basically turned himself in, which tells me that Fuentes knew it was one of his followers who killed Kirk.

And yes, democrats need to fight back much more loudly. They should be part of all the news shows in the coming days and uncover all the lies and hypocrisy of Republicans and MAGA in the last days. They should ask for apologies from people like Nancy Mace, Laura Ingraham, Jesse Watters and many more. Democrats should have realized already that MAGA voters for not care for facts and that they believe this guy who killed Kirk is a woke leftie, despite the overwhelming evidence he is far-right. Democrats need to fight back. Finally. As some tweet said "The high road is closed". (I wonder if Michelle Obama realizes the damage she has done by making that stupid comment "when they go low, we go high". Unless she meant high related to drugs. Drugs taken to escape reality, not having to deal with reality.)
