People think this is about fighting crime or intimidating cities run by democrats. No, Trump is testing how far he can go. And even worse, how far the military is willing to go, to see where the militarys alliance is for future, more sinister actions against the citizens of the U.S. And shockingly, so far everything is working in Trumps favor. The military ignoring the oath they have taken. To serve and defend the constitution, not the president. Using the military against its own citizens is an absolute no go. As I wrote last night, the mere fact that this has to be stated is a problem for Trump. So far this weekend social media has erupted with multiple trending topics which either falsely claimed Trump was dead or asked for proof of life. And while false claims are always unwarranted, the demands for proof of life are absolutely justified, given the circumstances. We all know this, but it’s worth putting it all in context: Trump is nearly eighty years old. He’s morbidly obese. He has an extremely poor diet. He’s spent his life relying on quack doctors to tell him that he’s in perfect health, which suggests that he never has gotten proper medical care. He can’t walk in a straight line. He can barely walk at all. He speaks of being afraid of slipping and falling. He’s suddenly obsessed with worrying about whether he’ll get into heaven. His longtime wound on his hand has grown so large that it can no longer be bandaged, and now appears to be necrotic. He’s displaying numerous symptoms consistent with advanced dementia – a fatal condition. From all possible appearances, Trump is a walking corpse. We’re even at the point where there are media reports about JD Vance supposedly trying to consolidate power within the Trump administration, under the presumption that he could become President soon. There are other media reports about other Republican figures supposedly trying to box Vance out so they’ll have a better shot at running against him in 2028 even if he’s running as an incumbent. You never know whether to trust these kinds of media leaks, because someone is doing the leaking, and it’s always for strategic reasons. But the mere fact that these kinds of leaks are happening is a clear indicator that people within Trump world and the Republican Party are indeed trying to position themselves for if or when Trump dies. It’s worth noting that this is the kind of mad dash power grab that goes on when a King or an Emperor is dying, not a President of the United States. But that’s how Trump has positioned himself, especially during his second term. Everyone around him is either a loyalist sycophant who keeps their job by endlessly praising him, or is pretending to be a loyalist sycophant so they can take advantage of him and his nearly gone cognitive capacity. As I said earlier this week, even if Trump does indeed fit the generally accepted condition of the word dying, there’s no timeframe for that. Someone can be in poor health for years. Someone can even be terminally ill for years. Trump could croak two years from now or two days from now. Either scenario is entirely realistic for an elderly person whose extremely poor health has begun collapsing. If we were to pick an expected timeframe, we would merely be guessing. It’s also theoretically possible that, in spite of his extremely poor and declining health, Trump could live to finish out his term. But given what’s transpired in the past week, what are the odds that Trump still has three and a half years of life left in him? And so we’re in a situation now where the highly realistic possibility of Trump dying in office is now a story. And it’s not going to stop being a story. As Robert Harrington pointed out earlier this week, Trump dying too soon might actually be a bad thing. As things stand, Trump’s extremely low approval rating, incoherently poor decision making, lack of leadership, and now his health problems, are keeping him and his regime from being able to tackle a lot of the evil that they’d love to tackle. Now imagine if Trump succumbed to his health problems tomorrow and JD Vance became President. He’s a bumbler for certain. But he’s not senile. He’s not lumbering around like a corpse. Vance would get a honeymoon period from the media. It would take time for us to force Vance’s sandals and extremism into the national conversation even as the media tried to normalize him. And during that time, Vance and the Republicans would accomplish a whole lot of evil. So what do we do? Do we root for Donald Trump, the worst and most destructive person in the world, to die of failing health as soon as possible? Do we root for Trump to remain barely alive long enough to get in the way of the right wing agenda? In one sense it doesn’t matter, because what we root for will not influence the outcome. Trump will last however long he lasts. That said, the mere specter of Trump’s collapsing health, and the talk of his potentially imminent death, may well end up being the story. It’s difficult enough to govern when you’re fully senile, like Trump has become. It’s even more difficult to govern if the headlines are always about your collapsing health, the media questions are always about whether you’re going to die, and your babysitters have to send you lumbering out there every few days just to prove to the public that you’re not dead.
