I come here several times a day hoping to get some news about the album. Every time pure disappointment. I‘m craving for new music full of desperation 😊

Will there be a new album this year?

That‘s all I want to know at this point. I would be fine with waiting til spring next year 😀

if stuart were to sample an old madonna song, i think it would have to be something from the first album ("everybody" or "holiday") or maybe ITG. annie's "greatest hit" is a great example of how to do it similar to HU:

Always said she should re-release/sample "Everybody", the beats are timeless hard and it deserves big commercial hit

The remix on You Can Dance slaps and ❤️ the Koko performance

We all feel the same.

But sometimes I wonder if we’ve all just missed the point in the excitement and impatience. She said confessions part II. A sequel.

If we are taking her literally, that means a single in October and an album in November. Exactly to mark 20 years.

She said herself new music in 2025. Just because everyone had heard of Hung Up at this stage the last time, that doesn’t mean a first single isn’t being prepped, it just means she’s more lock and key these days which would make sense post 2015.

Let’s wait and see, not too long to find out.

She did but we know better not to take anything she says too literally on social media 🤣

I never expected it this year (I hope it is) but I always suspected she was taking her time with this and I don’t blame her, if it means its going to be an amazing album it will all be worth it🥰

Shes not in a rush she’s enjoying life jetting across the world and going to events for fun.

It doesn’t feel like she is in work mode for a brand new era yet

i hope that's the case, but she (and record labels in general) have proven time and again that they don't really pay attention to or care about exact anniversary dates. the album will be released when it's ready and they'll choose a date that's best for sales and marketing - they're not going to release it in november unless they decide that will make them the most money. waiting until a less busy time might be a better choice.

i saw a little monster saying madonna would love an "abracadabra moment" and i thought sure that would be great. then i wondered how it compared with kylie's PP moment (which i think is more attainable):

padam padam: 197M spotify, 39M youtube, N/A US, #8 UK, #19 australia

abracadabra: 483M spotify (so far and will likely hit 1B eventually), 167M youtube, #13 US, #3 UK, #12 australia

what would be considered a "hit" for madonna at this point? maybe something in between? 300M spotify, 100M youtube, top 100 US, top 10 UK and australia?

Chart wise anything in the Top 50 in the USA and Top 10 in other markets (since she did that recently with Popular). But in reality if if charts in the Top 100 in the USA and Top 20 in other markets it would be good enough. Anything above 100M on Spotify, 50M Youtube should be considered a win too.

I'm more interested in how the album performs. I want her to get that #1 really bad.

Do you guys have any news about the release of 'CONFESSIONS 2' cuz i've heard the album is finished and she already threw a very vip listening party 2 months ago... so C2 will be released after Veronica Electronica or... ?

#1 album is always nice but she did that with MDNA and MX and then they plummeted, and their reputations aren't any better off for it. i'd rather something that sold more consistently based on great word of mouth and reviews (like COADF).

Both would be nice, though.

I mean, COADF was a number one album, too… Would be great if it could chart high and sell consistently.

MDNA had the Super Bowl and the ticket bundle to really front load the sales, so … there was likely to be a big decline the second week.

Album sales were so low by the time of MX, so … not really a shock, I suppose.

The thing is … you’re right that the number one chart number doesn’t necessarily give the album more prestige in hindsight. Consider ROL which is well regarded (then as now) and yet it wasn’t able to achieve the number one spot… So, yes, I hear what you’re saying. And yet, the only reason I can understand really wanting that number one for this album is that we’re midway through the 2020s decade, and this will be her first album release… It would be nice if she could land a number one album this decade. (We missed the 1990s, no? So … it’s not continuous, sadly. But it would be nice to see her extend her chart presence into another decade, and the number one position would be indisputable dominance.) And at the rate we’re going, who knows if there would be another album before we enter the 2030s? That sounds bleak and almost exaggerated, but … we really don’t know. Especially with the bio project (Netflix series?) — who knows if we would get a full-length Madonna album for that? It might be a soundtrack of sorts, but maybe she won’t be the voice on all the tracks, etc.

I don’t know — trying to tell myself to just be content with new music and enjoy it, regardless of the charts of public perception. But it’s nice when she gets her proper credit, too.

i mean, obviously a #1 album would be nice. and honestly probably the most attainable goal. but i'd trade it for an album that sells more over time or gets critical acclaim!

These fuckers are so  stupid and delusional and sorry but there is no other way to describe them. In 10 years, Gaga would give everything in her world for a Hung up moment. In 10 year she will have the same age as Madonna around the Confession era.🙄🙄🙄

If they mean failing to hit the top ten, Madonna's been doing that since 2013.

A very interesting and thought provoking question!!

What would be a hit for Madonna for the public and what would be a hit for Madonna for us as fans, I think are very different.

At this point, with the right song that could genuinely catch on a bit, I think there is potential of getting another solo top ten hit here in the UK and the lower part of the Billboard chart in U.S.

But I do think the song has to be brilliant and/or she needs to promote the hell out of it.

It won’t come easy will it, the last time she went top ten here in the UK alone, was 16 years ago with Celebration.

Kylie is an interesting reference with PP, yes the song gave her a decent streaming return she hadn’t experienced for several albums with a lead single, and yes it had its big moment in uniting her fans and not dividing them.
But she absolutely worked for that moment, it was anything but organic (nothing wrong with that just saying).
She went out and sold that song all over the place, but the UK is now her main market and she made sure everyone knew she was back with a new album.

Without all that work behind her i don’t believe PP would have achieved what it did.

Abracadabra had a ton of payola help, but Gaga did make some high profile appearances to promote it and I do believe that helped, although the album campaign was relentless from her label.

MX singles were incredibly low as individual songs on streaming. But it wasn’t music for the masses this does sound like it will be a return to the dance floor with the big crowds in mind.

I personally think no matter how good great the lead single is, Madonna needs to personally go out and do a fairly big promotional campaign.

It would be a return of Madonna to music after a long absence. It needs the very best strategy to achieve impact because it won’t get there naturally without a big feature, if she is going solo for the lead single (which I hope she does) she needs to get behind it herself.

I think she could top PPs numbers if the stars align, whether she will get all the way upto nearly 500 million on Spotify without a feature involved im not sure.

For me, as I know it is for you and others in here, the most important thing at this stage is a critically acclaimed triumphant return to pop music with amazing reviews and some strong imagery and (hopefully) performances behind it.

I would as well.

But getting a number 1 album these days isn’t difficult, I think it’s very very achievable for her if the lead up to it is done correctly.

But longevity, some extended effort that goes beyond the lead single and first month of release and a promo campaign are all better than a quick rush of activity to get it to number one and that’s it.

This is Madonna’s labour of love album after all. Nobody asked her for a new album.

She went back to the studio with Stuart because she really wanted to deliver a new album. I think that sets up the scene for an amazing record and a really amazing era.

It was still contractually obliged and by that point, she was through with trying to penetrate the mainstream after RH didn’t hit.

So whilst I agree she went all out to make an album she wanted and threw caution to the wind, I feel these circumstances today, are very different.

Nobody asked her to make an album she wasn’t going to lose any money if she didn’t, plus, she has hooked up with Stuart and has already teased something in the same vain as COADF. So she’s got the mainstream (sound wise) at least, back in her mind.

i agree but it wasn't what most fans wanted. it seems like she's trying to deliver that with the new album. between that and proper label support, the album is already positioned to do better.

BMG has been really really good for Kylie, and all her albums since Golden have had multiple formats, colors, even cassettes.

We can only hope that Madonna's new label (Warner or otherwise) does the same.

BMG is basically like rhino. so yeah it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. and warner has some pull with radio at least, although we know that's an uphill battle unless there's an extremely popular young artist attached like the weeknd.

BMG has massively supported Kylie that’s for sure!

MX was released on many formats though by Interscope, it even had a cassette tape and had multiple versions to boost sales.

Im not saying they did much else right, but I thought there was a good variety of formats for it.

Yes, you're right. But I remember reading that there were all sorts of distribution issues, weren't there? Stores understocked etc.

The "coming soon" album is not in any current position to do better. Little known, she is older, she is unlikely to get radio play (many stations and DJs played Popular sans her part.  She needs to pay for play and charting.  Manchild by Sabrina is a perfect example of a song that was pushed upon release charted at #1 but on NYC radio (Clear Channel) stations play Feathers and Expresso more often and she is the it pop girl of the moment.  Also, LG Abracaca plays on loop and will likely become a Halloween staple...though i pray not.

But again i could care less for charting or multi formats (done paying/buying) to collect, just give me new music for me and fans like me to enjoy and peak at the artistry of this living legend.

it's ''understandable'' to not want to play her music on the radio but to ''cut '' her of a song she was featured i have a hard time to comprehend it

this can't just be said without naming the hosts and radio stations! this is a clear example of ageism and therefore it's discrimination, which is illegal.

before, they could use the excuse the song doesn't "fit" their audience. this is something else

imagine cutting out the part of a black artist because of race.. this is the same thing. Im baffled people aren't incredibly angry over this?! Im serious..
