I thought it was a nice way to discuss both but it depends how much press/promo she does for the 2nd Confessions. I would die with joy if she went out on a huge campaign again. She was literally everywhere in the fall of 2005. I mean she even travelled to Japan to promote it! It was truly a huge moment that album, it was an event. I know things are different now but even so, I am so excited for the new era And I hope Netflix broadcast the tour, That makes perfect sense on the back of the deal to hopefully screen her BIO TV series. We have indeed ! And you are right now evidence I am just keeping expectations (whilst existed) reasonable after a few ups and downs with her releases thus far this year ! It will happen when it happens the main thing is it’s a brilliant album so if she’s taking her time I’m happy to wait until next year for something truly epic.

HC, RH and Madame X are far stronger albums but admittedly way less popular. Imagine the meltdowns had she said we’re getting HC 2. Still the truth remains Mdolla’s sugar is rawer, stickier and sweeter.

Her last great album was COADF to me. That not to say her albums since haven’t delivered great things. But the quality started to dip from HC onwards in my opinion.

But she managed to avoid the legacy act stuff for years. She was a very current artist even upto turning 50 with huge hits and global multi million selling albums that were in the top 20 biggest selling of that year. She was very much in current demand. She took it all the way to an age and a time in her career when she should have been dead and buried commercially. Thats a huge achievement that I still think to this day is unmatched. Yes Beyonce is scoring huge hits and impacting in her early 40s, but let’s see if she or any of the other ladies are still able to do that at 50. I think Madonna has now accepted her status/position as a legacy artist and moved with the times, the only thing is right now she still appears to be reluctant to fully embrace her back catalogue and reissue properly when this is exactly the right time to be doing it. It feels like she is in semi-silent mode all the time. I blame the BIO but then again as others have pointed out, she doesn’t need to do any heavy lifting. It’s a very simple process. But she is half-ass into it. The glorious press release we got 3 years ago about her return to Warners to reissue her landmark albums is still very much a fantasy. I think it’s 3 things 1, She is older and everything has slowed down and she likes living in her own personal timeframe. 2, The BIO is as a massively detailed project she was desperate to get going so she put loads of attention into it. 3, She isn’t overly excited about the concept of reissuing her back catalogue compared to other artists/bands. Shes not that into it.

Oh 100% but that’s the mystery, she must have known what was involved 3 years ago when she decided to do it. We were all amazed. None of expected her to announce such a deal. The whole thing is so un-Madonna. As you pointed out, and as we all know, Madonna has never ever been one for reissues/specials/celebratory works of her back catalogue. The fact is she has tons of amazing albums to do this with. Artists with only 10% of what she has at her fingertips are releasing full scale reissues of their material. I can’t accept she isn’t doing it because it’s easy that’s a bit mad. This is stuff that she could treat as a side line anyways it’s not labour intensive. I don’t think that makes sense as to why we are still not seeing the press release come to life.

She's 66,and since her last album has been through her own health scare and has lost 2 brothers,her stepmother,and must be very aware that soon her Father will be next to go. I know she has had a great work ethic from the beginning of her career,but it's been SIX years since her last LP and with the exception of her tour,the products that she's released have been somewhat lacklustre. We've had a live album and a remix album and that's it. Now with these new remix EPs it's another project that seems half assed. Even her image seems very tired. The same repeated shots of her in her underwear wearing those hideous grills. I think she needs a shot of pure inspiration. Something that will enable her to completely overhaul everything. I LOVE Madonna and have done for over 35 years,but I often feel lately she's just treading water.

And to me it's totally understandable if she doesn't have what it takes to be a trailblazer after a 40 year career that has been extraordinary. But I think, and this is the downside of having had such an amazing career, at her age her fans are doomed to be disappointed. But that doesn't take away any of what she's done. At least among my friends, most of who are not Madonna fans, I can tell a growing interest in her. Especially in the light of today's artists where many lack the level of artistry and creativity of Madonnas´ generation. With that said, I do think she could do a better job at cultivating her amazing legacy. And changing her look a little bit now and then is not that hard. I also think that her home life, with all her children, has taken up a lot of her time and energy, as it would for any human being. And most people with children I think would say that having smaller children is not greatest thing for your ambition and creativity, you're just too drained. Of course I can not know how involved she's been, but something is telling me she's been very involved for at least the past 10 years if not more. And at her level of artistry I think creating masterpieces is a job that demands 100 % of you.
Steve Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 I remember reading that her health scare and recent losses were the “perfect storm” of inspiration for an new album coupled with the good reception form GO to the tour (all written here) and how we come to the other side where we feel tired of the IG same old tired shoots and frustrated. She doesn’t owe us anything else. I would love (and live for) new music from M but give her all the grace and time she needs. More importantly I know that her #soon means eventually and eventually is better than never or a retirement from music announcement.

This is her time now to pick and choose as she wishes. I want a new album and a new era as much as anyone else. But in 2025 at 66, Madonna is now working to her own personal timetable. She has earned that, and I urge everyone to not take what she says on her social media as literal. Whether it’s new music or legacy projects.

She has done it all (if not actually all.. almost all) she is still being talked about, write ups, “backlash”…still relevant and while we as real fans/stans wish the focus was on her music then and now…as she has consistently acknowledged that as a woman her imagery since the launch of MTV through today has always taken precedent/focus and as a senior in pop she isn’t going to get radio play in this day w/o payola+….only when she is gone will the flowers be given and will she truly be hailed as the God of Music that she rightfully is.

I was at a Chic concert recently and Nile was talking about working on the LAV album. A huge picture of the album cover was flashed up but there was barely any applause or cheering. If it were Beyonce or Taylor there would have been a great reaction. It's so sad that someone with her body of work and artistry is so overlooked but I can't help thinking that she's partly brought it on herself.

I am a Madonna fan but have never listened to a Chic album and can’t name a single chic song. that makes sense i guess. but nile only produced one madonna album and it's not one that she's particularly fond of, so i don't know why she would talk about him unless she was specifically asked. that said, she mentioned him in her hall of fame speech and recently posted photos from that rollerstaking event that they both attended (can't remember what it was for). anyway, chic is great. surely you know "le freak," "good times," and "i want your love." they're iconic disco songs!
