Give us the Untold Chapter of Bedtime Stories in the fall and we should be content with that to enjoy until the new album comes. Agreed.
Je5u5 Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 She's not going to compete with Taylor regardless.

But if Taylor releases the new album in October/November it will stay at number one for weeks and weeks and weeks, it will dominate the position until pretty much Christmas. Madonna will miss out on getting a number 1 album. It’s better to totally avoid it. It’s not just Madonna it’s every artist, nobody is going to compete with Swifties streaming a billion times a day. It is best to release Confessions 2 next year to avoid being swallowed up in it. The headlines will be Taylor blocks Madonna all over the place.

Aries Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Back in the day M never would have made fans wait...seems like everyone (all artists genres) were releasing an album a year sometimes 2 in the same year....at least until the mid 80s then it was like every 2 years

Who cares at this point it's like saying The Rolling Stones can't release an album cuz Cockplay is gonna release one... circa 2005. Headlines arent what they used to be either... Besides Madonna won't lose 'sales' because of Taylor.. It'll be a beter quarter either way.. 1 hour ago, Je5u5 said: Chances of Madonna going to #1 in the USA are slim to none anyway. Steve Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 M should contact them (Bey & TS) then pick a date in fall that does not conflict directly with their dates. Ideally she’ll get #1 in sales/streams and/or sales for that week of release and it will get the “she still got” “Queen” headlines even if it drops afterwards (history shows it will). She can interrupt their stay at #1. Tay stay likely, bey not guaranteed.

dollhouse Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Madonna can secure no.1 easily with her strong pure sales only, see MadameX. It sold 90000 pure sales in the first week without a hit single.

Madonna fans still buy physical copies and most of us buy all formats of her releases.
robster Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 I truly really do not understand how that white bread no crust stale middle of the road bag of nothing dominates pop culture. Give us nothing, again!!

Back when Madame X came out streaming was not as big. She grabbed that number one with 95,000 album equivalent units (with 90% of those coming from physical sales). To put things in perspective, last week Bieber had to settle for #2 with 163,000 album equivalent units. When Charli's Brat reissue came out at the peak of Bratmania it only managed to peak at #3 with 105,000 album equivalent units, having big streams and a plethora of physical formats to choose.
AlvaroLiam Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 I've read that TS new album ships on October 13, so it will be out on or before that date. If Warner wants to try M chances at a #1, they better hurry.
Orangema Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 I'm tired of the obsession to be number 1, I understand why, I understand that it makes a good headline. But in the end, the only thing I really want from Madonna is a good album, the rest I don't care about, and if some people prefer the tepidness of a Taylor Swift, good for them, eh, I still say it's not very difficult to sell millions of albums when you're so smooth on just about every possible subject.

dollhouse Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Last spring there were several weeks in april and may with no.1 album having well below 90k sales..even with streaming included Madonna can easily debut no 1 then

Yeah it's getting ridiculous. I said this in the Beyonce thread, but I'll say it here too: Why are we asking Madonna to 'hurry up' or to 'postpone' a release based upon what Beyonce and Taylor do? Like, seriously? Is the world supposed to just stop for these two? 4th quarter is big enough for them all so I just don't get this idea she should be 'worried' about them. She's been going up against new pop stars for over 40 years and has been just fine.
luizotaviobarros Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 At this point, I'd gladly settle for a top-5 album that also does well in Europe/South America and that doesn't drop like a rock the following week. Plus, didn't MX have a tour bundle (which meant more sales)? Or was that RH?

If Madonna released her album around the same time she would get slaughered for getting buried under the rubble. I can see the media and all the fanbases now rubbing their hands together in glee claiming she's a flop and irrelevant. Madonna is welcome to do what she likes, but she needs to avoid them if she wants the album to be a success.
Beastialg Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Madonna can get a #1 in a slow week. Releasing after Taylor Swift would be beyond stupid. If feels like 1Q 2026 would be the smart thing to do right now.

dollhouse Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 When was the last time she released in busy fall season? Confessions?
