I’m not defending this … just reminding us that, back in the day, labels used to service versions of songs with and without a featured rap section, and the station would choose which version fit their format/audience. I grew up not even knowing that a couple popular songs had a rap section (I think TLC’s Waterfalls may have been one) and learned later in life there was another version of the song. (It’s weird, because it is not like I never heard any rap on those stations… I mean, the same stations would play Salt’n’Pepa, for example, which I loved hearing… So, I don’t pretend to understand all the practices back in the day.)

So my point again is NOT to defend the practice, but to say that the industry sort of catered to it back then and it’s possible they are still catering to it … Do we really think the station edited Madonna out? Or did the label service a version of the song without her, giving the stations the option to erase her? (And why would they even do that?!)

What seems extra silly about this is that her verse is so short. Why cut it? It is easy to bleep the F word and keep her verse — you don’t have to remove the whole thing to avoid the curse word (which many radio stations would have to do). 

I think we discussed this back when Popular came out, perhaps… I don’t remember, though, if she was really completely gone from the song — even if you remove her verse, she is singing along with Abel in the chorus, so … she might not really be gone. But she blends so well on the chorus it might be difficult to detect if she is there or not.

if i recall it was a station in LA and fans complained so they switched to playing the full song. i don't know if there were other cases, but i wouldn't be surprised.

I know Madonna has already announced the new album personally.

But I wonder if they’ll be some sort of announcement if she does decide to release the new album with a different record label, other than Warners?

I’m assuming the record label will issue some sort of press release to announce they are going to be releasing the new Madonna album?

What do you think?

Personally, I think it’s happening next year.

She will be going on her extended vacation in 2 weeks as she always takes August off doesn’t she.

Unless she’s going to go into work mode straight after her August break to prepare for a November release, it’s going to be next year…..

But that’s plenty of time to iron out the campaign and who is doing to release it. Warners ?

There might be some business to take care of before we even get to the promotional material to be completed.

I would be amazed if she is still recording. She’s been at it for a year now already hasn’t she? Surly she has it in the bag ?

That makes the most sense if we take it very literally.

I’m not convinced she will title the album Confessions on a dance floor 2 or Confessions 2.

I don’t even think she will reference the original title at all it will be a brand new title.

I think the post about COADF sequel was to set the tone for the new album and create buzz and excitement about the direction she is going in.

I might be wrong totally but that’s kind of where my heads at with it. Therefore releasing it on the 20th anniversary isn’t overly necessary.

I think she's finished the album and she's gearing up for a late 2025 release. I don't think any big names are releasing then, but you never know. Someone could pull a surprise release like Beyonce and Justin Bieber did. I wouldn't put it past TS to announce something either.

Beyoncé’s part 3 to her trilogy is coming.

Taylor will be back.

No idea if those albums could drop this November but it is very possible as both Taylor & Beyoncè dropped from nowhere before.

November is empty at the minute for some big leading stars to release but that could change.

Does anyone think 2 singles leading up to the new album would be better rather than a one big lead single?

If it is meant to be N1, it will be N1.

In the end, ROL wasn't N1 and its one of her defying, if not THE DEFYING, albums in her career.

I d really want her to have a huge impact, something she hasn't had since COADF.

I think this time it would work better over one lead single then the album.

A few singles leading up to the album release.

Create some buzz and show more flavours from the album. Build up some anticipation.

Well if she is indeed dropping an album in Nov (like some think) wouldn’t she need to announce it pretty soon  it’s almost August and that would be approximately 3 months or so
