not very.

they've gotten just as many things wrong. anyone who follows madonna could say "april/may" and be right. we know something is coming soon.

not in the streaming era. although i hope she does.

Yeah over the last 12 months that account has thrown out every possible timeline across 2024-2026 claiming new Madonna. It’s bullshit.

I like that she's taking her time with Stuart for this album. Seems like he's the main producer, which is great! But also that they're working very closely, in his own home studio, and under the same mood of the first Confessions.

I'm excited af! I want to hear the first single asap 🥹

Me too!

Shes got nothing to prove and nothing to lose.

Also, this new album is truly a labour of love. I’m not saying her previous albums aren’t, but she isn’t in contract and there’s zero expectation of delivering an album to a record label.

She has chosen completely off her own back to go back to the studio with Price and cook up the goods!

For me that could very well signal greatness she feels she needs to create and release !

I hope she isn't making this music with its streaming potential being top of mind. If she released more frequently, I could deal with an album tailored specifically for the streaming age, as it might actually be a nice artifact to once again showcase how her career continued through various phases and shifting trends in the history of recorded music and its consumption.

But because we're taking (at least) six years, I don't care: give us long songs and zero features and a continuous listening experience, please.

Perhaps thats why it could take more time, label is not pushing her, it will be like "indie record"

Agree.

Even if she made another LAP, ROL or COADF, we all know it wont be as succesful commercially as back in the day. She wont be played on radio, she wont get huge streaming numbers. She shouldnt try to anymore. Just make music she likes and not try to chase "hits". And that's okay. Just be creative, authentic.

I totally agree.

However, what I would say is that none of us expected her to be back in the charts or have a billion streamer!

The Weeknd took her to that place

If it was a genuine great song I wouldn’t mind a collab for a single with someone like Weeknd, but it would have to add to the essence of the album.

No more rent a rapper but I would welcome another Weeknd team up.

But the most important thing is a great album and to offer something delicious to the music scene this year!

I totally agree with you!!

Like a lot of other people here, I also hope for no featuring, though I do love the featuring on Crave. But after so many years I just want her and her alone 🤭🤭

I'm excited though!!! I really can't wait!!! I miss the days when we'd have rumors that we would spend weeks deciphering and theorizing about 🥹🥹

Where are the insiders from back in the day?

Thai prisons, undercover drug traffickers or working in Walmart.

You need to find them and bring them to me……served hot or cold 😋

Would be nice if Madonna made some kind of exclusive deal with Walmart for her next album....tired of seeing “ALL” of Taylor’s vinyl, cds and books and magazines everywhere

there's surely a middle ground though. she doesn't need to released two-minute songs with featured artists on every track to be stream-friendly.

overall i agree but the main singles were both designed and released to boost streams and appeal to younger audiences. she's always been willing and able to walk the line.

If GenZ boosts one of her new songs on TikTok then there is a chance of having a "hit".

Isn't it weird that we don't have any insiders like we did for previous albums?🤣

💯

Madame X was absolutely Madonna throwing caution to the wind and making an album she wanted without commercial intention.

However, the singles were absolutely picked to penetrate younger audiences.

Maluma was an absolute huge draw in Latina America and had a huge online presence at the time.

Swae Lee again had an enormous following with huge influence commercially.

I remember everyone going crazy when it was announced that she was duetting with Maluma……some fans in here were absolutely convinced it was going to be a huge number 1 smash in Latin America.

It didn’t work out that way in the end and didn’t meet the expectations of his previous singles in that territory.

If Warner is in fact behind this album, I doubt she'll be able to get away with a collab-free project. They'll want to recoup their investment with streaming numbers that are as good as realistically possible given Madonna's place in the music industry in 2025

In the USA, the label only pushed "Crave" at AC and Hot AC, though- hence, no courting the youth/pop audience. In fact, no singles were pushed at the pop format. Heck, "Medellin," the lead single, wasn't pushed at any format. 😁

It depends on what type of deal it is.

I mean we could end up with just a distribution type Interscope release/effort.

I hope NOT of course ! But Madonna needs a label to get the album out but she isn’t in a contract we know of, I highly doubt she is about to sign a new deal at this stage for more albums so….

….what to do with the new batch of music?

I mean it will obviously be Warners at this point as she’s back with them already preparing to reissue her back catalogue…..

But it depends how much Madonna is willing this time round to agree to anything.

I mean she has gone into the studio with Stuart off her own back…..it’s totally been led by her.

Or would she try and sell the new album to other labels to release for her upon completion?

I think that’s messy at this stage it will be Warners but hopefully with some budget for promotion and strategy….

I don’t think Interscope cared enough.

But didn’t she hire a brand new PR firm upon release of MX?

So I think there was some intention to sell it across the line to the masses.

it's a post-radio world. those songs were designed to boost streams. maluma and swae lee were never going to help her on top 40 radio.
