Iconic Fetus Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 The way the girl that spoke that speech later bashed Madonna One or two songs ok, well tbh in Madame X only 6 of 18 (1/3) of the album was political, the other part was more personal and about love: -Batuka: vs Trump -Dark Ballet: vs 1% -God Control: vs Guns -Future: vs global warming -KWAP: vs 1%?? -Eye rice: vs fascism COADF also had lyrics about personal stuff but dealing with fame, religion, etc; but it was well done and elegant, maybe this time she can do 1-2 political songs and then other themes.

Anne Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Yeah, better having a solid 10-12 track album, than a bloated tedious one. Btw, wonder when we are getting and update, if she is really on the cover of the new Interview Magazine issue, it should be coming in the next few days I believe.

Confessit II Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I adore the fact Madonna has returned to Stuart. But was Weeknd not available? He actively called her out for more music and Popular was her biggest impacting song for over a decade. Im just curious as to why they didn’t do more together? Or could they……

peter Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I mean, to be fair, we don’t know whether there are any more collabs with the Weeknd on her forthcoming new project or not. Maybe she did some songs with Abel, maybe she didn’t. (I’m not trying to set us up for unreasonable expectations or for more disappointment or something like that… But we don’t know, for example, that she might not have a song or half an album of material with him… He worked with Max Martin, too, right? So there’s that connection, and she did contribute to Popular, so perhaps that happened because they already had a connection…?) Also, there’s always the time and $$$ factors to consider. The Weeknd wanted to work with her, she shared a positive reaction to that — but we don’t know he was available to her (he’s been working on his own stuff, obviously, because he just released his new album finally, and he’s likely touring soon-ish, I would imagine…?) … and she’s shut down a few potential pairings before over the songwriting situation. (Someone mentioned recently about when she was deciding who she would co-produce ROL with — she told Pat in a letter she was going with Ørbit and wouldn’t work with Nellee Hooper on the record because he was insisting on songwriting credit — which would therefore split royalties even further…) So, anyway. We don’t know they haven’t worked together at all. And we don’t know why she hasn’t, if it hasn’t happened. We’ll have to wait and see…

DreamTheater Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I don't get the Madame X bashing. But anyway Madonna always switches it up a bit. Even if the new album has political songs, I'm sure they will have a brand new sound.
peter Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 11 minutes ago, Confessit said: sounds plausible to me! Remember that, even with COADF, which we tend to consider her “album with Stuart” … there are songs written with at least three other writers/teams: Mirwais, Bloodshy + Avant, and Anders Bagge and Peer Astrom. Stuart helped remix and produce a cohesive flow for the whole album, but he didn’t write everything with M. So there’s still room for other collaborators. We don’t know if Stuart is a co-executive producer with M this time or if she is “only” working on a selection of songs with him to add to other songs she has done with others (think HC or MDNA, where she blended Timbaland/JT with Pharrell, and Solveig with Ørbit and Bennassi, respectively). Stuart’s done “just a couple songs” on a few “recent” albums (Dua Lipa, fka Twigs) so he could have a more limited involvement this time, or he might be working in the same capacity as COADF. Too early to tell, until they share more. It’s great to see them working together again, and it’s surely reassuring to the fan base. But we don’t know everything yet…

Or could they…… there have been lots of instances of people saying they wanted to work with her and it never happened. the weeknd is a superstar and is always busy with something - he's been working on his own album for the last several months, so there probably just wasn't any time. or maybe they did do something and we'll find out soon enough. my money is on not though. 1 hour ago, Paul said: i think it just wasnt the kind of music she was interested in making. elijah Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 I d guess The Weeknd couldn't take off 3-4 months off his schedule to record an album with her. Maybe they did something like they did Popular - sending the song/songs between each other. But in reality probably they couldn't arrange a time for working together I d guess. Stuart is a great choice anyways and if he manages to make an unified sound for all she has written and done sofar, I believe it could be great. Maybe there would be something there with the Weeknd. I duet song could rock.

luluthecat Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 (edited) Oh I’m pretty certain she’s got material with The Weeknd and Max Martin in bag already. There’s no way she’s not got him on the new record. That’s one collaboration that makes total sense artistically and commercially. Edited February 4, 2025 by luluthecat

But 2 years ago when she went into a studio with Max she wasn’t preparing an album. I’m not saying what they did might not come back and be a part of the album now with Stuart, but it would have been for another one off single at the time. But unlike Popular & Vulgar it didn’t make the cut. It appears to me as if Madonna just didn’t like the result. If she loved it then it would have been released years ago. But time will tell…..
