New Music (Album?) Confirmed for 2025 with Stuart Price

I'm a little scared after reading that tweet where Madonna asked if we wanted a part 2 of Confessions on a Dance Floor and seeing that it's been featured in many media outlets. My concerns are twofold: the first is that we as fans know that she's not one of those artists who likes to repeat herself, she's shown it for years (even on this last concert tour where far from being a greatest hits show what she did was an autobiographical tour with a focus on the future, great move tbh) and we know that Madonna is not and has never been a woman to be taken seriously in a literal way, and here comes my second concern: the general public that for years has taken her literally and that could be a little shocked when the result is the opposite of what she has said.

Don't get me wrong, I'm HAPPY to see her in the studio and the truth is I prefer her making music instead of a movie or series about her life, but I'm a little nervous that people have false expectations with a phrase that while it gives publicity can also be a double-edged sword. Still, I trust Madonna, her artistic integrity and what she has to offer, say and sing. After all, that's what makes her the legend that she is today, going against the grain and challenging everyone without following any rules.

I doubt she will do a disco inspired album again and promote it as much.

The confessions era was too close to that for it to be repeated.

Price is a DJ at heart and he produces pop/dance music.

So we know it will be an upbeat affair which I think is what everyone wants.

But I doubt we are getting Hung Up 2025.

I imagine the lead single will be a full on anthemic dance track though for sure !

I don't think we're exactly getting a follow up to Confessions, but a spiritual sucessor (?) maybe in the form of a house inspired record.

However, it's curious how much she's talking about making dance music, while at the same time going through so many intense situations in her life lately (her near death experience, reinvindication with the Celebration Tour, the death of Chris and her mother in law…). One would think that, if there was a moment to confess how she feels while dancing, it's this one.

While I don’t expect it to literally be confessions on a dance floor part 2 (and thank god for that) I sincerely doubt it will be the “opposite of what she said” either…it’s clearly going to be a pop/dance album.

this is why i don't like any kind of "reunion" with a previous producer or mention of a sequel. it's never going to live up to expectations. of course, it's possible that stuart will come up with some magic and it will be different but also amazing. but generally speaking, she does best when she seeks out new, fresh talent and does something totally different.

Yep, pretty much like American life was a spiritual successor to Music in my book. And speaking of American life, she managed to turn Mother and father into a dance gem while signing about serious issues. Even God control for that matter. Either way I can't wait!

I'm very excited and not scared at all. Of course we have a specific association of Madonna and Stuart, but Stuart is a great, versatile producer. Of course the album will be compared to her previous albums (no matter who produces it), so all I hope for is that we're getting great songs with catchy hooks and melodies, inspired lyrics, sensual vocals and top notch production and mixing. 

They are a great creative team and still seem to have a special connection, so I'm very excited about what they're cooking for us.

I hear you but let's put some faith in her. This could actually be read as a very encouraging post. Yes, she wouldn't blatantly make the same kind of album BUT who says you need the same disco inspired sound to leave the same guilty pleasure impression? Stuart is actually very versatile when it comes to dance music. So perhaps what she meant was that she is coming up again with a collection of unapologetic dance bops, in vein of that record. It can be different in terms of genre (as in house, trance), but still a dj set worthy collection of no ballad/no filler. So I'm reading in the same way that Madame X could be called American life part 2. With it's sonically experimental approach with focus on the message of social commentary rather than tunes. So a sister album, but definitely with it's own identity.

I don't think she'd be that stupid to use those words if what she has on hands is a far cry from coadf, and she knows how much that record is revered among her (gay) core fanbase

COADF was one of her biggest moments in music this century. She got it totally right and everyone ate it up.

The styling, the appearances, the award performances and leading to one of her most impressive tours!

Why not mention it and wet everyone’s appetite.

About the new album being Confessions part 2 and fans having high expectations, I get it! every since that album was released people have been asking for a part 2. In my case I always have high expectations when Madonna releases an Album and she never disappoints... So I'm really happy with the news. 

I just wish Patrick Leonard was back! (even if it's just one song)

i think she just used the COAD part 2 line to make us happy and get people talking and it worked. And tbh everyone was thinking about COAD before she said it. If you see Stuart you think of this masterpiece. 
 

We prob. get a dance/pop/house album, which imo is the best news we could get. And since so much time past since her last writing she must have lots to talk about. 
Madonna/Stuart are for sure able to give as a sad and serious song about her losses without going full on dance. For me it would be perfect if she would write with Pat Leonard on those issues but those days seem to be over.
 

Lets talk timeline. What do you guys think. I believe it will happen in spring. Maybe summer but not later.
Cannot wait to see how this release will fold out. And with Warner involved it could be done so much better than the last few releases.

Everything else would make no sense. She just not has a contract to deliver new material. So she is free to do whatever and whenever.

Musically, it could be something unexpected / what we're anticipating. Confessions was great in its own way, but I wouldn't want a retread. I'd still like her to push the envelope, never lose her edge - cause that makes her Madonna, it sets her apart from all the rest!

Apart from it being most likely a dance record produced mainly by Stuart, the COADF part 2 line is just an easy stunt clickbait to generate hype and attention among the average braindead user that pollutes the pop subs of Twitter/ATRL/Reddit and other forums.

Having said that, wouldn't surprise me Warner would want and suggest dropping a COADF reissue later next year to capitalize on the 20th anniversary and new album.

I'm probably reading too much into it but I just spotted one thing that's probably just a coincidence - if we exclude MX tour history is repeating:

American life/reinventing tour/coadf

Madame x/celebration tour/m15

 

In both timeliness she first recorded a very expiremntal/alternative album (both with Mirwais) focusing on politics, and both were her biggest commercial flops to date but resonated well with majority of fanbase. Then went to what she's never done before - a greatest hits tour (reinvents was back then marketed as such). And then she went to all-dance record with Price, whom she's worked with on a previous tour. I'll take it a good omen

 

Also if we want to add even more - back then she worked on her first film/musical Hello suckers which got shelved and informed her next album instead. And here she was dealing with the biopic under what could be similar circumstances.
