I feel so sorry for the Americans who did not vote for Trump and were warning everyone about what he had in store. Seeing what he is already saying he will do and the horrifying people he is choosing to run and deliberately destroy government departments is a massive dose of what America has in store. 
 

I have no sympathy for the voters who gladly voted for him though despite the obvious and chilling warning signs that they were repeatedly told about. They get what they voted for.

@Jazzy Jan ive always wanted to ask, how do people view Sky news Australia there? Youtube keeps pushing their videos with that awful woman. It's so blatant in their love for trump and hate for all things to the left or democratic. Their videos are titled "lefties losing it". It's like watching satire. Please tell me no one takes that shit seriously where you are?

Nikki, Sky news Australia is an absolute laughing stock here.  Its ratings are appalling and everyone makes fun of it and mocks the idiots on it . Rita Panahi who hosts that Lefties losing it, is ridiculed by all other media here.  Same with all of the other vile presenters on it who are all Rupert Murdoch devotees. It is like Fox News but luckily Australians are not influenced by it. It is on Rupert Murdoch’s Foxtel pay tv and its ratings are abysmal.

Do you really think it is irrelevant in OZ? Sky News is now free to air in quite a bit of regional Australia. Radicalising rural voters is how Republicans keep winning elections in the US. Sky News and Murdoch are trying the same thig in OZ

I did not know Sky news was free to air in areas of regional Australia I just know that it is laughing stock by everyone I know - progressive, conservative and apathetic political persuasions- and also by the other media shows who mock it all the time. Its ratings on Foxtel are dreadful. 
 

@swimtoshore   What you said about it being free to air in rural areas though is how Murdoch spreads his poison. I can’t see Australia going down the ultra right wing ideology because we don’t have many fundamental religious groups although they are trying to infiltrate political parties and seek out the coalition. I know America has a lot of deeply religious voters who are targeted shamelessly by Fox etc.  
 

Someone said recently that the two most dangerous immigrants to enter America in the last 30 years are Rupert Murdoch and Elon Musk. I agree completely as their agendas to look after the millionaires and their business interests are their main objectives. The people that are hoodwinked into believing that they are for the working classes are collateral damage to them. It is a terrifying predicament that the world is facing.

What are the reactions from everyday Americans to these choices of Trump to run extremely important departments ?  Is any panic setting in or are people apathetic ?  I am wondering if people are now seeing how dangerous it is to give Trump and Vance so much power. He is only choosing loyalists to him who are stupid corrupt people or rampant conspiracy theorists. Do everyday people feel fear that these morons and felons will be making decisions on security, health, education, immigration and the justice department. Trump really didn’t have to do anything. He was going to win by default because that party is a damn mess with an identity crisis. 

He stood for immigration control, better jobs, and anti-pc culture. Whether anyone agrees or not we all knew what his platform and message was. 

Hate me all you want but I’m not mad at him at all this time around. I don’t even know what I feel. Exhausted? Over it? Maybe in my next life things will be a little better and humanity will be on the right track to a brighter future?

How many times have I heard "we do not discuss politics or religion in our family (or with friends, colleagues)". Especially with Thanksgiving coming up. It is too much of a personal thing. And people wonder why the U.S. is a shit show when it comes to politics. THIS is one of the main reasons. Here in Germany, in Europe, no one shies away from having a discussion about politics. Religion? No one cares. Because religion and church is not really part of everyday life. It is in fact a private matter and people respect that. It certainly helps that you will have a very hard time to find religious crusaders like in the U.S., not even the pope is as reactionary as those evangelicals. This behavior wouldn't fly in Europe. Just like the pledge of allegiance and bibles in school. But yeah, "we are the greatest" and "we have freedoms".

I seriously doubt both. I'd be shocked if Democrats nominated another woman in my lifetime. Democrats reportedly have a deep bench to select from, but honestly, I think over half the country is too stupid to vote for their own interests, and after Trump 2.0, we'll officially be an oligarchy with just an illusion of democracy.

I DO think Whitmer could've done it. Biden caved in 2020 by the DEI mob to pick Kamala. Word is he really liked Whitmer and thought she was the 'best Governor in the country'. Waay better candidate than Kamala ever was. Charismatic, competent, charming, great communicator, serious, Gov. of a key state etc...Kamala was and will always be simply a terrible, disconnected, clunky, robotic candidate. 2024 was just too baked in & in the cards to favor Trump. Incumbents w.w. getting cooked.

So tbh considering how awful she was as a candidate & only had 100 days actually did NOT do that badly lol. But NO doubt if Biden ran again would've been landslide-like. Talking losing places like New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico, Minnesota etc...Kamala at least did about the same as Hillary.
