SOON Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/10/trump-buy-gaza-plan Trump says Palestinians will have no right of return to Gaza under his plan People will have ‘no alternative’ but to leave territory after destruction left by Israel, US president said in Fox interview Andrew Roth Mon 10 Feb 2025 11.26 EST Donald Trump has said that his plan to “take over Gaza” would not include a right of return for the more than 2 million Palestinians that he has said have “no alternative” but to leave because of the destruction left by Israel’s military campaign. The remarks are the latest effective endorsement of ethnic cleansing by the US president, who announced his plan last week during a summit with the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to the outrage of the Arab world and the surprise of even his closest aides. In the interview with Fox’s Bret Baier, Trump said that he would “own” the Gaza Strip and declared it would be a “real estate development for the future”. At the same time, he continued to endorse a plan for the Palestinians to be resettled in Egypt and Jordan, a plan that both countries have rejected and the region’s largest Arab states have declared is a non-starter. Trump said he would build up to six new sites for Palestinians to live outside Gaza, in effect permanent refugee camps underwritten by the US president. Asked if Palestinians would have the right to return to Gaza, Trump told Baier: “No, they wouldn’t, because they’re going to have much better housing. “Could be five, six, could be two,” he said. “But we’ll build safe communities, a little bit away from where they are, where all of this danger is. “In other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them because if they have to return now, it’ll be years before you could ever – it’s not habitable,” he said. No serious discussions have so far taken place in the Pentagon or the state department regarding how the US could legally or logistically handle the task proposed by Trump. But the announcement was welcomed by Israel’s far-right settler movement, as well as their evangelical allies in the US who have endorsed the annexation of the Gaza Strip and other occupied Palestinian territories, including the West Bank. “In the meantime, I would own this,” Trump said of Gaza. “Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent.” On Sunday, the UN’s top investigator on human rights, Navi Pillay, told Politico, a news website, that Trump’s plan for the “forcible displacement of an occupied group is an international crime, and amounts to ethnic cleansing”. “There is no way under the law that Trump could carry out the threat to dislocate Palestinians from their land,” Pillay said. More than 1.5 million Palestinians and their descendants who lost their homes during the 1948 Arab–Israeli war currently live in refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. How dare he tell people in another country that they can't live in their own country anymore. He is sickening and getting worse and worse every day. Quote
Raider of the lost Ark Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Is there any opposition to this plan in Israel or within the jewish community? Considering the history of jewish people, I would like to believe they are very sensitive to this situation. I mean, jewish people were victim of "ethnic cleansing" at a scale unimaginable. In the beginning people were kicked out of their homes, then had to live in ghettos and it all culminated with the "Endlösung". Or is this just another time in human mankind, where people don't care because it does not affect them directly despite all the lessons learned from history? Also, I can clearly see a huge shift in public opinion in regards to Israels politics. Support for Israel and its actions in Gaza etc. must be on an all-time low. And when people in Germany, especially politicians, that are part of the democratic spectum, and media openly criticize the Israeli goverment, which was an absolute no-go up until a year ago, Israel should realize they have a big problem when it comes to support in the future. If your only ally is a conservative government in the U.S.A., you may reconsider your actions. Maybe it's time for countries like Germany, France etc. to acknowledge a state of Palestine, to stop all the madness in the area. Quote

I hate to equate mass killings with PR but the Israel government has lost crucial support from younger generations across the globe, as well as completely creating a whole generation amongst their neighbours who want retribution. Theyve completely fucked themselves over. Quote

There’s definitely opposition within the Jewish community. they are definitely in the minority, but at least in my experience, the people I’ve heard from and the handful I’ve had the pleasure of meeting throughout my life have been some of the people who I have probably learned the most from on this topic. An example is this group I follow on instagram, I think they’re amazing (taking a break from social media so here’s their website): https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org Another example is this ~20 year old video from a Jewish-American who spent time in Palestine. I believe I shared this in the beginning of this thread and I think is more relevant than ever: She went because she wanted to see it for her self and she was horrified (20 years ago). It makes me so angry when people tell me I’m antisemitic because I support a free and sovereign Palestine Quote
sotos8 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Absolutely mind blowing. The sitting US President, Trump, is literally and actually openly telling the world that he plans to use the full might of America to remove a people from their home of thousands of years, take it, own it and not allow the people to come back. What the… pic.twitter.com/ySBLOVkZEd— Noctis Draven (@DravenNoctis) February 11, 2025 Quote

SOON Posted Saturday at 05:18 AM Author Posted Saturday at 05:18 AM The Trump administration is working on a plan to permanently relocate up to 1 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya, five people with knowledge of the effort told NBC News. In exchange for the resettling of Palestinians, the admin. would potentially release to Libya billions of dollars that the U.S. froze more than a decade ago, some of the sources say. The plan is has been discussed with Libya’s leadership and no final agreement has been reached. One idea administration officials have discussed is to provide Palestinians with financial incentives such as free housing and even a stipend, the former U.S. official said. The details of when or how any plan to relocate Palestinians to Libya could be implemented are murky, and an effort to resettle up to 1 million people there would likely face significant obstacles.
