Gabriel Ciccone Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Erotica (21/06/2020) Erotica - 4,441,826 Fever - 2,382,193 Bye Bye Baby - 1,352,565 Deeper and Deeper - 4,472,870 Where Life Begins - 1,120,980 Bad Girl - 2,292,478 Waiting - 1,104,750 Thief of Hearts - 1,119,541 Words - 822,220 Rain - 8,464,840 Why's It So Hard - 858,297 In This Life - 656,851 Did You Do It? - 370,198 Secret Garden - 767,365TOTAL = 30,226,974 It's a shame Erotica album have the smallest numbers from all her discography on her Spotify. I think we need another # on twitter, just like happened for Bedtime Stories ( #StreamErotica and #JusticeforErotica for example )
Elysium Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Sounds good to me. I would support it as I did the #justiceforbedtimestories campaign which was pretty successful.
Guest Future feat Quavo Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Because her elderly fans will just "stream" the vinyl instead (no shade to her older fans)
AlvaroLiam Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 1 minute ago, Future feat Quavo said: Because her elderly fans will just "stream" the vinyl instead (no shade to her older fans) True. I tried to explain to some of them how Spotify works and why its streaming numbers are important for artists nowadays, but ended up getting a "you'll never appreciate music as much as I do/You don't know anything about music" kind of response. But if there's a campaign, sign me in!
Gabriel Ciccone Posted June 21, 2020 Author Posted June 21, 2020 We need to increase these numbers too. Madonna has 6 songs with +100 million on Spotify. After Vogue reach 100 million streams, will take more time to see another song with these numbers again. Vogue - 97,396,764 Bitch I'm Madonna - 62,573,337 Medellín - 50,097,261 Into the Groove (Celebration album) - 45,581,737 Like a Prayer (Like a Prayer album) - 42,760,463 Holiday (Celebration album) - 42,328,376 Crazy for You - 42,397,407 Holiday (Madonna album) - 38,477,851 Music - 35,871,488 Faz Gostoso - 30,367,612
AlanLongoria Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Erotica has no major hit and her 90s success is overshadowed by her newer hits (00s) and her peak decade(80s). It is important to note that Madonna doesn't have a defining hit so her streams are spread out to different songs, look at Eurythmics for instance... or Cyndi Lauper. Madonna has probably the longest gap between 100 million songs for a female, 24 years betwen Material Girl or 4 Minutes, she is doing fine.
ITG Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Who cares! Yes I'm old....and I ain't fake streaming to get numbers up like little munsters. It's embarrassing and desperate. Madonna's music and relevance to me has nothing to do with numbers, accolades or awards. Just sayin.

The only thing I ask is increase the numbers, just change the physical media where you listening for Spotify

I tried to educate and encourage them on Twitter/Facebook during the Madame X launch but they were so apprehensive about streaming anything. They didn’t even want to stream it once or take advantage of the free 30 day subscription promos that streaming services had for the album launch. They just want to play the album on their Sony CD discmans.
Je5u5 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Thing is there's little incentive for fans to stream when her Spotify catalogue is a mess, with wrong versions and missing releases. If her team cared more about those platforms maybe her fans would care more about using them.

I get what you mean. I stream a lot. But with her I use the files downloaded to my phone and not the mess that is uploaded officially.

I feel like you're identifying the problem and coming to the wrong conclusion. Fans aren't listening to Spotify because Spotify is clearly not a priority for Madonna or her team. If it were, then little problems like this wouldn't exist. People want to listen to the versions of songs they know and love. For many hardcore and longtime fans, that's the single version/radio edit, a remix or a live rendition. Spotify offers almost none of these. It's an app that really only offers fans an album-listening experience and, as you point out, her team has made dumbass mistakes in getting the albums online, so it's not even good for that.
rocknrolla Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 I listen to almost everything on spotify. It would help if she would put everything on there, like DEMOS and remixes. Her numbers are much better than Paula Abdul or Janet Jackson. But Cyndi lauper has massive streaming numbers thanks to girls just wanna have fun and true colors. It is a little surprising to see an act like roxette even have songs with over 300 million streams

But we need more support

Nick Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 I'm the type that does stream Spotify but I also enjoy listening to vinyl and cds too. As a long time music collector, I enjoy listening to the physical copies on my stereo. It's kinda like a tradition since I started buying music at thirteen years old.
itzjak Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 But spotify, deezer and youtube doesn't have maxi singles before Confessions... and I have a lot of them. I like to stream her songs and videos on youtube, spotify is very bored.

I think that, even when her management of streaming platforms is not the best, there has been an upgrade since the MX era; giving her more pressence on playlists and some cool stuff like the short vertical videos that lowkey promote her videography. If M, at 60+ y.o., is moving along with the times, why can't her fans do the same? She understood that music has changed and is adapting well. Giving our backs on her it's kinda sad, tbh. 1 hour ago, Future feat Quavo said: God they're so f****** embarrassing. Imagine thinking $10 for millions of songs is a waste of money. It gives you instant access to your favorite artists entire catalogue, in the palm of your hands. No ones gonna take away from her fans the magic of physical releases. Streaming is just the perfect balance between radio airplay and record sales.

Anne Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 There are many things wrong with the management of the new releases and her streaming platforms approach, but no wonder nowadays she can't even get a single charting on the Billboard Hot 100 or the albums free fall on second week when the majority of her fans still listening to CD rips on a discman.
jonski43 Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Spotify is crap. I just wanted to stream Madame X album but I have to put it in shuffle, it throws in mixes and then plays a load of songs but other artists I don't want to listen to and doesn't let me skip more than six tracks. I'm not paying for that shit. But I don't mind joining in a streaming day.

However, you can get a 30 day free trial on that an other platforms or use the desktop app, since it's more friendly with free users. stevenflowers Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 I really don't get how people don't want to use spotify or other streaming platforms to listen to (every kind of) music... i wished there was something like that when i was younger! And i can't believe how one of the most forward thinking popstars ever has got one of the most stuck in the past fanbase ever lol
jonski43 Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 It's not about being stuck in the past. The choice of songs on there is crap too. Many of the songs I've looked for aren't there etc as they're not big artists, old, international etc. I've got 22,000 songs on my iTunes which I can burn to CDs for the car, play on my phone etc. But it's the same with many older artists. Their fans have the hard copies or mp3s etc. It's convenient.
