eXtreme Occident Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 We all seem to forget Magic before Madame X. What in the world was that all about? Even the teaser playlist on Spotify last year was titled '#magic'. Remember that Insta post from her that had all the glitter and stars over her mouth, too? Maybe someone here can find it. she had a bunch of blue paint all over the lower half of her face and lips.

beautyiswhereIfoundit Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 never heard of Mirror & Revolution as title for MDNA... any source? I would love to find more about it. never knew about Regression as a title for the shoot with Klein!

Btw the black Madonna could only be understood by the Catholic European people and it would have been offensive for many people. I'm glad she changed it. Black Madonna as a title without a blackface cover would be fine. Though she would get a lot of domestic push back.

But yes, black painted face is a big no no in USA and with reason.

Naturally assumed black Madonna was a rendering of her at her darkest form short of being African.
MDNA45 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Am sure she said she wanted to call Hard Candy 'Candy Shop' but got told it was a bad idea as Fifty Cent already had big song out with the same name and beat her to it. Would make sense as she also wanted it to be the lead single but Warners said No and she keeps putting it in her tours so must kind of like it the best from that album

I can't for the life of me find that Insta post that I'm talking about with the image -- Does anyone else here have it? It was around the time all the other music videos were being shot.

(Weirdly, "GHV2" sounds like a sequel to "Ultra Madonna." Both are totally forgettable.) I've always wanted to see what she'd have done with "Hollywood" too. Imagine an album photo spread similar to what we got from the "Hollywood" video I dont like second coming as she never went away
stevo208 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 There was a UK fanzine in 1997 called Absolute Ciccone that said the new M album had a working title of Heartbreaking. The also mentioned 2 new song titles Substitute for Love and Candy Perfume Girl which did turn out to be true
Guest animalinstinct Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I think there was a rumour that Celebration was going to be called ICONOGRAPHY, which sounds so much better in my opinion

The source (per my notes) was a DrownedMadonna forum member which is a weak source at best, however I try to capture as much as I can. I think this person actually posts here too. Now that I look at the notes, I think they may be two different titles (Mirror OR Revolution) G_O_N_E's latest post in the DrownedMadonna forum: I've been hearing the title Mirror and Revolution have been discussed, as well as just "Madonna" or "M". Live Nation have their marketing department in full swing, this and the tour is the biggest focus of 2012. Madonna and Live Nation are looking start a new era, both for Madonna and musically, so having the album just be a "name" would kick start that. All I know is, Mirror was the name of the 9 track disc that was played for record executives. Not sure if it's a track title, or just a possible album name. ...most releases have multiple titles before a definitive one is decided. Although this is just a rumor, it would certainly set-up her post-MDNA "I want to start a Revolution of Love/Secret Project" but who knows? The Regression name for the Klein photoshoot was reported by MTRIBE and DrownedMadonna in July 2005.

AlvaroLiam Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I'm glad that Black Madonna didn't get to materialize. And I thought the blackface photoshoot didn't happened, until one day, during a typical Internet fight about it, someone sent me a link of an interview where Madonna talked about it. She said that it was real, but was convinced not to use it as the album cover because people won't understand her reference/sense of humour, "as usual". Tbh, Black Madonna as an album title with R&B elements is a big no from me too.
Lolo Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 35 minutes ago, AlvaroLiam said: Tbh, Black Madonna as an album title with R&B elements is a big no from me too. And that’s the real reason why it wouldn’t have worked, because of the music itself. She could have called ROL Black Madonna with the imagery of the Frozen video for example. That’s how it could have worked. But with music by black producers and blacks artist’s features? No way.
Andyrs Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Was MDNA supposed to be called Sweat? Sometime back in 2011?
