^ I dunno. Like I said, I don't think this is a huge deal and I don't believe that Hillary really thinks the Reagans were genuinely concerned about the AIDS crisis. I think she was just trying to say something nice about Nancy (in memorium) and it came across as trying to white wash history. It was a blunder for sure. Dan Savage is already ready to rally liberals away from her, which is problematic if she does win the nomination. She needs those votes.

Dan Savage said on Twitter a few hours ago that he would vote for Hillary if she wins nomination and that everyone else should too. He also mentioned that he wasn't too pleased with Bernie's statement either, not to the same extent, but still wasn't impressed.

But don't you see it? If you don't vote at all, Donald Trump will be President of the United States.

That's the reality. Do you want that????

Ask yourself if you feel safe in a country with Donald FUCKING Trump in charge.

I, for one, completely agree with your thoughts about the Dem race Skin and you're right about Democrats needing to vote for the Democratic nominee in November, even if they don't particularly like Hillary.

I love you for this. Well said. Nothing but the truth.

He appeals to the absolute worst kind of Americans. I am honestly afraid of what will happen if he actually wins this.

Thank you. I admit. I get very passionate and blunt with my words at times when it comes to politics. And yes I make jabs at white people. I don't know if people cant tell but I am white! Me making jabs at fellow white folks that are supporting the bigotry of Trump literally is a threat to NO ONE. Like I said we live in the USA. Get back to me when there has ever been and ever will be a systematic threat of racism and bigotry against white people in this country. It has never happened and probably never will happen. And yes as a white person I am privy to know how many of them really feel because they think just because I am white they can talk to me like they do with other white people and I can tell you behind closed doors and in secret many of them ARE racist. I am disgusted by how many white people have dropped the N word around me or talked about this President like he is a piece of shit. So yes sometimes my reactions are over the top, but they are simply a product of the environment I have grown up in and what I have become very tuned into since my teens when I started to be more aware of the world around me and the hypocrisy of others. If anyone is self righteous its these xenophobic racist white people who refuse to accept anyone different then them into this country. And OF COURSE its not ALL white people. Obama would have never been elected twice without a large portion of the white vote and of course there are many liberal white people who feel the same as I do.

The fact of the matter is the republicans could very well have who to me is the most dangerous man I have seen run for President in my lifetime be the candidate for their party. How this doesn't scare everyone that is tuned into reality and sees what is going on is beyond me. Like I said this man has run a campaign based on nothing but fear and hate and has fanned the flames of violence at his rallies. The hate from the crowd at these rallies is so palpable you can feel it through the screen of whatever device you are watching it on. SOMETHING at SOME POINT was going to break and what we saw last night was exactly that. And yes I am proud of the THOUSANDS of people that stopped his hate rally. The only way for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

So...question is WHO, for the umpteenth time is any better or worse than Trump when it really comes down to it?!? The other 3 remaining skunks are every bit as dreadful and/or KKK/right wing friendly as him! As I've said way too many x the Dems 'should' win this thing in an effortless landslide but that tool mutt face Wasserman Shultz is so up Hillary's saggy, tired ass that she and her fellow tools refuse to let her go. Theres basically 0 enthusiasm for her except 65+ year old women from New York/Jersey, Boca Raton Florida and some minorities. I'm almost 100% if ANYone else (even Biden) this bloody mess would be over already. Hillary is a god awful, flawed candidate. Her praise for Nancy Reagan the other day just reaffirms what a lying, unlikable hack she is. Last thing she is is clueless. ALL she does is pander and says whatever she needs to in the moment. She basically has as many flaws and negatives as Trump. I know I know forget about the person and vote for thier 'policies'. zzz

^^^^ You don't like her. We get it. But to call her "clueless" is ridiculous. Hillary Clinton is BY FAR the MOST PREPARED candidate for this office EVER. And don't even argue that. IT IS FACT. And if she was so disliked by everyone except 65+ woman of certain states and some minorities I wonder why she is still winning. Sorry, you sound like that Trump supporter at the cancelled Chicago rally who was calling the protesters "uneducated" just to out himself as an idiot seconds later calling Trump the candidate of the Republican party for POTUS. Newsflash: he is not. Not yet. Even more disturbing, the guy appeared to be a student at Chicago University which obviously says a lot about the quality of the educational system if one can be this mis-informed. Well, he might have sports scholarship.

Seriously. The woman made one mistake trying to honor a dead woman get over it. If anyone would be more understanding u would think Madonna fans would admire an intelligent though polarizing woman like Hillary.

I just don't know why she felt the need to say it? Is she trying to win over the republicans that swear they would never vote for Trump by praising the Reagans? I mean why bother? Let them not vote for Trump and simply waste their vote on someone else or a write in candidate. At the end of the day it would be a vote for her.

Still voting for her no matter what if she is the nominee, but a dumb blunder indeed.

And yes I do keep scratching my head trying to figure out WHAT CHANGED so much between 2008 and now, when this forum was 99.9% Hillary Land, and now so many have soured on her. I don't know. Why bother trying to figure it out.

Did anyone catch Trump's latest rally? It took him about 40 minuets to get anything out because of all the protestors going off like crazy. And then when most were escorted out and he could speak he literally had NOTHING to say!!!! I have never seen a man say so much but at the same time say so little. Especially a man running for President! It boggles my mind that his supporters don't have a "come to Jesus moment" and open their eyes and think, "Why am I standing here listening to this raving lunatic?" and walk out. He rambles like a mad man.

PUD will like this. He even read some story to the crowd that gave me Madonna Bedtime Story Pajama Party teas, when she read the crowd Miss Spider. :lmao: It was insane to watch. And the best line was when Trump said he is a "Good Christian" and he got some of the loudest applause!!!! The man couldn't be more un Christ like. He is filth.

And if their is a Christ, may he come to life, and save us from Trump's lies.

I find it funny how my gay friends all support Hillary but Madonnanation has turned to Bernie no big deal people like who they like. When she was secretary of state people were around here were praising her which in my mind she was a great and one of the best ever secretary of state.

It will be very interesting this coming tuesday with Ohio letting 17 year olds vote and Bernie gaining momentum. I haven't seen any polls these past couple of days aside from Florida which is showing Hillary winning but we will see you never know. I went to see her husband a few years ago speak and when he spoke he was so charismatic i totally bought everything he said. I'm with her.

Hillary Clinton Issues Second And Lengthy Reagans & AIDS Apology: I Made A Mistake, Plain And Simple

March 12, 2016 2016 Election, LGBT News

HIV/AIDS activists were far from satisfied by the one-line apology issued yesterday afternoon by Hillary Clinton after she made the astoundingly ahistorical claim that Nancy Reagans low-key advocacy had spurred advances against the virus. Tonight Clinton issued a second and quite lengthy statement. Below is the her message in full:

Yesterday, at Nancy Reagans funeral, I said something inaccurate when speaking about the Reagans record on HIV and AIDS. Since then, Ive heard from countless people who were devastated by the loss of friends and loved ones, and hurt and disappointed by what I said. As someone who has also lost friends and loved ones to AIDS, I understand why. I made a mistake, plain and simple.

I want to use this opportunity to talk not only about where weve come from, but where we must go in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

To be clear, the Reagans did not start a national conversation about HIV and AIDS. That distinction belongs to generations of brave lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, along with straight allies, who started not just a conversation but a movement that continues to this day.

The AIDS crisis in America began as a quiet, deadly epidemic. Because of discrimination and disregard, it remained that way for far too long. When many in positions of power turned a blind eye, it was groups like ACT UP, Gay Mens Health Crisis and others that came forward to shatter the silence  because as they reminded us again and again, Silence = Death.

They organized and marched, held die-ins on the steps of city halls and vigils in the streets. They fought alongside a few courageous voices in Washington, like U.S. Representative Henry Waxman, who spoke out from the floor of Congress. Then there were all the people whose names we dont often hear today  the unsung heroes who fought on the front lines of the crisis, from hospital wards and bedsides, some with their last breath.

Slowly, too slowly, ignorance was crowded out by information. People who had once closed their eyes opened their hearts. If not for those advocates, activists, and ordinary, heroic people, we would not be where we are in preventing and treating HIV and AIDS. Their courage  and their refusal to accept silence as the status quo  saved lives.

Weve come a long way. But we still have work to do to eradicate this disease for good and to erase the stigma that is an echo of a shameful and painful period in our countrys history. This issue matters to me deeply. And Ive always tried to do my part in the fight against this disease, and the stigma and pain that accompanies it. At the 1992 Democratic National Convention, when my husband accepted the nomination for president, we marked a break with the past by having two HIV-positive speakers  the first time that ever happened at a national convention.

As First Lady, I brought together world leaders to strategize and coordinate efforts to take on HIV and AIDS around the world. In the Senate, I put forward legislation to expand global AIDS research and assistance and to increase prevention and education, and I proudly voted for the creation of PEPFAR and to defend and protect the Ryan White Act. And as secretary of state, I launched a campaign to usher in an AIDS-free generation through prevention and treatment, targeting the populations at greatest risk of contracting HIV.

The AIDS crisis looks very different today. There are more options for treatment and prevention than ever before. More people with HIV are leading full and happy lives. But HIV and AIDS are still with us. They continue to disproportionately impact communities of color, transgender people, young people and gay and bisexual men. There are still 1.2 million people living with HIV in the United States today, with about 50,000 people newly diagnosed each year. In Sub-Saharan Africa, almost 60 percent of people with HIV are women and girls. Even though the tools exist to end this epidemic once and for all, there are still far too many people dying today.

That is absolutely inexcusable.

I believe theres even more we can  and must  do together. For starters, lets continue to increase HIV and AIDS research and invest in the promising innovations that research is producing. Medications like PrEP are proving effective in preventing HIV infection; we should expand access to that drug for everyone, including at-risk populations. We should call on Republican governors to put peoples health and well-being ahead of politics and extend Medicaid, which would provide health care to those with HIV and AIDS.

We should call on states to reform outdated and stigmatizing HIV criminalization laws. We should increase global funding for HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment. And we should cap out-of-pocket expenses and drug costsand hold companies like Turing and Valeant accountable when they attempt to gouge patients by jacking up the price of lifesaving medications.

Were still surrounded by memories of loved ones lost and lives cut short. But were also surrounded by survivors who are fighting harder than ever.

We owe it to them and to future generations to continue that fight together. For the first time, an AIDS-free generation is in sight. As president, I promise you that I will not let up until we reach that goal. We will not leave anyone behind.

What in the world does this mean? Am I supposed to support her because I'm gay? My gay friends who support her know next to nothing about her politics and voting record. They just support her because they see her as some kind of celebrity.

And yes, as secretary of state she got a lot done, but a lot of that was orchestrating coups across the middle east. She's more aggressive and imperialistic than George Dubbya.

Hillary turning the situation of her wrong and incorrect statement about the Regans into an opportunity to put focus back on those who suffer from HIV/AIDS is probably the best outcome out of this whole situation. She was wrong, apologised twice and at the end of the day, she became more educated and learned from it. The Clinton's did and still continue to do a lot of work regarding finding treatments for HIV/AIDS.

Much better. I hope the likes of Dan Savage don't say "Not good enough." Like he did with her first apology.

Also of note: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) expanded access to HIV medicines from 200k people in 2002 to over 8 million today.

I agree. I think this is a good example of Hillary's willingness to accept her wrongdoings and learn from her mistakes - I don't think she's a "flip flopper" like Republicans and Bernie supporters claim. I think she intakes all kinds of information and learns from results and experience what works and doesn't work. She's very willing to evolve and listen to the people and change her opinions for the better. I think that's a great quality in a leader.

Do you guys think Hillary will sweep all 5 states Tuesday?

If I just looked at polling, I'd say yes. But with Bernie's Michigan win last week, I am not sure how much faith I have in polls at this point. I think Florida and North Carolina are firmly in Hillary's column. Illinois might be close, but she's still favored. It would help her there if Obama would just endorse her already. Ohio and Missouri have electorates that look more favorable to Sanders, but again, she is still favored slightly in them if you look at the polls.

Maybe Michigan was just a lark? I kind of hope it was. A clean sweep by her could help end this race sooner. We really need to wrap this shit up and get the stage set to defeat Donald. The longer this Dem nom goes on, the less time the party has to put together a national strategy. I am not taking anything for granted...Trump (or Cruz) must NOT win.

I could be wrong but I am sure Hillary and her team are already putting things together.

I also hope Bernie makes a decision to come out and campaign hard for Hillary. I am seeing toooo many Bernie supporters saying they will not vote at all if he isn't the nominee. Part of me thinks many of them are so young and this is their first time being interested in politics they have no clue of what is really at stake here.

It's unbelievable how much money is involved into one's candidacy, it is absolutely anti democratic since the common woman or man cannot run without so much money to spend AND it asks the question of lobbying when huge companies give to a candidate.

In France it was decided to limit the spendings on political campaigns when they became outrageous.....Sarkozy received millions from Gadaffi (whom he later killed).
