2016 Presidential Election Thread Part 2

Show me one example of Bernie Sanders' supporters being disgusting misogynists. I follow NPR mostly and all I read are mostly well-informed people having adult conversations about politics.

There's SO many. Obviously you won't find it in intellectual places like NPR but if you look at any of Hillary's posts on her Facebook or any videos of her on YouTube, stuff thats totally irrelevant to this election too, you'll find comment after comment that's just deplorable. Nobody here seems to understand that we still live in a world of the most heinous internalized and institutionalized sexism, along with racism and homophobia, etc obviously. Bernie supporters aren't exempt from this either - that doesn't mean that ALL Bernie supporters are like this or even the majority. But they exist in large numbers and I'm disappointed by it.

Well, I think it's unfair to say that Bernie Sanders doesn't deserve to be president because a number of his followers said something misogynistic when he has no power over that.

Nobody in this forum blamed Clinton for the ridiculous and in my opinion misogynistic thing that Madeline Albright said about there being a special place in hell for women who don't for Clinton. Clinton has never pandered to any group of weak-minded or hateful Americans to get votes, so any of her supporters who says anything nasty, like one of our very own members who's always saying Bernie Sanders is one whatever away from getting a heart attack and laughing about it, isn't Clinton's fault.

The same thing with Bernie, he's NEVER pandered to misogynistic males so if you blame him for a handful of idiots out there on the internet, then whatever. I'll blame Clinton from now on for anything one of her supporters says.

I googled "crazy hillary supporters" and found this video just to prove a point.

These people are stupid and uninformed but I'd never blame Hillary for the shit they say. She's a brilliant woman and most people are stupid and uninformed and that's not her fault.

I NEVER said he doesn't deserve to be president because of his supporters. That's preposterous. I NEVER blamed Bernie for it. I'm talking about some of his supporters and them alone. It has nothing to do with anything he's done or said. I'm pretty sure he's condemned his supporters that talk that way actually. And like I said - I like him a lot. I've met him. Stop twisting my words. And I also never said that all Hillary supporters are perfect - they certainly aren't. I want both sides to stop harboring such animosity for each other. We're becoming nearly as bad as the Republicans.

We will NEVER be like Republicans. NEVER. EVER. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER. Seriously, we talk about issues, facts and share our points of view and we get a little carried away, but you will never hear the shit you hear from Republicans here or basically anywhere else on the internet.

NEVER

Find ONE video of a Bernie supporter or Hillary supporter doing anything like this

Obviously I agree we'll never be as disgusting as the GOP but I still think we're better than the way we've been acting lately. I'm so sick and tired of all the negativity from both Hillary and Bernie supporters. We need to get rid of the electoral college and delegates and primaries in this country. It's an abomination. It makes the process so much longer and more painful and it's totally biased and just full of shit.

No offence but 8:00 minutes into this video...

Things weren't pretty back in 08 either. She was comparing Obama to Karl Rove :lmao: And she tells democrat that they should all be outraged... "Shame on you, Obama"

This is how things are every election. Don't act like this time around things are suddenly nasty. And don't act like it's Bernie's fault.

Well on most social media I've read, Bernie "supporters" (who are supposedly feminists and for equal rights and tolerance) have spewed nothing but the most revolting, misogynistic language towards Hillary and I find that deplorable. I love Bernie, I've met him a couple times and he used to be my Senator, but I prefer Hillary for President and would NEVER launch a baseless, personal attack against Bernie to try and bolster and justify my support for Hillary. I'm very disappointed in many of his supporters and would expect A LOT better from people who claim to be socialists and for complete tolerance and world peace and all that.

I agree. I see more hostility toward her from Bernie peeps than the other way around. I imagine it's because he's really the underdog in this race, and many people would rather tear down the other candidate than try to win supporters by talking about his positive points. She's an easy target as Fox News and the GOP have pretty much taught us all how to hate her even though she has done some good things for this country and broken more barriers than I can count.

Sadly a lot of people on both sides democrat and republican are uninformed as hell. The only difference is people on the left WANT these uninformed people to become more educated on issues, while people on the right like the fact that their base is dumbed down as hell and continue to willingly dumb them down.

Whenever I come across a left leaning person that knows nothing about the issues it saddens me. I WANT these people to be equipped with as much knowledge and facts as possible before they enter the voting booth. Frankly because I know by and large facts tend to have a liberal bias and a knowledgeable electorate is key to our country. Republicans like I said. They cant win on the facts so they want their voters far away from them as possible.

And yes I know Hillary at 16 could without a doubt evolved on issues. If people went back and looked at where I stood on issues when I was 16 I think they would be shocked. I for one and embarrassed about it. I wrote a short story that made it into our school magazine in high school and I read it now and cringe. Its all about Jesus and how he is coming back soon and how humans need to knock of their sinning and or be "left behind" come rapture time. Seriously. Cringe worthy.

Like I have said a TRILLION TIMES! If Hillary is the nominee I. Am. Voting. For Her. She is not my first choice but she will be my second. I just respect Bernie so much for being on the right side of the issues all of his life by and large. The man was blessed with a great moral compass from day one it seems.

I've spent over an hour trying to find 1 awful misogynistic comment about Hillary on her Facebook account. Just 1.

Nothing.

This is the worst I've found:

Race baiting pandering joke of a politician. You make me sick Hillary
Bernie Sanders fights for minorities. Hillary not so much...

Then:

Bernie marched on Washington with MLK Jr. in 1963 and was at the "I have a dream" speech. He fought for desegregated housing in Chicago in the 60's and he was arrested for protesting against segregation. He campaigned and endorsed rev. Jesse Jackson in 84' and 88'

Hillary Clinton supported republican Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidential election; Goldwater voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (supporting segregation). In the 80's Hillary was a lawyer for Walmart from (86-92), working to DISENFRANCHISE the poor via walmart's anti-union / low-wage policy, protecting the Walton family wealth. Walmart then supported the Clinton's for Bill's 92' campaign.

Now:

Bernie: conduct automatic federal investigations for anyone who dies in police custody (for Sandra Bland et al.). Hillary has nothing here.

Bernie: allow states to legalize marijuana and remove marijuana as a federally classified drug to help those affected most (minorities). Hillary wants to put marijuana on a lower drug enforcement classification but doesn’t want it legalized. So minorities would still disproportionately go to jail and tax payers would still pay for a broke justice system. And needed funding wouldn't go to help schools and local gov. programs from taxing legal marijuana sales.

Bernie: provide "postal-banking" so basic banking services can be accessed by ALL communities, especially those underserved, minority communities where, instead of banks, people often must cash checks at pay day lenders for 50-200% interest because there are no bank branches. Postal banking is something many advanced countries (Japan, Germany, Korea, NZ...) already offer in addition to commercial banking. Hillary wants..... well, I'm not sure how she plans on helping minority communities??

Bernie: all public colleges and universities to be tuition-free by paying for it with a tax on wall street speculation. Hillary does not want tuition-free higher ed. but wants "debt free tuition" where broke families and teens still need to pay. = barrier to entrance

Bernie: universal healthcare for ALL, as a right, not a privilege. Hillary wants to strengthen Obamacare, which serves some.

Bernie: raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and the top 1-2% will pay for it. Hillary wants to raise it to $12 an hour. $12 an hour is not even a living wage for a single person and doesn't account for inflation. How is $12 an hour for a single parent??

this coming election is not about gender, nor hate, nor bigotry. its about leadership. hillary, like obama, is inept and weak. after 8 years of apologize-appeasement, led from behind, inept and weak leadership, its time for change, and make this country great again.
HIL-LIAR-RY Rotten Clinton The Queen of the Pandering Fools!!!
I just heard a dog bark! Oh it's just HilLAIRy.
Perjury, destroying evidence required under subpoena, not securing classified docs ,taking bribes from foreign countries ,selling uranium to the Russians ,bribing Haiti to open a gold mine now that's what you call experience

I'm just scrolling and scrolling and not just picking things that back any agenda of mine. It's either 100% praise because, well, it's HER page, or these angry people, most of which seem to be Trump supporters.

"Trump wants to keep out brown people!? SIGN ME UP!!! YEEEEHAWWWW! MAKE AMERICA WHITE....ERM, I MEAN GREAT AGAIN!!!!"

She voted for the Iraq war when the president lied about weapons of mass destruction and when everybody believed him...

Bernie didn't believe him and he knew going to war would be an epic disaster that would destabilize the region.

Now granted most dems lacked a backbone during this moment in time because they didn't want to be viewed as "anti American" so those pussy ass pricks all stepped in line with Bush and went along with the worst blunder we ever made as a country in many respects. But not even for our country. The whole middle east became a bigger living hell that can be traced back to the Iraq war.

Only a few brave souls with a voice that could reach people had the balls to actually speak out. I mean the liberal bastion of Hollywood at the time even booed Michael Moore during his speech at the Oscars about Bush lying to the American people. It was an ugly time in our nations history where the truth was being stomped out left and right.

There was nothing to believe. Every UN report at the time contradicted what the Bush administration and Tony Blair were telling the American and British people and that's exactly what Bernie said. It wasn't rocket science.

Had people in congress (like Clinton) actually done their job and read those reports by the UN they would've known it was all Bullshit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush%E2%80%93Blair_2003_Iraq_memo

It has become controversial for its content, which includes discussing ways to provoke Saddam Hussein into a confrontation, with Bush floating the idea of painting a U-2 spyplane in United Nations colors and letting it fly low over Iraq to provoke Iraq into shooting it down, thus providing a pretext for America and Britain's subsequent invasion.

It also shows George Bush and Tony Blair making a secret deal to carry out the invasion regardless of whether weapons of mass destruction were discovered by UN weapons inspectors, in direct contradiction to statements made by Blair to Parliament afterwards that Saddam would be given a final chance to disarm.

And now politicians are getting Americans to believe that it's a good idea to leave the UN.

They did the same in Canada, for the last 10 years. Our right wing government did a lot of damage, internationnaly. Such a shame.

On this thread Hillary was called "corrupt" or "lying" several times and now you attack her on her vote for the war in Iraq... And you seem surprised that some people are answering??? Maybe you should stop attacking Hillary if you don't want us to answer.

Nobody attacked Bernie on this thread (except one guy who called him "old"), maybe you should do the same for Hillary. The supporters of Bernie always play the card "he's honest blabla" but in the same time they bully Hillary like a bunch of mongsters

DOWN WITH EXTREMISM!!!!

With regard to the whole name calling thing...I find that people who want to identify as being 'socialist' or 'left wing' tend to do so in a very vain way quite often. That can sometimes mean that they end up doing things that show how 'cool' they are rather than really fighting for what they believe in. Like the protestors outside of St. Paul's who were protesting against capitalism and yet buying Starbucks, using iPhones and eating McDonalds. Or the people who rioted and didn't know why. Or the people who danced on the face of a dead woman in the name of equality and human rights. :-/ It's actually quite sad how misguided people are and how they misdirect their energy. Like, stop trying to be cool. I can't stand hypocrisy.

There's plenty of things of the same kind that Obama has been involved in. So I don't think it's exclusive to the Bush administration/Republicans. Also, Tony Blair was running the party that is supposed to be our second most left wing party...That's why there needs to be balance. Everybody is pushing for extremism and it's really dangerous. People need to share more and label less.

You mean in the way that Obama and co dealt with that oil spill? Or how about these lies...

Untrue and now not even going ahead. Am I right?

Really bitch? :rotfl: It's not hard to point out the lies of politicians unfortunately. That's why you need somebody with long term goals and an approach at cultural change to really make a difference in politics. I love many things about Thatcher but I can't stand that her politics were so divisive. They needn't have been. Once people stop voting with fear then people in power will stop promoting fear in order to sway people's votes.

REPUBLICANS: FOREIGNERS ARE EVIL! VOTE FOR ME TO KEEP THEM OUT. CHANGE IS BAD.

DEMOCRATS: WE MUST OVERCOME OPPRESSION IN ORDER TO REMAIN FREE.
