I mean…are they insane?! Madonna's own brother, who at the time was feuding with her, confirmed to Howard Stern that it was at least $700 Million and that was in 2008! It's outrageous. She has so many businesses, investments, royalty earnings, tour earnings and let's not forget that she's infamously cheap. She just recently sold her LA mansion too. It's bullshit. Fuck you, Forbes. Even last year when they announced her as the highest grossing artist, the article was full of put-downs as well. Plus leaving her off the most powerful entertainer's list so often while listing and praising people with half of her influence, popularity and fame. It would not matter one iota except that for some reason the Forbes list always gets picked up, reported and quoted on tv shows etc. I remember one year, a show even used the Forbes list to try and demonstrate that other female stars were more famous than Madonna. During hard times they will be clinging on anything to "prove" the health of the american economy. Property, royalties, art, ad sponsorship, clothing lines, tours...plus she invests her profits. They can't know for sure what she's made if it's diversified. Madonna is not only part of the uber rich, but she's, as you mentioned, notoriously cheap. the one thing I am most disappointed in about Madonna is her cheapness. Although, I give her the benefit of the doubt, especially after her recent Detroit intervention, but I do not think boasting her richness in the world ...billionaire status etc...is a good path to take.
