True, totally, but that kinda adds to the assumption that more people would rather see two chicks makin out. Male Homosexuality is a huge taboo in many cultures.

Yeah it's a taboo, no one's arguing that. That's where this performance fails bc it goes w/ the status quo (sp). For such a "shocking" show, it was very safe.

We're talking about what the majority of people would actually prefer to see given the choice of same-sex kissing. In the case of heterosexual woman, it's MEN.

I don't watch much porn, but when I do it's gay porn. It's the only way to see halfway decent looking men. "Straight" porn is about the degradation of women (They even admit it). Kind off topic, but threw that in anyway.

I don't think anyone "owns" this thread at all. I couldn't disagree more with what Sloane said.

At least here in the US, two men kissing is NOT seen in the same way as two women, nor is it more desirable.

And you guys might be more inclined to wanting to see two men kiss...but most of America does NOT.

As for straight women...I think it depends on who you know, and your own biases and experiences. The straight women you know might prefer two men...but I've seen plenty of straight women that find it disgusting.

It's understandable that men would rather see two girls kissing, or women want to see two men kissing... but to me, that there lies the problem. It's all being seen through a hetero lens ...To me, what matters is that two people of the same sex are kissing period...

As for the performance, I think it was just meant to be fun and silly. Not everything has to be blatantly political. I just think Madonna wanted to have fun and of course, steal the show as she always does. As for shock, shock has always been there with here...even in a subtle sense. You may think she doesn't 'need' to do these things, and she doesn't...but I think she enjoys them and does them because she wants to. More so just a reflection of her sense of humor. To me, that's an integral part of Madonna.

It was rumored that M would perform but it was not confirmed. Mary said on the red carpet that she is excited to see the opening performance of Madonna or something like that.

About that kissing rant on the previous page: Madonna didn't intend to shock anybody. She even said that on Oprah. "It was just a friendly kiss." She was the groom and had two brides, it was meant to be ironic. Madonna truly seemed surprised that it was on the news for days/weeks.

Such an awesome performance-The 2 pop princesses definitely held their own but M left no doubt who the queen was.

I like Missy but I also could have done without her in this particular performance - she didn't fit in with the groom and her 2 brides theme.

Probably the most shocking moment of her career for me. I was NOT expecting THAT.

Yes, the Hollywood remix should have been the single, should have released it then. But I think it had already officially flopped at that point.

Don't think she was doing it just for shock value. She has slept with women before, so she's not pretending to be bi or anything.

Loved all the media attention afterwards.

Come on now babe, she was talkin' shit. :rotfl: She knew exactly. In fact she's done that a few times -- "can't believe me fingering meself on the bed could cause such a stir" :lmao: Please M!

IKR! People really believed what Madonna said on Oprah!

:dead:

A show catered at Middle Aged housewives in Oklahoma, yeah Madonnas really gonna go and say she meant to have a lesbian kiss on stage with a teeny bopper and didn't realise it would shock people. :lmao: aww bless

I loved the rumours about Jlo and P!nk joining her on stage. :lmao:

Weren't they confirmed? Madonna had a bday bbq or something and invited Britney and J.Lo which was probably when she sprung the performance idea on them. J.Lo refused to do it cuz she was about to marry Ben Affleck I think, and P!nk said that she was asked but couldn't do it. I remember reading in Us Weekly that Natalie Maines was also asked. All those people before Xtina

This is unarguably one of her most iconic moments EVER.

Like how dare she, as a middle aged mother of 2 french kiss a teen idol on a nationally broadcast award show while dressed in slight drag at a mock polygamous lesbian wedding. MADONNA. THE REBEL OF REBELS. :wow:

lol well you know, I don't think everything Madonna says is some kind of secret code. She is also not being ironic all them time. Therefore, she seemed genuinely surprised when Oprah repeatedly asked "You really have no clue why this is causing such an uproar" and M said "I really don't". I believe her. As she said, she made those statements 10 years ago.

This shit is so ICONIC, i mean everyone remembers this, i was just doing the performance yesterday at work with 2 friends hahaha.

Nothing will ever reach this, it's like Katy Perry and Beyoncé kissing Rihanna and they aren't even as famous as the former 3.

Ha! Loved it.

I love how Madonna comes out and the other 2 become her mere backing dancers.

Can someone verify for me though was Britney miming at the start? It sure as hell seems like it to me.
