If they're in a tie, it's because I was unable to pick a favorite among those specific ones. And, I guess it's true about Drowned World/Substitute for Love. But, it wasn't a single here in the U.S., where I'm from. So, to ME, it's an album track. If we have to count it as a single, then there wouldn't be a tie for me on Gone and Paradise Not for Me. But, I agree on the whole can't believing people love Spanish Eyes so much. I liked it when I was a kid, but it's too cheese-tastic to seriously like as an adult now. And, although I absolutely LOVE Borderline, I do have to admit that the PRODUCTION is cheesy and sounds very 80's - but, that adds to the charm, IMO, and the song's carried well by the fact that it, inherently, is a great song at its core. I, also, think that one of the best indicators as to how good an M song is would be to play it for a non or casual fans. If the consensus from such a group is overwhelmingly negative, then it usually means said song is just not a good song - regardless of how many M loons may love it. I've done this with Spanish Eyes and absolutely everyone who I've played it for has practically gagged. LOL! Mind you, that's not why I don't like it, but it gives you a sense as to the quality of the song. Meanwhile, most people - even non/casual fans - seem to love Borderline.
