Reissue rumours: first "Like a Prayer," now "Something to Remember"?

What about Tori Amos and Bjork?! They've released thousands of box-sets and remastered bonus things and their careers only started in the 1990's plus their fan-base is far smaller than Madonna's. It's certainly not a money issue it's just that nobody on her team can be bothered to it when there's gyms, perfumes, shows and other crap that is of no interest to anybody to be dealing with! Xxxx

I really believe its Madonna's choice not to release these things. She doesn't care about celebrating the past. I'm sure Celebration was a stretch for her.

Personally I think Celebration GH is just another contractual obligation.

I bet the next box set will be a Greatest Hits Collection, like the crappy Studio Albums one with You Can Dance, The Immaculate Collection, Something to Remember, GHV2 and Remixed & Revisited. There is no way they would include Celebration though as that would be too good and they must include R&R just to spoil it as well

What we should have got is a 3-CD box set, Greatest Hits in chronological order at a fair price, it would sell much better than the Celebration mess: (this based on a 2009 release, all remastered with 8 rare/bonus tracks and 2 new songs)

CD 1

  1. Everybody (Edit)
  2. Burning Up
  3. Holiday (Edit)
  4. Lucky Star (Edit)
  5. Borderline (Edit)
  6. Ain't No Big Deal (BONUS)
  7. Like A Virgin
  8. Material Girl
  9. Crazy for You
  10. Into the Groove
  11. Dress You Up
  12. Live to Tell (Edit)
  13. Papa Don't Preach
  14. Open Your Heart
  15. La Isla Bonita
  16. Who's That Girl
  17. Causing A Commotion (Silver Screen Single Mix)
  18. Spotlight (Edit) (BONUS)
  1. Like A Prayer (Album Version with Fade)
  2. Express Yourself (Shep Pettibone Remix)
  3. Supernatural (Sly & Robbie Remix) (BONUS)
  4. Vogue (Single Version)
  5. Justify My Love
  6. This Used to Be My Playground (Short Version)
  7. Erotica (Edit)
  8. Deeper and Deeper (Edit)
  9. Rain
  10. Goodbye to Innocence (BONUS)
  11. Secret (Edit)
  12. Take A Bow
  13. Bedtime Story
  14. Human Nature (Album Version)
  15. Liquid Love (BONUS)
  16. You'll See
  17. You Must Love Me

CD 3

  1. Frozen (Edit)
  2. Ray of Light
  3. The Power of Good-Bye
  4. Revenge (BONUS)
  5. Beautiful Stranger
  6. Music
  7. Don't Tell Me
  8. Liquid Love (BONUS)
  9. Die Another Day
  10. Hollywood
  11. Hung Up
  12. Sorry
  13. Get Together
  14. 4 Minutes
  15. Give It 2 Me
  16. Across the Sky (BONUS)
  17. Celebration (NEW)
  18. Revolver (NEW)

This way you get a "greatest hits", "rarities" (without the shit ones crammed on to an album) and also 2 new songs, everyone is happy....

True but she did do 2 new songs for it

If thats what you call them. Compared to the brilliance that was Justify and Rescue Me, I would call them garbage. She would have been better off just adding two more hits, and rereleasing/ reArranging an old song as a single.

I say hurry up and reissue I'm breathless as well, we never hear of any bonus songs/ demos from this underrated era:(

Sorry but I prefer Celebration to this. No Cherish? And I'd much rather they keep the reject songs separate to the hits.

Yes well, neither made my top 40 but I did enjoy them. 'Celebration' was a hit.

I also think M has some sort of clause in her contract that says they can't release anything without her permission (at least in the U.S.).

it's a shame that WB hasn't at least reissued remasters, but then again... it's WB! I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't exist as a label five years from now. They also have a reissue arm called Rhino, which is probably where any reissues would be released, and honestly, I'm not crazy about Rhino. Their stuff just looks low-budget.

I think what someone else said is true. We'll probably get this stuff 15 years from now when she's not really releasing anything. When Madonna and her management actually decide they want to cash in on her back catalogue or feel the need to ignite some interest in old projects. Infact, we'll probably get better stuff when she's not even here at all. Look at all the MJ stuff that's been coming out since he died and you just know it's only the beginning of that. Plus The Beatles, Elvis etc. Plus all the books, merchandise. There's alot of money to be made off the Madonna brand for a very long time.

Are all you MAD? Madonna is NOT gonna release her outtakes whatsoever so there is no point to debate this. 30years later and no outtakes exist in original ALBUM form minus leaks or B-sides.

It is an outtake because it is not good enough, the time was controversial, the lyrics were wrong for that time set, music didn't fit the album flow...and so forth!

Madonna MUST approve everything they release in her name. So if she says no, then they cannot release it...so perhaps she doesn't give a shit about it. She only cares about her new stuff tbh + you never know who owns the rights to specific songs etc and maybe there is a problem with releasing it because x or y will need paid xxx amount so she says...fuck it, buy my Greatest Hits!

If each song was edited down to 2-3 minute tracks it could work. A highlights collection

Sort of like that Kylie Non Stop History 50+1 album where all the songs mix into each other?
