EW has a 100 All Time Greatest edition, and, of course, it has an albums list.

Not surprisingly, the album that ranked highest on the 1983-2008 list makes an appearance here. However, EW strayed from the order for albums from 1983-2008 on this list. For instance, there are albums on this list, that ranked lower on the 83-08 list than albums that do not appear here.

At least she made a list, and better yet, at least they didn't choose Like a Virgin. Don't get me wrong, I love the LAV album, but magazines like these always tends to pick that album because of the title track.

^Um, she's had PLENTY of acclaim thus far. She's hardly starving for it. :)

In the magazine, there are sketches. One page has "The Pop Icons"- Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Madonna, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and Prince. The Madge sketch is of her circa-1983 look.

These lists are always men men men men men at the top and then woman. Then it's men men men, woman, men men men, woman and, then towards the end men woman woman woman. Like A Prayer is not in there? Ray of Light? How were they chosen? Madonna should have been higher. Her music does not receive the praise it deserves.

It's like Rolling Stone when they put out there special issues of greatest artist of all time and out of 16 people on the cover not one is a woman. Women are still not 100% taken seriously. Rolling Stone only likes women who want to put down other women.

Larks- men always dominate these things. Been that way for years and years- and probably will continue to be.

The Madonna album is fun and contains classics- but, I think it gets as much praise as it does more for its influence. I mean, it is NOT a better album than LAP, ROL and some of her others. But no denying that you can pretty much trace any dance-pop to come after it, back to the album.

Cody- it did sound as if you meant that M was lacking in ACCLAIM- so, misunderstanding. :) She's done pretty well for someone categorized as a dance-pop act.

remember when EW made the 100 greatest entertainers of all time list and madonna came in at #5 and some people were outraged she was considered so high

I think the list is ok ( minus LAP ) but just the order is out of whack. I never understood the appeal of Lauryn Hill. Found the album really cheap, played it and it has so many fillers with a couple of great songs. And praise Jesus, because they usually put shit like Rhiana, Brittney, Mariah, and Gaga on lists like this, respect!

The list as a whole doesn't bother me at all....it should say 'in America' though....I guess it's implied. And I prefer Madonna to LAP and ROL, so really it just boils down to personal opinion....and who really cares, right?

One thing....Adele?

That list is meaningless...just like the recent Forbes list...it's all based on fashion trends and acts being pushed/promoted...how else can you explain any Daft Punk album featuring in a popularity list? They would never have featured pre-2013 - ever.

IKR? Nothing against her, but come on...

One question though. Was there EVER a list that we could've agree with? They are so subjective and there is no way to please everyone.

I remember flipping through a book a long time ago "The 1001 albums you have to listen to before you die" or something like that. It was pretty cool seeing Madonna, LAV, LAP, ROL and even Music in it.

Her entire catalogue should just be listed as a single point.....you need them all to understand her as an artist.

She is in very good company on that list. We should be proud.

As much as I love Madonna - The album I would have preferred to see LAP on that list .

But this is Entertainment WEEKLY .

This list will be forgotten next week .

I agree. Despite the great singles on that album and it being one of hr highest sellers its by far one of her weakest. I think Like a Prayer and Ray of Light should be on this list too.
