Some Girls and Falling Free were rehearsed for the tour

In a new interview with MadonnaTribe, Drew Dollaz - one of the MDNA Tour dancers - revealed that two songs were cut from the setlist after having been rehearsed.

It appears "Some Girls" was rehearsed as part of the Masculine/Feminine section (it was eventually replaced by "Vogue"), and "Falling Free" was rehearsed as a video/dancer interlude.

"Some Girls" 'was going to have the same "runway feel" but more up tempo, more sassy', whereas the "Falling Free" interlude was intended as a solo for Chaz Buzan.

Personally, I can't imagine the MDNA show without "Vogue", and most certainly not with "Some Girls" in its place. And I also wonder where "Falling Free" would have fit in, considering that it was only an interlude. In place of "Best Friend", maybe?

What do you think?

I'm glad they did Vogue too! EVen though Some Girls would look cool with those costumes and that look

Those opening alarm synths of Some Girls were MADE to be heard live and extremely loud in an arena! Is that not obvious to anyone else?

Would no one else love to see Madonna saying "Got their fuck me porn star heels on" with an amount of sass only matched by a million drag queens?

Yes, the Vogue performance is everything, but it wouldn't have killed anyone to throw in Some Girls in there between Vogue and Candy Shop.

I agree with you Adreeyen, even though Some Girls is my least fave song off of MDNA it wouldve worked well live! The beat would've been amazing! Lets hope the next tour she will give it a go!

some girls would have been amazing with all the male dancers dressed in drag

but Vogue fits perfectly as well

i hope some girls is performed on the next tour if she remembers it

kind of like how How High was supposed to be a video interlude for confessions and then that song was just forgotten

same with Impressive Instant for S&S, II would have been perfect during the last section of mdna

I love Vogue, but this MDNA version was bland live. I saw it twice and I didn't feel the connection with the song. But Vogue always will be better than any new song.

About Vogue..., as much as I love it, and at the Superbowl even more..., ever since the MDNA tour started, I have not seen one complaint about M shortening certain songs. PDP doesn't count as that is already given and already has it's own complaint thread. But, Vogue and Express Yourself, they're not the full songs. Sometimes when I listen to Vogue from the MDNA tour, I get a bit letdown that the whole "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooh, YOU GOT 2, LETCHA BODY MOOOOVE 2 THA MUUUUZZZIK!" is not in it. :(

Exactly. It DESERVED a live performance.

Some girls would have been cool to see, but agree that most people who saw the tour did not know many of the new songs. I also have to admit that I rather hear her sing falling free than LAV, but LAV was very good.

Vogue MDNA was lush, cinematic, and simply...everything. And like so many songs - finally was performed as close to it's original composition as it could get. Coupled with full on Gaultier...it was the element of the whole MDNA show that was quintessential Madonna. Utter perfection...at least to me.

But yes, like EY and others, was an edit. Vogue should NEVER be edited. Sacrilege.

That being said...Some Girls certainly deserved a performance. Like Girl Gone Wild, on the album it's ok...played on a speaker system it's great...but live (like GGW) would have been unbelievable. You can just feel it's one of those songs that needs to be done live....and would have taken on a whole other life.

Should have come right after Vogue, or Candy Shop...esp. if this was to a be a new 'sassy, runway' version.

On the other hand, as much as I like the performance of Revolver...the song itself isn't a favorite of mine. I wouldn't of minded seeing Some Girls instead of Revolver, right after GGW. Sure, might not go quite with the gun metaphor that Revolver uses so well (obviously), but I could seriously see bad ass bitches wielding guns going with Some Girls.....

It's funny, she could really fit a few more songs in her shows, but she doesn't... and the songs that get full length treatment (or extended versions) vs edits is always kind of a 'scratch your head' moment when it comes to M.

I get it. Certainly Some Girls deserved its moment in the show, rather than Revolver or I Don't Give A.

Falling Free could've replaced Masterpiece, although not in that part of the show. I would've made it an intro to Like A Virgin.

Since they never made it into the show anyway, I think it would be cool if the rehearsals were taped and put onto the DVD as extras. I know it won't happen, but how cool would that be?

Good riddance to "Some Girls",

But a "Falling Free" interlude would have been good. Could have had elements of "Best Friends" as a midtempo Orbit-esque remixette..

I'm falling, I'm falling free..... it's so sad that it had to END.

Sort of kind of thing. (Edit)

I guess I'm in the minority, but I didn't care for the Vogue performance. She looked great, but all she did was walk around.

I would have preferred Some Girls, but I agree that Vogue was good to have for the general audience that didn't know the new songs.

I would have loved Falling Free, but wouldn't have removed Like A Virgin or Masterpiece. It could have been squeezed in somewhere. :)

MDNA the tour was perfect the way it was. Did seem a bit short in its early days, but when she added Love Spent :dramatic:

Vogue was great in the section it was in and good for the casual fans.

Some Girls, could have worked in M/F section men in heels etc. I think it would have been better after Express Yourself, I can just imagine her singing She's Not Me and then going into Some Girls, even if it was only like half the song.

Falling Free as an interlude
