thebigham Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 CHART PREVIEW: Next week’s Top 5 should all be north of 100k for the first time this year and with much less stratum than in previous weeks. Six of our projected Top 10 entries are debuts, and a seventh, Chris Brown, is resurging thanks to his deluxe edition hitting the streets. Topping next week’s chart will be the debuting Disturbed (Reprise) with 235-250k, followed by two more bows in DGC/Geffen’s Weezer at 150-160k and Capitol’s Now 28 at 145-155k. Usher appears headed for #4 with 140-150k, with Journey’s Wal-Mart exclusive locking down the fifth slot on 100-110k. The projected second five are Ashanti (Universal Motown) with 75-85k, Sex and the City (New Line) with 55-60k, second-week entry 3 Doors Down (Universal Republic)45-50k, Jewel (Valory) with 45-50k and Chris Brown (Jive) with 35-40k. (6/6a)

Skin Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Hmmm. Moo cow and Madonna out of the top 10. Topping next week’s chart will be the debuting Disturbed (Reprise) with 235-250k Man. How did they pull a big one like that off!? Is their fanbase really that big? .......On a sidenote the lead singer of that group gets me all hot.
Nightshade Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Man, with all those debuts even Mariah will be evicted from the Top 10. I wonder where Madonna will land - probably the high teens or low 20's?
Nightshade Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Who is or are "Disturbed"? A hard metal band. They had a big hit a years ago with a song called, "The Sickness." It's a great track but very heavy and particularly frightening (especially the vocals). I agree that the lead singer is kind of hot though.

HolidayGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I take it that Chris Brown had a re-release or somethin' last week? We're looking at a drop to No. 18, just based on new entries- and then there's the possibility of any albums below HC jumping it. AL dropped just 2 spots in its 6th week, 49-51 (and then dipped 21 spots the following week).
HolidayGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Guess HITS will be slightly off with Now 28? Journey already at 61,311, with elss than 1/3 of reports in- guess other stores bought copies from Wal-Mart like they did with Eagles? The 61k must be from one supplier.
HolidayGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 ^Yeah, but some could be from outlets that went and bought copies from Wal-Mart, no? That's what happened with the Eagles- am sure the great bulk came from Wal-Mart reports, though. I guess Billboard/SoundScan has a way of filtering out "double scans" for instances like this- say FYE goes and buys 100 copies of Journey and then sells it at FYE- you'd think the barcode would register twice- and if it does, guess the one scan gets filtered out?

whyme? Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 ouch, what a nosedive...#30?? why does she wait forever to release singles? (not like give it to me will actually do anything for the album, but still).

Yes, but it would not be that many copies. Like I said Wal-Mart has two suppliers. One reported. One hasn't.

Candylipsgirl Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Im over it. MC is flopping just as bad! Gi2me needs to bring muscle to HC sales. Or at least stability! Thats the only hope I see, if not, HC will just tank beyond rescue
HolidayGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 If your'e over it, then I'm sure you won't go on complaining about it, eh, candyl?

boy skeffington Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 It's early. I huge part of this is from WAL-MART. (Thankfully) Madonna doesn't sell the majority of her cds there.

HolidayGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Nice gain with that update. A final SoundScan figure of roughly 26,850 would be nice (taking it to 525,000). But, 25,500 or so wouldn't be bad (would be around a 20% drop).
