well, Bedtime Stories had a smaller opening than Erotica but went on to sell about a million more, so...

it will all depend on the singles and whether they're radio hits or not.

True and at the time when Bedtime Stories was released Madonna was coming out of a huge backlash because of the Sex book. That's why I think that the next song she were to release from Hard Candy should be Heartbeat, BGO, or even Dance 2night. Give it 2 me is not a great follow-up in the USA.

She needs to come to the USA and do the kind of promo she did with Ray of Light! She needs to leave Warner with a bang.

282k. hmm actually not as bad *at all* as I was beginning to think! lol. 30k+ more than AL (thank GOD) .Will be VERY eager to hear BBs final #s tomorrow. Will either be close, dead close to 300k :) or more like 270 :(.

Interesting that it matched HDD initial estimates! Billboard was way off, if those numbers hold true in Soundscan.

lets pray that soundscan is higher

lol

yes! cause dont 4get w/ MIMI 3 weeks ago, HDaily was actually way OVER than BB ended up being (which is rare) :scared:

Why is billboard giving such a low estimate (220-240k)?. soundscan is usually quite close to Hits. retards. anyways, i'm hoping second week would not be such a fall off.

better than nothing...

I'm a little relieved though... it looked like it could have been under 250 for a while...

I hope it won't be lower for BB though.... hopefully higher... would be great to see 3 as the first number instead of 2...

seriously from the early HD %s, estimates, aura in the air etc..I was truly dreading she do around 225-250 (max)! :( This IS a relief! :) :)

GI2M is the best song on the album. :boxing:

I wouldn't go that far...it's a good song, it's just not the type of song that will attract the average USA buyer! I honestly think that BGO should be released next atleast in the USA, even Heartbeat is a better choice. Hopefully I will be wrong.

She is lucky to pull that much given the sorry promotion she has done. 282k is good considering. If it wasn't for 4M, it would have been bad.

Bigham...aren't you a bit overboard with some of the flop comments? There is a difference between being insulting and just making a comment about an album flopping....

I agree. BGO should've been the next single.

Considering the market has fallen about 30% since 2005, these sales are the "2005 equivalent" of about 400k.

The economic state of the US is also a pretty sorry one - gas prices are high, food costs a lot more, people are getting fucked in the housing market - a lot of people have much less spending money than they used to and must buy the essentials (which for most, unfortunately, does NOT include Hard Candy)

I am A-OK with 282K, given the market and lowered expectations in the last week. Billboard seems way off here.
