Looking for Mercy...
Could this be one of Madonna's best songs like EVER?Â

FLOORED BY LOOKING FOR MERCY.
Oh my god

IKR? I love love Confessions but I don't remembering having this kind of reaction to the final minute of any of those songs.

Well, I was unsure if a Mirwais/M collaboration is a good idea and so far theirs are the very obvious stand out tracks. Even only for IDSIF their collaboration WAS NEEDED. And God Control. I am absolutely impressed by Mirwais/Madonna collaboration. I think if they wanted, they could have done an album similar to COADF and dare I say, even stronger :).
My thoughts exactly. This feels slightly less polished/slick, more organic than Confessions. Wow.

I don't mean to be hyperbolic, but the last 60 seconds of God Control might well be one of the best things she's ever done. I'm speechless.Â

I'm living for God Control, but I don't think radio will touch it. I think the video might have a lot of views and give the album a stronger second/third week if the video is released.Â
The choir and the strings are everything.Â

I need God Control. Desperately.Â

I donât search has a simple melody/lyrics. In less capable hands the song would be like an mdna reject, but Mirwaisâ production is sublime and it really carries the song. Probably my favorite at this point

Does The Sun (5/5!!!) count toward Metacritic?

I heard a 10-sec snippet of what is probably God Control on atrl.
I couldnât believe my ears. It sounded spectacular!!!!!!

If you search for the song on Twitter it seems that 70% of the comments are from Brazil, and fans are loving the song. Didnât see this sort of reaction when the other ones came out. A lot of people are saying  â THIS is the Madonna weâd been waiting for.â
Sheâs still such an icon in Brazil. It breaks my heart that she doesnât think weâre relevant enough for a leg of the tour here Â

Itâs funny how theyâre having trouble pinning some of the songs down to specific genres. Which is a good sign, I think. We must be in for a unique listening experienceÂ
-
So it looks as if the Madonna-only version is a thing. Really curious to hear what it sounds likeÂ
-
I wouldâve thought Swae Lee would post something on Instagram about the video.Â
Nothing.Â
Am I missing something?
If the Queen of the Universe had asked me to appear on her music video, I would spend a week telling the whole world about it.Â
WTF?

A representative for Madonna provided EW with a photo of the performance (above) with a note that âa message of peace is not political.â
Oh, ok. Sorry Â

Two random thoughts before I move on to stanning Dark Ballet hard next week:
1. Whereâs the new PR firm in all of this? Maybe theyâre doing damage control in the background? Or just playing dead?
2. Isnât it funny how up until last week we were mostly counting on Europe for the kind of support she needed for this era (especially charts), and now I think itâs mostly the US that will have her back (especially since the Eurovision is not a thing over there).Â

Iâve just watched an unfixed video and I got the impression that besides the karaoke-sounding arrangement, there was a mixing issue, too. It seems her voice either stood out too much or appeared drowned out. Did you guys feel the same way?
Mike Dean is the man behind this mess, isnât he?Â
Wonder if sheâll pick him as musical director for the tour

The only point here is she didn't win the GP back. Quite the opposite. The performance (Future) was theatrically remarkable, but lacked stamina and was too subtle for a dumb event watched by (mostly) dumb people. The press and haters are having a field day here. Wish that happened in other event, not one watched by millions across Europe. Yes, attention span last one minute nowadays. Let time pass. Cue to Madonna: if you can't sing Like a Prayer, don't sing it at all.   Â
Yeah, I get it. But just as all this hatred and vitriol are short-lived, so is, I think, whatever praise she mightâve gotten. The superbowl was almost universally acclaimed, but did it stop the haters, did it win back the gp? Maybe for a month or two.Â
A stellar performance mightâve propelled LAP into the upper echelons of European charts for a week and helped with ticket sales. But Iâm not sure it wouldâve turned back the clock to 2006 or even 2011.Â
-
Maybe Iâm being too naive/optimistic, but I think the political/defying message is starting to get more attention than the off key singing or whatever.Â
Maybe all the backlash will ultimately backfire and sheâll have the last laugh. Itâs hard to see things in perspective right now, but maybe weâre missing the bigger picture? I donât know. Just thinking outloud, I guess.Â

I mean c'mon, it's rare to get a good vocal performance from her live
Well I saw RH in Washington DC and I thought she was flawless.Â

God I wouldâve loved to have loved it, but it wasnât remarkable. And her vocals on LAP were shaky.
Twitter is killing her (whatâs new), but the whole thing will have blown over by next week and life will go on as usual. Plenty of promo ahead and she can still get some good PR
Curios how/if this performance will impact European charts
