  1. So yeah: save some money, or get a credit card, and pay for a damn good seat. Eat rice and beans for a month, don't go out, and you'll be all set. It's absolutely worth it.

It is so worth it. I'm planning to see the next show twice. I'm pretty sure she doesn't come to Finlabd this time around but maybe Sweden or/and Estonia. I saw MDNA & S&S once but CT twice :)

  3. My fave book about Madonna is Christopher Ciccone's book Life With my Sister:Madonna. Yes apart from the obvious betrayal factor it was great to read a book about her from someone that has known her for 50 years. The little details in it like the perfume she uses, or how she tucks her thumbs into her fists when shes feeling vulnerable add the personal touches that only someone that knows her properly would know.

    Great thread btw!

I feel so strongly against this book that I might never read it.. :nocomment:

  4. I just finished Madonna: Like an Icon by Lucy O'brien. It is the first Madonna book I have read.

I actually thought it was very interesting. It has been criticized for its extended commentary about Madonna's recording process, but I actually liked the book because of that. First and foremost she is an artist and I'm always interested to read about her album sessions. I was thrilled to read how she was working (and connecting) with different producers/photographers/dancers/DJs/. O'brien wasn't always very objective while writing: sometimes it was annoying when she pretty much told that some songs/ projects weren't good. But she is a fan so didn't hurt that much.

The most interesting parts of the book were her years before her First album, SEX era and ROL sessions.

    4/5

  5. Most singers (especially Beyoncé), are so safe! Yeah you're in the top 40, got a ton of grammies, your hair is hot and you look like a real diva on stage! You got the word fierce attached to you in every tabloid, but what the hell are you really fierce about? What do you do to make this world a better place? Started from the bottom now you're here, great! But now what??

Madonna has been taking so much shit since the 80s because she's not worried about looking fierce! She uses her star power to stir things up in areas

Your whole post was amazing. Thanks for that!

I just wanted to highlight this ^ part. I just finished reading "Like an Icon" and it's amazing what this woman has done in past 30+ years. She has done so much and has never been ashamed of things she has done or said because there has always been a reason. She is never affraid to stand for the weak. She can be provocative and doesn't always act nice because she knows she NEEDS to wake up people. She isn't stupid. She is one of smartes woman I have ever "known".

    She is truly a saint.

  6. WOW.

I didn't see this coming. This makes me sick to my stomach. Everything has already been said in previous posts, but how the hell is age relevant when it comes to music? :banghead:

Madonna, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Björk, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Sade - just to name few "old" (UGH!) female singers who have had made one of their best work after their 40s.

I hope people (celebs too) will (and already have) react to this. But most of all I hope Madonna will make a comment about this. This is the next wall she needs to break!

  7. I have pre-ordered deluxe version on iTunes. That will be the one I listen on 6th when it's released here. With headphones first. And wine will be part of the experience too :D

I will also buy physical albumS. I obviously buy the super duper deluxe version and also deluxe version. I might also buy the standard. I have all Madonna albums (most of the versions too, except Japan) so these 3 RH albums will all have place in my home.

  8. People are forgetting that the demos were merely a part of the process. Replacing the final tracks with demos is completely ridiculous. The final album is the statement Madonna wanted to put out. No one had to listen to the demos, but they chose to and ruined the album for themselves.

allowing yourself to get so used to them that you can't even listen to the finished album is just insane.

    Great post! And very true.
  9. Yes yes YES. She has an unique, instantly recognizable voice. When she sings, there is always so much warmth, passion and emotions. It's funny that people still won't believe she can't sing (or make music herself) when EVERY producer she has ever worked with have said she is a great singer AND amazing producer.

She also sometimes fails (badly) but that happens to everybody. Plus I rather take "bad" singing than bad lip-syncing any day.

  10. I love how she seems to really be embracing her age this era. Its really the most pioneering thing she can do at this point

    I love this!!

Everyone has already quoted this but this part was so fucking point on I'll quote it too:

"sexuality -- in my 50s, even though that's also considered taboo, and I get a lot of shit for it. But in 20 years, Miley Cyrus probably won't get shit for it. Then, it'll be like, "Oh, yeah, that's nothing new."
