That's his usual tactic : when he's attacked on something, he fights back with the same attack.
- Rape accusations = "Bill Clinton is a rapist".
- No tax return / what is he hiding = "Hillary deleted her emails, she's hiding something".
- Birther movement = "Hillary started it".
- Bad temperament = "Hillary has no stamina".
- Unfit to be president = "Hillary doesn't have the presidential look".
- Coke accusation (sniffs) = "Hillary should take a drug test".

Now this is just two separate campaigns. Trump spends all his time answering the accusations and fighting against the republicans and the newspapers. Hillary does her own business, talking about her plans (education with Bernie, global warming with Gore in Florida...).
It's really a strange campaign but I think Hillary is doing the right thing. The GOP candidates should have done the same during the primaries : talk about their plans instead of spending all their time answering Trump's insults.

When Hillary was in office she was very popular. She was reelected senator with 67%. She left the State Department with 65% positive ratings. This unpopularity began when she announced she was candidate and when the republicans started throwing dirt at her.
Once elected, she will be judged on her actions and I think she's smart enough to do good things and be popular.
