Okay...someone out there has a shady, c*nty clip of Googoo during Ms performance. WHY didnt the Grammie show her at 'all' during the performance. Def. a calculated reason ;8P lol
They didn't cut away much during her performance because they knew people at home would be pissed if they cut away and we didn't get to see everything going on on stage

What a great performance!! I loved the new mix of the song!! She's put on some weight, I think the 'healthier' body looks good, it harkens back to the Virgin tour.

Exactly! I'd prefer the wild over the tamed version myself. I think some of the criticism directed at SPIN is unfair though. The points they made are ones I've come across in several fan sites. including this one. It's their opinion on the music they've heard, I don't think it means they have an axe to grind or anything like that. I can't tell at this point whether I would agree with them or not, because I haven't heard most of the leaked songs. But apparently the final versions have also leaked so it's not like they are reviewing only on the basis of leaked demos. That part where they mentioned they were going to enlighten M on how to "preserve her legacy" was pretty ridiculous though.

I agree that it doesn't matter with regard to the quality of the song or the video how many views it has, and I hope nobody changes their opinion of how good the song/video is based on the view count. However, I think many of those who are concerned about the youtube views still see Madonna as a current artist, and want her to be able to hold up well against the achievements of other current artists. I think it's a testament to the impact that Madonna has had that many fans fully expect her to be able to compete on the same field with artists that have started out decades after she did and still be able to hold her own or even come out ahead. It's probably an unrealistic expectation, but it speaks a lot to her continuing relevance in the current pop world that people (fans, critics and even non-fans) have that expectation.

Shazam is by far the most useful app ever, and one of the easiest to use. It will recognize a song just by the music (no words needed), for example if you catch the end of a song and even if there are no more words sung it will still recognize the song and tell you the name of the song, the album and artist, which obviously you can't do with google if you don't catch any of the words. It'll be cool to see what the special surprise will be with the Shazam tie-in, since it does sound like something has been planned.

My first impression of the vid was, she is a bull fighter as in bullshit she stands against on a daily basis , I also got the impression with the video and album vocals, that she is showcasing herself. The vocals on the album are almost raw, the video is stylish, minimal, sleek, stunning, choreographed, like her live show, .
The video also gave me who's that girl tour, you can dance , papa don't preach, reinvention tour, confessions tour, sticky sweet tour ,girlie show, mdna tour, erotica Super Bowl , & take a bow vibes ,
I like how the video can also be the perfect response to take a bow, in take a bow her heart was broken by a bill fighter, and here she is the bull fighter
This is a very intriguing way of viewing the video. I also agree with the person who said it represents her fighting her demons. It's a very artistic video with deep meaning below the surface. I love the fact that the artistic aspect is not just in the video making but also in the interpretative dance element. I hope M does something like that at the Grammys!!

Mojo should have done a lengthier list of her best songs- like, a top 40/50. Would be nice if Rolling Stone did that sometime in the coming months, dedicate an issue to her and her best music (as it's done for some other acts- no females as of yet, though).
Yeah, it would've been good to get a longer list. I liked their commentary, but disagreed with some of their choices on the top 10, so it would've been nice to see what the commentary would have been on other songs in a longer list.
I also liked their introduction to the list:
"WHAT DID WE LEARN, immersing ourselves in Madonna’s oeuvre, in preparation for the cover story in the latest MOJO magazine? Firstly (and, like, durr) that she has a lot of great songs. Secondly, that for a predominantly dance-pop artist, she is uncommonly artful and eclectic. Thirdly, that she can’t help but pour her life into her songs, even the ones she didn’t, technically, write."

I figured since M's own band (except the piano guy) don't seem to be involved in this performance, maybe the other U2 members might be her band, given that they have the Guy O connection. I thought they might do a mix of both of their songs, with her singing on their song, and them playing on hers...

I think this is all based in her upbringing. And she even said it many times. When it comes to money she is still that middle class girl from Michigan. She has a very old-fashioned approach when in comes to money. You want something? Well, you have to work hard to earn the money to buy that thing. Very much the opposite of what's going on today where you see those young singers / hip hop artists with a little bit of success that throw money out of the window as if there is no tomorrow, buying McMansions that the can't really afford etc. All financed with bank loans. Part of her overall success is her reliabilty and her involvement in the business side of the industry. Something that cannot be said about everyone and something that was certainly not expected when she started out. I think it was one of the most fascinating things to read in the first biographies that were published that industry people were "shocked" when she attended business meetings. Something they were not used to. And this kind of attitude makes me think that she would be just as succesful if she was working in a more traditional field. She could be a CEO of a big company or a top lawyer.
I agree with most of this. In addition to making her a very wealthy woman, I think the old-fashioned midwestern values of working hard and saving your money are also what make M very relatable to a lot of people, esp in the US.
Unfortunately the phenomenon of musicians (or celebrities) going broke is not a recent one affecting just today's young singers / hip hop artists. CNBC made list a few years on which there are a wide range of musicians, from different decades and musical genres, that went bankrupt due to carelessness, lack of discipline, overspending, etc. Not on the list, but I think LG also declared bankruptcy at one point, and even Michael Jackson was allegedly broke before he died.
