    Meerkat’s Founder on Snagging Madonna, Battling Periscope

    What was supposed to be a big win for Meerkat turned into a debacle on Tuesday when thepremiere of Madonna’s new music video on the live video streaming service for the upcoming single “Ghosttown” failed.

    That it did so again this morning was a “stupid mistake,” said Meerkat founder Ben Rubin. It’s just another one of the service’s challenges as it finds itself suddenly up against Twitter’s Periscope, a service that appears to be a direct rival.

    Madge’s fans were eventually placated when the stream started working 10 minutes late, after Meerkat’s team tracked down the engineering problem. At the end of the video, users were introduced to Meerkat’s newest feature, a link directing viewers to buy Madonna’s album on iTunes. All broadcasters will now be able to program a button to pop up at the end of the stream and connect people to external sites like YouTube channels, items in the iTunes stores or online articles. It turns the livestreams into a marketing tool for businesses, but it could also be used by regular consumers to build up their Twitter following or direct readers to their blog.

    I sat down with Rubin to find out whether Meerkat is dead, how Madonna discovered it, if he’s paying her to use it and other mysteries of the livestream universe. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.

    Re/code: How did you get connected to Madonna?

    Rubin: I can’t talk about it.

    You can’t talk about it?

    No. Her people — it’s just not something I can talk about.

    Are you paying her to stream?

    No, no, no.

    Have you considered paying famous people to stream?

    You cannot do it. It’s like being an artist and paying for people to come see you.

    Jamie Dornan: 'I'll put Madonna watching The Fall on my CV'

    Jamie Dornan has opened up about finding out that her Madjesty Madonna is a fan BBC thriller The Fall.

    The Fifty Shades of Grey hunk already has millions of female fans after playing Christian Grey, but now he can add Madonna to the list.

    The singing sensation recently revealed she was a big fan of the show.

    “I didn’t know she binge watched the show,” Jamie admitted.

    I don’t read all her interviews,” he joked.

    When told she watches The Fall and True Detective, Jamie replied “Oh really, that’s good company.”

    “Yeah, I’ll probably start putting that in my CV, that’s pretty cool,” he to the LA Times.

    Humbled by his new number one fan, the 32-year-old actor revealed it’s not the first time he’s encountered a famous fan. “That’s a lovely thing that The Fall is one of those shows where a lot of people I admire happen to like it.

    Diplo, you helped out Madonna on her new album. Do you think she'll return the favour on a Major Lazer track?
    Diplo: "Yeah she would love to. She did a dubplate for us and I think 'Unapologetic Bitch' was a Major Lazer idea that we just wrote real quick and she loved it so it came out as one of her songs."

    Madonnas Living For Love hurtling towards Official Chart Top 20

    Pop superstar Madonna is already firing up the Official Chart Top 40 with her latest track, after less than two days on sale.

    Madonna may have stumbled at this years BRIT Awards, but her new single Living For Love is carrying her up this weeks Official Singles Chart, OfficialCharts.com can reveal.

    After less than two days on sale, the singers latest release is currently placed at Number 26, according to todays Official Charts Company sales flash (February 27). She's just over 1,000 chart sales away from the Top 20, while another 10,500 would see her enter the Top 10.

    The last minute entry means she is set to earn her 71st UK Top 40 hit on Sundays chart. Her last entry was in 2012 with her Nicki Minaj and MIA collaboration Give Me All Your Luvin, which peaked at Number 37. Click here to view Madonnas full week-by-week UK chart history.

    Living For Love was released on Wednesday ahead of her appearance at this years BRIT Awards her first at the ceremony in 20 years.

    The star faced difficulty during her performance of the song, which closed the show, after she fell due to her cape failing to untie.

    Living For Love serves as the lead single from Madonnas 13th studio album Rebel Heart, which follows on March 9.
