  1. oh please drake hasn't done SHIT. he is enjoying the PR and used madonna. I'm sorry but that guy is a JERK. if he really wanted people to think he liked it he would defend her at all the shit she's getting. a lot of people are saying he is just being nice because its madonna but that he really thought she's gross. he didn't even explain shit. he's over forever for me. have you seen the attacks (even now, a week later) to madonna? "feminists" all over the world are calling what she did sexual assault days after drake "defended" her. he really has to clarify it real good, but he won't, because he got so much attention. his reaction "i think he what the fuck just happened" didn't help either. it's like he publicly wanted to embarrass her. he's a PIG and madonna should stop working with those cunts who just use her for their own benefit. she has to work with people who are respectful and will appreciate her hard work ethic and intelligence, not USE her & spit her out, just to get the "i worked with madonna" label. do any of those stupid youngsters even give a shit about madonna? aside from miley i don't think anyone does.

Damn Nikki lol, you and I are usually on the same page. I'm sure Drake is enjoying the PR but I don't think he used Madonna. I don't know much about him, maybe you know more. I think he did explain it though. As far as what some feminists are saying, how do you respond to insanity and even give something like that the time of day? The only thing he could comment on was the face he made. What some people are saying out there doesn't exist here so how can he respond to it and more importantly why should he?

I don't think he wanted to embarrass her. I think a lot of younger performers respect and like her. Like you mentioned Miley. Nicki Minaj certainly does. Yeah I think it would have been nice if more said something like Rita Ora did. The thing is unfortunality, that many female pop stars today do not want to rock their own boat. The thing about Madonna and this is actually a point I wanted to make in the Rebel Heart/ Indie thread; Madonna is not a puppet but she's also not stubborn. When they gravitate towards either extreme they really are not interesting. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of female pop stars today are not gutsy. It's all in the name of staying on top. Pleasing the public. I know a lot of fans push that today but I think it's so boring and unappealing. They can make passive aggressive comments towards each other but dare go against the entity(the media) that made them stars? No way. That's just my thoughts on why I think she hasn't received more support from pop stars.

I think it's more the reader and the viewer who needs to call out the media. Stop buying their bs. Stop making them so important.

And my "damn" is more surprise and not a slight, I love reading what you have to say.

  2. The iheart performance was wonderful. Madonna is a fantastic singer. The bottom line is that some fans will simply never be happy when Madonna "just" sings a song. They need to have a spectacle, dancing, controversy, costumes etc. or they find it boring and pointless.

For those of us who enjoy when Madonna just comes out and sings a great song, this era has offered a host of treats.

    Count me in!!

Diplo: Bitch, We Are All Madonna

    Matthew Jacobs

Posted: 04/16/15 08:22 AM ET Updated: 1 hours ago

Madonna is moving swiftly through her "Rebel Heart" tracklist, releasing "Living for Love" and "Ghosttown" videos and performing "Joan of Arc," "Devil Pray" and, most recently, "Bitch I'm Madonna." She debuted the latter on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" last week, during which Diplo joined her for a rowdy performance that found Madonna and her dancers prancing through the entire studio.

"Bitch I'm Madonna," which Diplo produced alongside English electronic producer Sophie, is among the six songs Madonna rushed to release after "Rebel Heart" leaked online in December. When The Huffington Post sat down with her last month, we asked Madonna to recount an instance where she used the expression "bitch, I'm Madonna" -- but the singer insisted the thought hadn't entered her mind until Diplo introduced it to her. The song's title might sound like a puffed-up self-reference, but Diplo told us this week, while promoting Major Lazer's new self-titled animated series, that the expression isn't unique to Madonna. In other words, anyone who maintains his or her cool in the face of boundless criticism is, in effect, a Madonna.

Diplo couldn't recall the exact origins of the idea of "being Madonna," but he knows he heard it in a rap song, perhaps by Lil B, whose "Pretty Boy Anthem" includes the lyrics "I look like Madonna / Bitch, I'm a farmer." He took the idea to Madge herself, insisting they recruit Nicki Minaj, who collaborated on Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'" and has long been vocal about idolizing the 56-year-old singer. Diplo said the song addresses naysayers who slam Madonna because she's been in the business for so long -- just like those who used her age as ridicule for making out with Drake during his recent Coachella set, a moment Diplo praised as "sick."

"We made this record about, 'Fuck it, bitch, were all Madonna,'" he said, which clarifies why the "Tonight Show" performance featured her son Rocco, a random guy dressed as a police officer and even Fallon himself saying the words "bitch, I'm Madonna." That means it can be your catchphrase, too.

But there's another twist: Because Madonna hurried to master the demos of the six "Rebel Heart" tracks she released to combat the leaks, the album version of the song isn't Diplo's final mix. He said he was "kind of done" with the track as we know it, so he's since posted his intended cut on SoundCloud.

In addition to securing his spot in Madonna's coterie, 2015 is a big year for Diplo. Major Lazer's third album, "Peace is the Mission," will be out June 1, boasting a tracklist that features Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding, Pusha T and 2 Chainz. And on Thursday, FXX's Animation Domination High-Def series "Major Lazer" will premiere after nearly five years of development. "Lost" star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje voices the titular Jamaican superhero, with support from J.K. Simmons, Aziz Ansari, Riff Raff, Andy Samberg, Charli XCX and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig

    Yes yes yes!!!

It's a very important song. I love it.

  4. I don't even know what any of this is about. Should I even dignify some of the comments out there within the media? I can't because I'm not sure where their comments are coming from. Should I be angry with them or pity them?

As far as the differences between the fans I think the problem many have is with the ease that some can be manipulated by the media when the facts are right before them. That is what some fans can't understand. I agree with Kurt in that I think the facts are being ignored.

If you look at the "whole picture" of the video it helps in interpretating his expression. Drake even told people not to misunderstand his expression but I don't think his opinion matters to some which is rich since they are, you know, "looking out for him." It's absurd. Drake's a 28 year old man and knew what was going on.

If anything I don't think Madonna would be hurt by his expression but by the way some have tried to spin the whole thing.

My range of feelings since Monday morning have been I don't get all the fuss, amused, and are you serious?

I also think it's interesting that I read someone asking if this was helping sales? I don't recall ever buying Madonna's music because she kissed someone or because people get upset by her. People getting into an uproar over what Madonna has done or said is a side of her public life that has caused me bewilderment, amusement, or great annoyance. Her longevity is based on her fan's love of her music. The music is there. The illusion is that anything else really matters.

I already regret commenting on this because I really don't know what any of it's about. All she did was kiss a guy onstage during a performance and his reaction was misunderstood. That musunderstanding is not fact.

  5. Did you just become a fan during MDNA? I don't know what passes for petty and spiteful to you but you have to be a millenial fan to claim total ignorance of what I described in my post that you quoted.

Madonna is known for shutting the door metaphorically speaking. Whether you see it as petty and spiteful is your own karma. The FACT is, many have said it. Even Liz Smith recently said.."She is a deeply complicated woman' adding "Close to her as anyone can get close to her" or something to that effect, saying, you can only get so close to her.

Debi Mazar. Rosie. They have all said things implying how Madonna is about relationships with people. Sandra Bernhard. Some of her dancers. The list is endless.

Go read up on your Queen and don't come to me with political correct BS, saying Madonna is not petty and spiteful. Even she may laugh at your feeble defense.

I maintain. I am delighted she did not tag him and I hope that is the end of the Drake tagging and crushing. Do I still want him on BestNight? I don't know. Maybe. But not right now.

And the FACT is that a lot of what people say is not true. I think Jan was interpreting your flip attitude about Madonna and how she cultivates relationships. Having a few close friends tells me that someone takes having a relationship very seriously and not just adding people to boost your social popularity.

People aren't just on automatic do no wrong when they get within the vicinity of Madonna which I think a lot of people believe and sometimes for whatever reason the relationship just doesn't happen.

  6. 1. Terrence's aggressive mode - he was ready to shoot anyone.

    2. Madonna getting mad in the mad, mad world (i.e., breaking things) - lost of hope

    3. Madonna playing in the playing ground - reminiscing about the good times

    4. Madonna crying at the telephone booth - grief

    5. Madonna scavenging things - she don't feel safe anymore and is more careful in the mad, mad post-apocalyptic world

    6. Madonna not moving when Terrence found her - given up at the state of the world

    7. Terrence "hesitating" to shoot - conflict between safety and trusting another human being

    8. Madonna's initial hesitation to dance with Terrence

    9. The tango

Those are some of the affect in people's emotions in the video.

Oh absolutely! I personally can be overwhelmed by cold hard reality and in this case incomprehensible destruction. I can't get beyond it. I was talking about how it

affects my ability to focus and it made it difficult for me to connect to the story and talk about the video. I do like people showing what reality has done to them though. Some people just want to accept the cold hard reality and not think about emotions, some, like me just want to see the emotion and the pain. Madonna and crew went for both and it's difficult for me to watch but they made a great video.

  7. I like references to pain and tragedy in art but am more interested in it focusing on the affect it has on people's emotions. The surroundings are beautifully done but difficult to watch as they have been and still could be a reality for people. However I do think the surroundings are meant to be symbolic.

Madonna's room is interesting. The old television set. The bed. Her kissing her mother's picture. My favorite part of the video is her busting out of the room and playing dress up as she dances. I love the scenes in the playground where she escapes for a moment. The most beautiful shot in the video is Madonna rising off the ground after breaking down on the phone. Even the phone is kinda retro. How many phone booths are around?

The dance was gorgeous and emotive. I love when she is turned around to face the child and they all seem to find strength.

  8. Please don't project you're "issues" on to me. I have an opinion and that should be respected. I don't have to justify it to you. Good God Get a Grip!

Well no an opinion is formed by a preference or what you "think" based on what is before you. That doesn't make it a fact. What you were insinuating is not a fact but you wrote it as if it was. You can't decide what you want the facts to be and then spread that around.

But why talk to me when you can talk to Carta?

  9. I didn't mean to insult M as she has written some amazing songs. My point is that for her to take credit as the first and main songwriter on the songs that are essentially created prior to her involvement and she changes a few lyrics and takes main credit (I'm not talking about Gang Bang as that was changed immensely). Go listen to the demos i.e. Heartbeat and Some Girls, that's the examples I'm talking about. That for me is not okay and nor is it with any artist. Her name should be further down the line of songwriters on those songs.

Oh no, that's not insulting at all. You have no business stating what you "think," based on an amateur conclusion of bits and pieces off the internet as FACT. You know I couldn't even understand it if people hated her but least it would make a little sense as to where this attitude is coming from.

I would L O V E to see one of you express your opinion on the matter directly towards her. Would love it.

  10. Mariah had some great songs and a great voice back then. Let's give credit where credits due.

But no, she is not the biggest selling female artist and she should stop claiming that.

My mini rant is not directed at you personally but just in general from the "let's give credit where credit is due." When the f*** has Mariah NOT been given credit for her vocal ability??? Up and down and all the f*** around. Don't get me wrong, I have always been a fan of Mariah but seriously, why is it not enough to be praised constantly? Do they really have to try to dupe people into to believing that they own someone else's accomplishment? So many people out there get credit out the wazoo and it's not enough. I'm not upset at you and I like Mariah but I am livid right now. This "biggest selling female of all time" is just one of too many annoyances over the years.

  11. I think realistically M should be added to the credits of these songs at the end, not at the beginning. She is not the main songwriter. I do however think she may have a clause in her contract to ensure she is always the first name on any writing credits no matter what her input is. She's even managed to rewrite history with the Celebration album; Justify My Love - written by Madonna Ciccone, Lenny Kravitz and Ingrid Chavez??? This credit was also used on the MDNA World Tour live CD and DVD. She originally only added additional lyrics. Seems quite weird that she has been upset about the leaks and her work being stolen but she is ok basically taking someone else's art and making minor amendments then taking main credit for it (Girl Gone Wild, Turn Up the Radio, Revolver, Heartbeat, Masterpiece etc). That's simply just wrong and it's stealing. That goes for all the artists who do it. It's awful.

Bullshit. Setting aside (although it belongs in the garbage bin) the baseless insult towards Madonna, how about the people you seem to think are just a bunch of

    morons?

  12. People wanting their music free and complaining about paying $20 a month are being selfish. Already corporations have taken over the industry and having the music artists trying to regain some control is a good thing. Music is a form of pleasure and entertainment. Things people should be happy to pay some money for. Everyone should have the option of free health care and education ( necessities ) provided by taxes and government if they can't afford it but entertainment - music and films - should not be free.

Thank you. The things in life that people are entitled to in my opinion, are a struggle for many.

Stuff like this really gets on my nerves because there are people out there struggling to get basic needs met but people out there with computers, tablets, phones, games, you name it and they can't afford to pay for music? If they were made to be more responsible they could afford it.

  13. And Marina and the diamonds:

"My aim isn't to criticise. But I think artists should speak out about it. The question I'm left with is "is it about money or artistry?"

not everyone has £240 a year to spend on streaming music."

It wouldn't be wrong if it was about both or one or the other. There are a lot of luxuries I can't afford either. If you really want something bad enough you will pay for it. It also makes you more aware of the quality of what you want to listen to and you will become more choosey.

  14. It's amazing how the public has been manipulated by big companies. Like the one guy from Daft Punk said in the ad, "we are not products," and that is how artists have been treated. Not just by companies but by fans. No wonder they get along so well. The fans get what they want and someone somewhere is getting rich off of using these artists and their work. Like Madonna said, nothing is free, someone somwhere is getting paid.

People are insane talking about how rich the artist is. Excuse me what is the cap on how much your allowed to have in you're bank account before it's okay for you to get ripped off for your work? I am not a business person by any stretch. I'm bored by money. I'm bored by business discussions, but I am interested in people. It amazes me how entitled people have become. They truly have no interest in knowing what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes. For people who are so insulting of people with money, the only thing they care about is their own damn pockets. Everyone just makes up their own reality today and are manipulated to be angry at the wrong people. Some people are genuine but there is a ton of hypocrisy out there. They don't want to pay someone else for their work but would be furious if they didn't get paid for theirs.

I love the idea of everyone sharing everything but that is not a reality for anyone unless you want to retreat from the world.

  15. My comment is completely unrelated to Rebel Heart, but has to do with Tidal. I have a free subscription, and Like a Virgin SOUNDS horrendous. Not only that, but Dress Me Up has been altered heavily. It's 6 minutes. Maybe this an edit I didn't know about? If anyone else is using Tidal at the moment, please inform me whats up with this.

    They changed the lyrics?
